Good afternoon. I'm not too hopeful of rain chances Saturday. A random location may benefit but most won't. Then back to dry conditions. Speaking of dry......

Just to put things in perspective......... Recall the exceptional D4 drought in TX circa 2010 where virtually the entire state was in it. Similar in CA the last few years before they recovered the past 2 winters.
If it seems dry, it has been...........but it could be much worse.

Morning all. TGIF.
Thanks Largo. NWS upped to a 60% chance for tomorrow but the storms are forecast to be quick movers so rainfall totals will be on the light side. Just hope there are no new fires from lightning.

stay alert when this gets to your area AUG.................NWS Jacksonville............
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday...
A cold front will approach our region from the west on Saturday.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected, with strong to
isolated severe thunderstorms possible. Stronger activity will be
capable of producing damaging wind gusts of 45-60 mph, hail, and
frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Thunderstorm coverage
will quickly decrease on Saturday evening as the front moves
through northeast and north central Florida.
Smoke from West Mims Wildfire will be moving northeastward
from eastern Charlton County through inland Nassau County and into
Camden and Glynn Counties on Saturday. Early morning visibilities
will likely be reduced to less than a mile near and just
northeast of this ongoing wildfire on Saturday morning.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters are asked to monitor forecasts for Saturday and may need
to self-activate if severe thunderstorm warnings are issued.
For additional information, visit the National Weather Service in

stay alert up there Jenny.......................................Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
1107 AM EDT Fri May 12 2017
.UPDATE...
Increased chances of showers and thunderstorms across our
northwestern areas this afternoon and early evening as latest CAM
runs have come into better agreement on a cluster of storms
moving eastward into southeast AL and inland FL Panhandle
locations starting around 18-19Z. With SBCAPE values increasing to
1500-2000 J/kg and effective bulk shear around 30-40 kts during
this time, a few of the storms could become strong to severe in
these areas with hail and damaging winds being the main threats.
Otherwise, the current forecast looks to be on track, and only
minor adjustments were made through tonight. The highest chance
of rainfall across most of our area, as showers and thunderstorms
will be likely during this time along/ahead of a cold front. A
marginal risk of severe weather will remain present through this
time with hail and damaging winds possible in the strongest
thunderstorms.

NWS Tampa...........(clip)........LONG TERM (Saturday Night-Friday)...
A cold front will be washing out across the area Saturday
night/Sunday as the upper trough moves over the state. This will keep
some scattered rain chances in through Sunday gradually exiting to
the south. Weak high pressure then builds into the area for next
week. Generally E/SE winds will develop a sea breeze each afternoon
near the coast with a few isolated afternoon/evening storms each day
through the rest of the period. Temperatures will be above normal
through the period.

Not sure I'm a believer of the latest HRRR but it updates hourly so the next run may be vastly different. Current radar has moderate rain moving onshore further south than what is depicted here however more convection should fire later.

Well, it has been raining very lightly off an on most of the morning here. I have 0.15" in my rain gauge currently and by the looks of the radar it might just be about over for me. Happy to have at least gotten a little bit. Looks like Citrus and Hernando counties getting the bulk of the rain at the present.

Looking at the western edge of the precip in the GOM it's expanding to the north. I hope that trend continues in the coming hours and we all get some relief.
It's cloudy and mild here today so if nothing else it's a nice reprieve from the past 3 days of 95 degrees w/full sunshine aside from a couple of clouds yesterday.
