That they do PT. And to think this is a quick mover. Gives some perspective to TX with Harvey stalling for 4 days.

Somewhat of a sleepless night here. Waiting for the last significant band to move through. The rains should then subside but winds will remain a threat. Surprised I still have power. Here's a static loop of the "grand finale" rainband for me (I think) pinwheeling out of Flagler County.

Rain hasn't been too terribly bad. Had 5.5" last I checked around 8pm. I'd guess up to 8-9" now with a couple more on the way.

Checking from NPR. Made it through the storm very well. Never lost power. Time to begin the cleanup. We dodged a huge bullet here.

Good Tuesday Morning folks!...I got my power back somewhat late last night, but early this morning I'm still hearing distant transformers blow...just lost internet a few minutes ago but its back on now..well for me..i lost most if not all of my banana tree's,and most of my tropical..sunday night real late..the winds became bad..maybe midnight,1am or so..i took my little dog outside and the wind picked her up and tossed her..good thing I had the leash on her..in my entire life..ive never seen the wind so Mean and strong...im guessing 80-100 mph as Irma was just inland over in polk county I guess..thats when tree branches came down and all my plants etc got ruined..and I lost power quick too..wellwe got a day.playing cave people..BBQ'ing even the coffee etc lol..good thing Monday wasn't 90 something degree's as it was indeed feeling cooler her as Irma went on her way north....well hopefully the city will p/u all the huge mounds of tree debris a of us have piled up on the curb grass..luckily none of my oaks came down just lots of thick branches..and no roof or building damage thank goodness...news is saying Irma came thru central florida as a strong cat-1 at the time the wind got really bad that night...oh well its over...hope some of you that lost power get it back soon...anyone hear from Billsfan yet?

Hi Largo, all is well here, lots of debris to clean up but power is on. Looking at a nearby gauge looks like it passed here at 28.9 inches, winds dropped and then picked up which would suggest we were in the eye, not sure if I believe that. There was a wobble that took it east just as it passed Tampa Bay.

Hiya St Pete..yes it sure felt like we were In the eye alright..in my whole life ive never felt the true power of wind..angry,powerful,like a fire hydrant of air turned on full blast, hit me around 1am or so as I was walking my dog..lifted her clear off the ground, damn near bowled me over too..whew., don't want to ever feel what a 4-5 are.StPeteFLwx wrote:Hi Largo, all is well here, lots of debris to clean up but power is on. Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
some of those rain bands were stronger than the eye wall..they were pounding both the east coast and west coast at the same time..news met say they stretched out 400 miles at the time..wow what a monster storm that was huh..but glad it weakened somewhat around fort Meyers, but those bay news 9 mets sucked big time, telling everyone it weakened a lot and they were more worried about storm surge....boom the winds hit us full force and the storm surge wasn't much here...sometimes you have to listen to what your gut tells you and hunker down and prepare for the worst and don't listen to them...real glad I did...im worried about Billsfan..her area got Pounded with 100+ miles per hours for several days, and tornado's too..the east coast had a lot of tornado warnings those 2 days or more.

My power cut a few moments after my last post and was restored around 9'ish this evening. According to radio as I waited with no other comm's, it was mentioned Jax area had it 2nd worst in the state behind the keys. Just yesterday alone there were around 500 water rescues in Duval and St John's county due to river flooding. Irma was a TS at the time but had cat3 surge. I saw some wind reports in the mid 80's with one suspect report of 106 in Talbot Island. Rain gauge had 13.74" upon check yesterday morning. It only holds eleven. I dumped a couple times earlier on Sunday when there brief lulls in squalls. 3 day total over 16"

Morning All, I'm Here!!!!!!
Everything is fine just no power but I have a generator.
Lets see where to start.. Bar. 28.46 was lowest pressure. 6.67 in the bucket winds 38 gusting to 68.
I live in a dry lake bed so the heavy wind most of the time don't get me. Lots and lots of trees down and from what I could see which is not much some damage to buildings and fences.
Have a good day!!!

Made it through the storm quite well. Hope everyone else did the same. What a major scare that was for the entire state. I gotta thank Marco Island for taking it on the chin for the rest of us. It was much nicer coming home this time compared to last year with Hermine when I had a foot of water surrounding my house and Cedar Key was a wreck. Irma caused no flooding or major damage to anyone in my neck of the woods. Irma had more wind, but less rain than most of the other storms I have been through. Only got 5". She did knock down a lot of large limbs around my property, luckily they fell harmlessly around the house, my sheds and my pole barn. I finished a lot of my clean up yesterday, but still a bunch left to pick up around the yard. It will have to wait until the weekend as I am back to work today.

Yeah, aside from the winds, which were managable there were 3 confirmed tornado's in my county. The St Johns River took a lashing with surge and Black Creek really took a hit from surge. Many people on the roofs on their homes waiting on rescue. One woman got swept away. She hadn't been found yet last I heard but I really haven't checked up much today.
