Re: CLOSED 7-25 FLORIDA/ALABAMA Tropical season weather
My shield kept the rainfall away yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, the lightning kept me from getting any mowing done. Looks like the higher probabilities for rain shift southward today, leaving me with just a 30% chance today. If the storms hold off I think I might go fishing for a little bit this evening. Now that I said that it is guaranteed to storm.

funny thing..nam model takes the LOW into florida.. up to central florida then back down again..like its dancing around Florida..kinda strange but maybe it wants to go north but the coming front is blocking it..might be a couple of days with rain for us...we'll see how this plays out thru the day, just hope no severe  stuff like tornado's etc..the LOW does look kinda weak but you never know huh and we never trust these tropical waves.

Re: CLOSED 7-25 FLORIDA/ALABAMA Tropical season weather
NWS Melbourne........THU AUG 10 2017
.NOW...
...Marine Showers Moving Onshore...
An easterly wave will be endeavoring to transition westward across
the south half of the peninsula today. The wave has tapped some
tropical moisture which has caused a breakout of marine showers that
will move onshore. Although much of the associated rainfall will
occur over South Florida...scattered showers will move onshore of the
Space and Treasure Coasts. Locally moderate to heavy rain is
possible...but it will be brief as the showers pass by. Showers and
thunderstorms will increase in opportunity over inland locations as
the afternoon warms in the presence of gradually increasing
atmospheric moisture. Overall coverage will be best from Melbourne
to Kissimmee southward to Lake Okeechobee.
Ocean conditions will produce a moderate rip current threat along
area beaches. The threat will be highest from mid to late afternoon
due to tidal effects.
Afternoon temperatures are forecast to warm into the lower to middle
90s...especially for locations well-inland.

Re: CLOSED 7-25 FLORIDA/ALABAMA Tropical season weather
Been pretty busy here. Thanks for the updates, Largo.
The last couple of evenings have been 'nice' at my place. No rain to speak of, but sprinkles, clouds, and the lighting/thunder special effects have been very nice for the evening walk.
I now have my own dog to walk. Hosting the grand-dog for a week. She'll get more exercise this week, than she's probably had in her lifetime.

Looks like the higher probabilities for rain shift southward today, leaving me with just a 30% chance today. If the storms hold off I think I might go fishing for a little bit this evening. Now that I said that it is guaranteed to storm.
Well the guarantee came to fruition. Storm was building when I got home so I didn't bother going fishing. After rumbling for about an hour, it finally started raining around 6:30 and I ended up with an inch of rainfall. Seems that when the NWS forecasts 30% for me I usually end up with a big rain. When they forecast 60% I usually get nothing.

Nice blog JR and the comments stayed on topic.
Had an interesting moment a couple minutes ago. It was raining buckets on my neighbors house 100' away while I had nothing. I did get a 15 second downpour a minute or two later. Dark cloud directly overhead now I hope dumps for a spell.

Gotta love Florida, can be raining on one block, and not on the very next one.
Got some rain today. No idea how much as I forgot to check how much we had in gauge yesterday. Dumped 1.5 today.
