Re: CLOSED New Florida Weather Blog (and Mobile!)
No real night shift here, maybe one day...
I stay logged in sometimes to check to see if the weather station I maintain is reporting.
Most of the time I am outside looking up...

NewsChannel-8 in TB just petered out on rain chances for Friday. Sucks! Did notice some 'early-summer'-like convection happening to my east this evening. Will some seabreeze action start early this year???? I guess we'll find that out in May sometime; hopefully not much sooner, and certainly not later.
No detail. Just heard some storm chasers lost the chase.

Re: CLOSED New Florida Weather Blog (and Mobile!)
(clip) NWS Tampa.........On Friday, a mid/upper level trough will dig into the SE U.S.
allowing a surface trough to move through our area bringing some
rain chances with it. Mid/upper level support will be moving away
from our area so will likely end up with a broken line of showers
and isolated thunderstorms moving through the area. But with as dry
as it has been the last few months, we will take any rainfall we can
get.
LONG TERM (Friday Night - Wednesday)...
Progressive pattern continues with upper low over the NE US moves
into the Western Atlantic as upper ridging builds from the N Carib
through the region. Surface high pressure moves N of the area with
low level flow quickly veering easterly bringing Atlantic moisture
over the state for a warm and humid weekend.
Next system to move through thru the region next week with southern
stream upper low from the Desert SW Sunday quickly moving through
the Deep South Mon/Tue pushing surface storm system and attendant
cold front through area the with a chance of showers and
storms.

Re: CLOSED New Florida Weather Blog (and Mobile!)
I actually think Florida will have a better chance of rain than once thought...
reason:
Florida on friday will be between a stationary front just off the East coast, then we have an advancing Cold front from the west...
I believe being between these two fronts and daytime heating that the North 1/2 of Florida could see up to 1/2 inch in places...

True for me. Tomorrow can't end quickly enough.
We shall see if it rains tomorrow. Only a 30% chance but it's location, location, location. One area could get 2" and 10 miles away zippo.

Checking in from Levy county this AM. Well my rain gauge failed me again. For some reason there was nothing in it. So, long story short, I have developed a new methodology for measuring rainfall that appears to be much better than the traditional methods. The measurement I came up with for my place today is 10" of much needed rainfall. You see, the rain drops on my deck were spaced out about every 10"! Hope everyone gets as much or more than I did. Happy to report 100% rain coverage on the sidewalk, and a whopping 0.03 in the bucket. Forecast showing we still have a chance for more, but I don't see it, and the front coming through overnight. Breeze has picked up a bit.

Hey BillsFan,
I just had the opportunity, due to: (contract wording) 'clear evidence of treatment zone disruption', to get free-retreatment for termites. Originally treated in 1994, nary any signs of termites -- ever. They pumped in a bunch of fipronil down through the foundation. Does this sound correct to you? I looked it up a bit and found it's half-life to be 4m to 1y. Anything I need to know, for future consideration?
Thanks, in advance.

Okay Waterdipper,
Your post gave me a much needed laugh this Friday afternoon! I like the way you think; I might adopt your new methodology.
Just in case you missed "seeing" your rain drops every 10" apart this morning.........

Good afternoon. Two days of "prison release" I will try to enjoy. Not one drop here so I feel the pain. Glad for those who got a little.
This would be nice..... Not holding my breath though. I'll even take 50% of these totals.

My local report. YTD average rainfall through March is 10.03". Actual has been 4.05" so running at approx. 6" below normal since January with 40% of the 30 year average. November was well below avg. Dec was the only month at average but about 3/4's of the rain fell in one day.
Edit: been keep records going back several decades (ok, only to 2012). 2012 was my driest start to the year with 4" though March but ended up being the wettest year when said and done with 64.02"
