Weather Underground Blogs Out, I Blog On
This is just a blog because I can blog, unlike the members at Weather Underground.
This really should be a blog about my weather station. It Could be a blog about Hurricanes. Oh man, I could blog on astronomy and telescopes and my recent ventures in to astrophotograhy. BUT NOOOOOO I blog because I can...You never know when you may need to blog but it's nice to know you have one to go to
So if you blog at Weather Underground where do you go to blog?
Lets see...
WU(Weather Underground) no longer has a photo community...
WU no longer has a mail system(or soon wont)...
WU is ending user blogs....
So whats next?? Personal Weather Stations....they barely support them anyway. You are on your on and it's been that way for many years. The PWS support has always been awful..
WU sold to Weather channel who was bought by NBC who sold WU off to IBM...
LMAO that's progress in regression....
Now IBM could care less about this small piece of their pie...They will streamline it so it becomes only faint white noise with no complications...
then membership wanes....
then they sell it off...
then it dies....
That's my blog(thoughts of the day)
what's your thoughts???

PWS's to my understanding were one of the primary reasons IBM bought them but so many have faulty data it's almost laughable.

You are correct a lot of the stations do report flawed Data.
Some of them it's due to placement..
Some of them is operator error(calibration mistakes or lack of)
Some just cheap weather stations.
How do you fix that?
Even when WU has tutorials it's lack of support that causes placement problems..
If a person buy's a station and has no technical aptitude or desire to learn, the station may never get calibrated right...
Then you have the cheap stations from China with flaws like solar radiation shields that are too small to protect the sensors and you get daytime readings in the sun that are way too high...

Agree with both of you....
I think it will be interesting to see how many of the PWS stations stop feeding data to WU in the coming months.

Whats odd is most of the PWS owners at WU don't blog...So losing the blogs may have no meaning to them.
