Morning. Decent rain chances return here today with a more favorable flow from the WSW.

Prayers for your friend Largo. Take all the time you need. Hope it's just a bug and nothing life-threatening.

Good morning all!

Looks like it's going to be another hot one here in the Tampa area. Dry air has taken hold and showers will be few and far between this afternoon I think.

I'm soaking plumeria seeds this morning and will start four varieties today; three of which are dwarf or compact.

I hope I get good germination rates, as I've never grown them from seed before, only from cuttings. Wish me luck!

Good luck there, San.  I understand that what you're attempting is rather difficult.

Do you know about our local plumeria pro?

Mark Govan, the owner of ABC Pest Control, and the host of the Florida Gardening show on 970 WFLA.

link
link

He's created several of his own new cultivars.  The few times that I caught him in his Largo store (second location is in NPR) he was very personable and helpful. He got me started growing these several years ago.

Thank you so much JR!  I had no idea there was a local plumeria guru.  I wish he showed more online than just three varieties. I'm going to have to contact them, as the "about" blurb indicated they had some dwarfs.  That is really what I am interested in now.  Three of the four varieties I am sowing today are dwarf or compact.   The problem with the terms is they are used loosely.

I found the radio show on the I Heart Media site and it is a 7am Sunday morning show - I will start listening to him.

EDIT: I found the other Plumerias on his site. :-)

Speaking of dwarf!   I ordered some Dwarf Bottlebrush "Little John" seeds this weekend.  That is a difficult plant to find here for some reason.  Standard and Wheeping Bottlebrush are all over the place though.

Those dwarfs look nice. I have some bottlebrush shrubs that have grown too large for the area I have them. Considering digging them out in the fall but they do attract the hummingbirds (and bees/wasps).

And Thank You, San, for the unintentional memory jog. Mr. Govan got sick a ways back, had to leave the show, so I quit listening because it just wasn't as interesting. I learned he was back, when you sent me looking for his current status. Smile

Cancer sucks, no doubt. Two of my friends are survivors one male one female. I hope they found it in your friend early. Yes it's an ordeal and very scary but you have to be positive and there are plenty of success stories out there. Welcome back.

My dad has prostate cancer but that's the least of my concerns since it is very slow.  He has COPD from having smoked 40 years earlier in his life and can barely carry a conversation without getting short of breath.  This year is the first time mom and dad have been unable to visit FL.  Dad is slowly suffocating to death and about ready to give up.  I worry about a phone call from my mom at any time he has passed.

We are all in this together Largo.  If something is weighing on your mind we can't make the situation better but can be somewhat of a group therapy.  As PuppyToes mentioned, there are many success stories.  Hope your friend is one of them!

Got clipped by a storm earlier.  The best of it was to my north and south but I managed .38".  I'll take it.

Morning all. We had quite the shower yesterday. Got the ribs off just in time, a real gully washer with lots of lightening and big booming thunder, which I hate. That scares me to death. We had one last week or so sounded like like a gunshot. Neighbor was looking round to see where hit but couldn't. Glad your back in fine form this am Largo. Going back for a cuppa.

Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED
National Weather Service Mobile AL

.DISCUSSION...See updated information for land areas below.

&&

.UPDATE...Area radars detecting that the shower activity continues
to dwindle along the coast this morning, while scattered small
showers have begun to develop across the inland areas. Not much of
an overall change to the updated forecast this morning other than
a few tweaks to adjust the timing of new developing precipitation
coverage for late morning, early afternoon and late afternoon.
Still expect numerous showers and thunderstorms to occur across
the entire forecast area throughout the day, but expect most of
the coverage by late afternoon to be north of I-10. Updated public
forecast has been sent. /22

.NOW...

...Scattered Showers/Isolated Thunderstorms through mid afternoon...

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop across
east central Florida as high moisture and an unstable airmass
combine with afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
Storm coverage will be highest over the coastal counties as the east
coast sea breeze develops and drifts inland of I-95. Storm motion
will be to the north around 10 mph. Brief periods of moderate to
heavy rain and dangerous cloud-to-ground lighting is expected.

Very hot and humid this weekend. 3/4" during the Friday-Sunday time period at my place. Lots of clouds and some occasional thunder here coming off the Gulf, but no rain today so far. Looks like most of the energy that was out in the Gulf is now dissipating and the energy is building inland. Looks like the spine of the state is going to get the bulk of the storms this afternoon. I wonder if the energy that was in the Gulf today is going to shift eastward a bit more tomorrow and maybe even drift a bit southward as well bringing the west coast some late night, early AM showers.

Good afternoon. Yes, everything is just west of me. I am getting much appreciated cloud cover, but no rain.
Hope everyone is doing good today.
