Good luck John. Maybe come August 1st you can report your July totals doubled and you ended the month with over 9"!

July is the driest month of the wet season up here. Monthly average is 4.84" I believe. Then around 6.5" for August and 7.3" for September.

Thanks JR.  Peeps get here at 1pm.  Looking at radar seems the main event is over here and should be clearing the coast shortly.  I need to check a sat.  Hope the clouds hold and keep the temps knocked back 10-15 degrees.

Edit. Looks like a pocket of full sun from say Gainesville to the west coast but clouds are quickly building in to the west of there. Should be nice.

one fatality near Satellite Beach. When skies darken to the west
and you hear thunder...it is time to go indoors!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Jacksonville FL
300 PM EDT Sat Jul 29 2017

...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE THROUGH SUNDAY...
...ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE THROUGH THIS EVENING...

.NEAR TERM...
Tonight...Sfc features tonight will include the cold front over
southern Carolinas to central GA to south central MS. Ahead of the
front...deep layer moisture with PWATS in excess of 2 inches
combined with digging shortwave trough will lead to rounds of
showers and storms. Some of this activity will produce gusty winds
and potential local flooding issues as it progresses east to
southeast. 12 hr accumulations of NAM and GFS showing locations
receiving 1-2 inches...possibly a bit higher but where this falls is
still questionable. The focus of heavier precip will gradually shift
southward overnight...as the front slides southward into to near the
FL/GA state line by 12Z Sun. It`s possible the heavier shower
and storm activity will be south of the FL /GA state line after
about 4 AM.

Sunday...Frontal boundary looks to be near the FL /GA state line
around 12Z with moist plume along and ahead of the feature. Good
low level convergence and weak areas of low pressure along the
front will aid in elevated rain chances. Have mentioned
locally heavy rain the forecast along with gusty winds. Could see
localized amounts of 2-4 inches in a few places but still is under
flash flood guidance. Front and cool advection north of feature will
lead to lower high temps than prior days with highs in the mid/upper
80s...with even some lower 80s possible. Winds along the coast
mainly north of JAX may be breezy due pinched gradient.

Had fun in DT St Aug though time was cut a bit short as one of my friends wasn't feeling too well. Temps were nice. I am stuffed from the calamari, blackened chicken, and some of the shrimp scampi my friend insisted I help her eat. No food for me until lunch tomorrow. Oh, and two Yuengling pints.

Radar app had a tornado warned cell around 4pm but it passed north. I did see a 2nd batch of rain moved through the homestead. Gauge is showing .39. I am pleased as chances were only 20-30% today. Here's to hoping we can all get 3-5" over the next few days with no flood concerns. My area soaks up the water like a sponge so no concerns here.

Morning. Just a few bursts of brief rain here thus far. Jacksonville has been getting hit pretty good. No wind, no thunder.......just tropical type downpours. Jax radar is interesting. Along/south of I-10 the precip is moving west to east. North of there you can see the NNE surge along/behind the front bringing in precip from a different direction.

so far no rain by me, with partly sunny skies etc..local met says coverage will increase later today here..we'll see, today is just the beginning, now when that LOW gets into the gulf and the actual front stalls out over central florida and that LOW starts sending impulses along the front west to east things will be very interesting, especially here along Tampa bay area coastal area's lol..oh well we NEED this rain for sure..and..at the very least it will kill off those 100+ heat index's huh.

NHC..........2. An area of low pressure is forecast to develop along a dissipating
frontal boundary over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico during the
next day or so, and then move eastward across the Florida peninsula
into the western Atlantic by midweek. Any development should be
slow to occur due to only marginally conducive upper-level winds and
proximity to land. However, this system is expected to produce
locally heavy rainfall across portions of central and northeastern
Florida during the next couple of days. Please see additional
information from your local National Weather Service Forecast
Offices concerning the rainfall threat.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.
