Re: CLOSED 8-13-17 FLORIDA/ALABAMA WEATHER
Still getting heavy rain and periodic squally conditions here in Iona-Fort Myers. Luckily, our dry interlude yesterday afternoon and evening allowed our lake to recede, providing some room for today's rain.

Re: CLOSED 8-13-17 FLORIDA/ALABAMA WEATHER
I find the atmosphere around FL interesting. Â Although it is an elongated low pressure trough, you almost see two different "spins" on radar. Â One lesser off the SW coast and one more prominent off of the NE coast. Â The visible loop doesn't really show any type of spin off of the SW FL coast.

Some spin around here for sure but the fat lady is about to sing. Last of the sprinkles are harmlessly passing through. Might get up to .15" then time to fire up the grill as the showers move on to the SSW.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for West Central And Southwest
Florida.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
...THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
Rain with embedded thunderstorms will continue across the region
today as an area of low pressure moves slowly northeast. Some of
these storms will produce locally heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 3
inches, with some higher amounts. This could exacerbate already
saturated soils and lead to additional flooding.
...FLOOD IMPACT...
A flood watch remains in effect for Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte,
and Lee Counties through this evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3
inches with some higher amounts will be possible through the day
and this could lead to additional flooding. Remember to never
drive through flooded roadways.
...RIP CURRENT IMPACT...
Onshore flow and increased wave action will produce dangerous rip
currents along area beaches.
...RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
Several area rivers are in flood stage. Refer to
weeather.gov/tampa for further details. Residents living along
rivers or faster-flowing streams should remain aware of water
levels and be ready to move to higher ground should additional

Re: CLOSED 8-13-17 FLORIDA/ALABAMA WEATHER
Happy Monday. Looks like Harvey is the storm that won't die. Could not imagine that happening here. Most mets have always said the three most vulnerable cities to tropical systems in the US are New Orleans, Houston and Tampa. New Orleans (Katrina) and Houston (Harvey) have had their extreme storm here in the last few years. Is Tampa's time going to come sooner rather than later?
Anyway, a normal late summer weekend here. Saturday got 1.45" while Sunday got 0.05". As predicted, the heaviest stuff from the low stayed down in SW FL. The rainfall totals in Manatee County are quite impressive for this little event, but pale in comparison to what Harvey is doing in TX and LA.
