No worries here. It's over land and won't develop (if it does) until it hits the water. Then up and out it goes. I just hope to get a shower or two.

Been getting on and off brief downpours most of day. I've concluded my cats are weird. They go outside and sit on porch and watch it rain.

Finally getting a break in the rain. Hopefully this will allow for some floodwater recession before the next round.

Watching the local Fox station and they are showing Manatee county damage from the storms last night. No confirmation, but there may have been a tornado. They also said up to 10" dropped in some areas there. Damn!

Yeah, Ossqss (former WU poster) lives in the Bradenton area and reported over 10" of rain in 4 hours yesterday. I was looking at radar at the time and the storms were basically stalled over Manatee and northern Sarasota counties. Crazy totals! Latest HRRR showed possible 10" a little further south today near SWFLWX's location. I'll dig up the map in a minute.
Had .46" here with most of it falling after midnight.

Narrow band of precip developing nearby. Looks like it'll pivot north and possibly increase in coverage as it moves inland. Time to knock out some chores...

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
911 AM EDT Sun Aug 27 2017
.UPDATE...
An area of low pressure was located near the mouth of the
Tampa Bay early this morning with a trough axis extending
northeast across the north-central peninsula. Deep tropical
moisture via 12Z raob data (PW of 2.35 inches) combined with
a low level confluent southwesterly flow and divergent flow
aloft along with some upper level vort maxes will support
efficient rain making process across the forecast area the
remainder of today with periods of widespread heavy rain
possible. Rather warm mid level temperatures (-4 to -5C at
500MB) will again keep overall thunderstorm coverage on the
low side and will keep wording in the isolated range. Given
the very heavy rainfall amounts observed during the last few
days, and ongoing flooding problems across portions of the
region will maintain a flood watch for Manatee, Sarasota,
Charlotte, and Lee counties through tonight where the
heaviest rainfall has occurred.
Given current radar trends will bump up pops into the
categorical range for the central and southern forecast
area in a mid morning update and will keep heavy rain
wording in place. Considerable cloud cover and high rain
chances will likely lead to lower afternoon temperatures
so will lower max temps slightly in the update as well.

I still think, had Harvey Not come into the gulf..92 may have developed in the gulf and gave us here some kind of tropical system that would cross over the state...thank goodness it didn't because like Harvey over in texas..92 would be hanging around us for days too just like it has been...Florida lucked out this time.

news just said over 250,000 electric customers in texas still without power,i guess when they warn us, to include at least 7 days dry food supplies in our hurricane supplies, along with a way to cook it and plenty of fresh water9bottled etc they aren't kidding..sometimes these tropical systems can linger over an area for days and days..and if you aren't prepared..well we can guess what will happen huh.

Hundreds of water rescues were underway in Houston early Sunday, officials said, as torrential rain from deadly Hurricane Harvey caused “catastrophic flooding” in the city and across southeast Texas, the National Hurricane Center said.
“This is a life-threatening situation,” said Michael Palmer, lead meteorologist at the Weather Channel.
