The Shadow Knows... Empty The Shadow Knows...

Post by gomexwx Thu Apr 27, 2017 11:30 am

The other night I was looking up events happening for Jupiter, and found where Tuesday night(April 25th)Io, would transit across Jupiter. Now when this happens you can see the shadow of the Moon Io, on Jupiter. So I wondered could I get a picture?

This is Io.
Target Name:   Io
Spacecraft:   Galileo
Produced by:   NASA/ University of Arizona / LPL
Copyright: Public Domain
Date Released: 1997-12-18

At around 11:15 PM CST 4/25/17 I set my telescope up and put Jupiter, in the cross hairs of my finder scope and switched on the CMOS camera.

Here is the result:
On the bottom left center of Jupiter, you can see IO, and it's shadow.....
Did I get Lucky? Only the shadow knows..

More to come....

Great picture gomey. Seeing all that black around Jupiter gets me overwhelmed thinking of the universe and infinity. Hard to grasp.
