Early Season Mischeif in May?

El-Nino is coming infact although not officially as NOAA uses 5 month Tri monthlies it does appear El-Nino will become dominate during April. I would watch for enhanced convection across the Caribbean come May which could yield a early season system. What's going on in Peru could be the cause for all the convection we are about to see across the E-Pac and Western Caribbean in the coming weeks as Nino 1&2 is on fire right now.

and that's what has had my interest all morning ...Scott your post on the El Nino at WU caused it:). Yup the heat is building in opposite..

yes NOAA waits 5 months..

this happened rather quick..

So I believe it's due to seismic and volcanic activity along the Coast..
Magma is hot and land heats faster than water due to density. that heat I feel has disapated into the Pacific and the heat is spreading west.

Morning all and happy Spring. Forecast low last night was 44. Walked out the door this morning and it was 36.

I'll take a pass on any hurricanes. Matthew was good enough for me. Also had direct or indirect impacts last year from Colin, Hermine, and Julia. Julia developed over land near the area.

(clipped from cat-6 blog)................guess this is what will concern us.................................................... more robust severe threat appears likely for Friday over eastern TX/OK into AR/LA, and on Saturday across parts of MS/AL/GA/FL, as the system marches east into more-unstable air. The NOAA/NWS Storm Prediction Center has outlined both regions with a 15% likelihood of severe weather for Friday and Saturday. I’d expect those odds to rise as the timing and locations become clearer through the week.

and from this mornings NWS Jacksonville's extended forecast..(clipped)...The upper level ridge starts breaking down on Friday night as an
upper level low cuts its way through the Southern Plains. Models
are still struggling with the placement and eventual track of
this feature Saturday and beyond. Our area will still likely feel
some impacts in the form of either the dynamics of the low itself
or at least a shortwave trough so have kept chance PoPs with
thunder mention through the weekend. This system will depart and
upper level ridging will build across the South to start the next
workweek.

...and this really does happen!
E.g.
Large computer room, with a 2" red button, under a clear plastic flip cover, at the main exit door. New operator, second week, was curious about what it did... Last day on the job.

less egregious
Same computer room, vendor working sub-floor. Only job was to validate all power couplings were secure. Passed over 1, and the latch (which should have been verified as locked) hooked his shoestring. Same result as above...

even less egregious
Mainframe computer, visiting sub, who thought there was a little too much dust accumulated on the row of metal toggle switches across a front panel. Performed an index finger swipe across. Static electricity takes down the mainframe. This one was just funny as hell. (long time ago)

Great weather today. April and October used to be my favorite months. I think I'm hedging toward March and November now-a-days.

Morning from the North Central Gulf Coast!
Temp: 63
humidity : 96%
Wind: W at 3mph
Dew Point: 62
Barometer : 30.09 digital 29.98 analog
24hr rain: 0.0

as you can see the temp and dew point are close and with high humidity it means....fog ,,,,be it light but it rolled in around 11:00 AM last evening and has been off and on since...Sun will cure it,then the clouds roll in from the advancing front

Afternoon all!

I had a surprisingly cool morning here this morning. It made it down to 46.7. Shocked

I agree with y'all, I'd sure like to bottle this weather for August. I need some rain dangit or I'll have to start watering. So far the cool nights haven't caused any harm to my temp sensitive plants. I have a few varieties that aren't fond of sub 45 degree weather.

Gomey, I kind of envy your "froggy" morning.... those can be very peaceful.

Good afternoon. Sigh, tough stretch at work on the near horizon. My sleep schedule may need to adjust to 5pm - 10pm. We shall see.

It was a cool 45 this morning. PWS's range from 80-87 now. I'll split the difference and say it's 83-84.

Looks like mainly a wind/hail threat for TN, GA, and extreme NE AL.
