Non FL related but my folks live in Iowa and are under the gun today for all severe modes - tornado's, damaging winds, hail.  That'll be my focus through the evening.

yes indeed the rains should return next week if the models verify,i hope they do....good luck to your folks Aug..this time of year gets very dangerous storm wise inland in the USA

WPC has updated their 7 day.  If this is the onset of the rainy season these totals will be much higher in areas and possibly less in others.  My focus is on the general trend of increased rain probabilities statewide.

Good Thursday Morning folks!!....wow did it POUR down rain here last night!!!!!!....lasted a lil over a half hour I guess..it registered .08 at the airport here but that's 5 miles closer to tampa..im Sure I got a half inch or maybe even an inch.. by me being closer to the gulf..im a happy camper LOL,i sure needed that..and it had some lighting and thunder also....well Blogs Coffee is perking for when you get here..enjoy..have a wonderful day everyone!!

some weather experts are suggesting This Tropical season could..be the worst in 12 years..i hope they are wrong..one said the hurricane seasons for the USA could be like the hurricanes in the 50's... which I remember were bad.alot came to the US in that decade whew...I guess we caught a break storm wise these last few years..guess i'd better go over my hurricane plans etc.  the tampa bay area has been saved for a long time now from hurricanes...but one expert was saying this season it could be bad for the western gulf...could he mean Texas ??,,,well we'll see how this plays out thru the coming tropical months..best we pay attention and heed the warnings when they begin.tropical season begins in just a couple of weeks.

Morning all.

The rain last night seemed centered over Pinellas with a bullseye over Largo's house, lol. Radar estimates show 1-1.5" there.

Hiya John and I agree,i don't understand HOW this coming hurricane season will be stronger or more storms than any other huh..mother nature sure likes to fool the experts huh...........oh yes..i had a Wonderful heavy rain last night..man the wind, the thunder and lightning and the simply Pouring down heavy rain was awesome..i really needed this to happen...well you have a great day john...we might have the regular afternoon showers beginning now..hope it verifies...

..I think what they are or were seeing was something developing down below cuba etc,possibly if it IS still there..it may get pulled towards the atlantic,then you might get a brush with it as it passes by..i checked the models this early morning and I don't see anything strong,but reports from cuba and the islands down there are talking about very heavy rains etc....could be..just rain IF indeed it goes your way Billsfan..still 5 days or more..anything can happen huh

wow thanks St Pete..yes it simply POURED rain here,i was guessing as much on amounts..i can see what it did outside..washing all the tree debris around in piles lol..man we needed this huh.

well it seems like our rain chances are going UP thru the next 5 days or so,hopefully our rainy season Has indeed come to us in our dire need for rain LOL

got this from mikes weather page..................he says..Tampa hit a record yesterday at 98 degrees. The most amazing fact is Tampa has never hit 100. I kinda feel this is the year we do!...and I say he sure could be right seeing as how warm/hot this spring has been huh

below the I-4 corridor, folks might see some showers etc today nws is saying,good luck down there.

AUG..some real nasty and dangerous storms they say for OKLA and KS today..hope it misses your folks state

The rain around here last night (this gauge is up by Largo).  I may have found a solution to our drought. I manually turned on my water sprinklers, which I never do. An hour later it was pouring!

"Some strong, long-lived tornadoes are expected, along with hail to near 4 inches in diameter, over parts of Kansas and Oklahoma."

well IS this August??? lol...whew sure is HOT outside.........

It seems like our Tampa bay area is under a heat bubble of 90's temps whew...tried to walk my dogs..they went back inside lol

Tampa -- 93 set in 1995
Sarasota -- 97 set in 1938
Lakeland -- 99 set in 1995
St. Petersburg -- 92 set in 1970

Just FYI..already two tornado's one in okla and one in Texas.

12Z TBW sounding showing deepening low level moisture with
PWATs up to 1.73 inches. through 14k ft inversion. Low level
flow more SE and not as strong as last few days so expect
late afternoon seabreeze collision showers and thunderstorms
to dev in SW FL then first then build Nward. Mainly from
around I-75 towards the beaches/coastal areas through the
evening hours. Latest grids and forecasts on track will
update as needed.

a lot of scattered showers inland all moving northwestward now......

too far out in time to believe BUT..this goes into southern florida.on this run

last week in may could be quite wet in southern florida..........
