Re: CLOSED 7-25 FLORIDA/ALABAMA Tropical season weather
Good afternoon. Been relatively cloudy here all afternoon with no rain. Guess I should get used to the clouds beginning Saturday onward for a few days. Couple of snips from Jax.......
widespread 1 to 3 inch rainfall totals expected through Sunday
and localized totals up to 4 to 6 inches possible. Highest totals
with this event appear to be across NE FL where the front slows
down on Sat Night and Sunday.
Additional rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible next
week with the highest totals across NE FL and coastal areas as
onshore winds early in the week may help develop a few stationary
convergent rainfall bands.

If I buy my next car in 2040, I'll be a happy camper! That would put my 2001 F150 at near 500k miles, and I could go straight to pedaling the tricycle..

I am ready for the front. Looks like it'll produce well for most of the peninsula. We shall see.
Stay cool billsfan. I think the 124 is a bogus reading but we're in the dog days of summer so it's hot regardless.

Yes, I imagine it bogus, who knows where the station is, could be placed in an excessively hot area to give inflated readings. That's what drove me crazy on WU, Master's thinking the PWS were the gospel truth.

There was a tagged invest but it's gone. NHC just released their updated morning package. A new yellow X but not tagged an invest yet. I think it's a different system.

good morning JR, yes we need the rains to return around here huh, we've been in a dry spot again.JRnOldsmar wrote:Good morning. Forecast looks good; coffee hitting the spot. I'll take that 6 inches of rain over 3-4 days. It's needed again here. It looks like everyone should have a chance for some good rains, starting with Gomey today.

Possible coastal convergence here overnight into tomorrow morning. I love when Jax speaks that language. Had such an event in May 2013 that dumped 9" in a day and 15" over 3 days. Not expecting that much this go around but I could always wish.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
649 AM EDT Sat Jul 29 2017
.AVIATION [Through 12Z Sunday]...
VFR conditions to prevail at all TAF sites through the period
outside of SHRA and TSRA, with prevailing westerly winds around 10
KTS. SCT SHRA and TSRA continue to move southeast toward DHN and
ABY, likely reaching these terminals within the next 1 to 2 hours.
Activity will become more widespread between 15 to 18Z, affecting
all other terminals. Gusty winds, and reductions in CIGS and vsby
to at least MVFR conditions are expected under any storms.
&&
.PREV DISCUSSION [340 AM EDT]...
.NEAR TERM [Through Today]...
The cold front associated with the upper level low moving into the
Mid-Atlantic region continues to advance southward at this hour,
with scattered pre-frontal showers and weak thunderstorms ongoing
across Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Given the ongoing
convection advancing upon the region and increasing cloud cover
across the region, chances for severe storms today will remain
minimal. While there will be abundant moisture in place (PWATS 2
to 2.5") and moderate instability, bulk shear will remain weak and
mid- level lapse rates poor. Nonetheless, we cannot completely
rule out a strong storm capable of yielding gusty winds with any
storms that develop later this morning and this afternoon. With
such deep moisture in place, the bigger threat from these storms
will be heavy rainfall rates, particularly in the strongest storms
that develop, as precipitation efficiency will be high.
Expect shower and thunderstorms coverage to gradually decrease from
north to south this afternoon and this evening as the front sags
through the region. Afternoon high temperatures will remain in
the mid to upper 80s across much of the northwestern half of the
forecast area, with locales in the southeastern half likely
approaching or eclipsing 90 prior to showers and thunderstorms.

Will do Largo but we could possibly be dealing with two different types of weather. Front may slip south of me setting up a "local nor'easter" of sorts with storms coming in off the Atlantic while you stay south of the front with storms coming in off the Gulf.

Re: CLOSED 7-25 FLORIDA/ALABAMA Tropical season weather
gee I hope some of these rainfall estimates prove true..i sure could use a real good soaking here, and it would be wonderful if it ould be spread out over days instead of all at once..im guessing if it came all at once i'd still be ok flooding wise..but what we need here is the soaking in kind, not run off
