Aug- your ingredients sound close to mine. I microwave the cabbage head until leaves are peelable stuff with a mixture of cooked rice, ground beef and ground breakfast sausage. Top with sauerkraut and cook in tomato soup for several hours. I make a baked Potato to serve with them.

Aug- you’re one of the few people that that I know of to use tomato soup instead of sauce. I think it makes a huge difference.

The best way to do it is:

Cut bacon into pieces about 1/2" or 1" long from each piece
Fry up bacon in cast iron skillet - however much you want ( I like 1 lb of bacon to 1 head of cabbage)
Remove bacon from pan and leave drippings
Slice and chop cabbage up
Add cabbage to pan with bacon drippings
Add about 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of garlic pepper to cabbage and mix up
Cook on low for 20-30 min until cabbage is soft/tender
Add previously cooked bacon back into cabbage and mix up
Cook for another 5-10 minutes
Remove from heat and serve as a side dish.

This can also be added to mash potatoes and is known as Colcannon

Re: CLOSED April Showers

Post by LargoFL on Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:38 pm

NWS Tampa 3.02pm sat......clipped...................An active day is expected Sunday as a strong late season
front surges across the region. This will bring a number of
hazards including the possibility of severe storms,
dangerous marine conditions, and strong/potentially damaging
wind gusts ahead of the line of storms. Winds will increase
markedly as the surface pressure gradient intensifies ahead
of the front with gusts in excess of 30 to 40 mph well
ahead of the line of storms. Wind speeds just off the
surface will be in the 60 to 70 mph range as a strong low
level jet develops. Showers and thunderstorms may easily
bring some of these winds down to the surface, which is why
the risk of damaging winds is fairly high with this event.
With a prolonged period of intense winds both ahead of and
behind the front, building seas will lead to hazards along
area beaches as well, with rough surf and a high risk of rip
current activity on Sunday. The front and associated line of
thunderstorms should have moved through much of the Florida
peninsula by early Sunday evening.

.LONG TERM (Sunday Night - Saturday)...
At the start of the period a strong negatively tilted
mid/upper level trough will be moving across the deep south
and north Florida while an attendant cold front will be
moving southeast through the south-central Florida
peninsula. Ongoing convection some possibly strong to severe
along and ahead of the front across south-central areas
will shift southeast away from the forecast area in tandem
with the front by mid evening bringing an end to the severe
weather threat with rain chances then ending overnight as
drier and cooler air advect in from the north on a
developing northwest to northerly wind flow in the wake of
the front.

During Monday and Tuesday weak mid level ridging and a dry
northwest flow aloft combined with surface high pressure
building in from the west will support pleasant dry weather
across the entire forecast area with mainly clear skies and
much cooler temperatures expected.

Good morning. Could be two rounds of storms up here per the SPC. One ahead of the front then new development along the front.

Snip: ...Florida...
A broken line of storms is expected to push eastward across the Gulf
of Mexico, traversing the Florida Panhandle during the morning.
Cells will likely affect much of the peninsula during the late
afternoon and evening as they move ashore. Supercells will be
possible given veering winds with height. Preceding the cold front, another broken line of storms is expected to form during peak heating, and affect mainly eastern FL and into southeast GA. Marginal hail, locally strong winds or a brief tornado will all be possible.

NWS MELBOURNE........Sun Apr 15 2018

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
There will be a slight risk of severe storms today as a strong
late season cold front moves across the Gulf of Mexico toward the
Florida peninsula. A squall line is expected to develop ahead of
the front that will bring an organized band of showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening. Strong and damaging
wind gusts, frequent lightning, and small hail will be possible.
as well as a brief tornadoes. People should monitor forecasts
today, especially those involved in outdoor events.

.HIGH WIND IMPACT...
Brisk southerly winds will prevail ahead of a strong cold front
that will push through central Florida this evening. Sustain winds
between 20 and 25 mph are expected, with frequent higher gusts. A
Lake Wind Advisory will be in effect between 10 AM and 8 PM today.

.MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT...
A squall line is expected to push across central Florida today
that will bring an organized band of showers and thunderstorms
this afternoon and this evening. Wind gusts of 35 knots or
greater, frequent lightning, and small hail will be possible,
especially as the storms approach and move off the east Florida
coast. Boaters should take steps to prepare for these storms.

.WATERSPOUT IMPACT...
An organized squall line is expected to push across central
Florida this afternoon and this evening that may produce brief
waterspouts over the coastal waters and the inland lakes.

.WIND AND SEA IMPACT...
A fresh to strong southerly breeze will develop over the Atlantic
waters today as a late season cold front pushes across the Gulf of
Mexico. These winds will generate hazardous boating conditions as
seas build to 6 to 8 feet nearshore and 8 to 10 feet offshore.
Winds will shift to the west and northwest overnight as the cold
front pushes through central Florida. While the developing
offshore flow will result in lower wave heights, it also will
produce rough, short period chop. A Small Craft Advisory is in
effect from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet out to 60 nautical
miles.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
Winds will diminish into Monday, but will remain strong enough to
require a Small Craft Advisory into the afternoon hours.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters are requested to monitor the weather and self activate
if needed.

Gomey is in the Mobile, AL area. Storms are east of him now and a nice day in store for his area. I didn't see any storm reports from the immediate area on the SPC site and presume he had quite a bit of rain (rain magnet of the US that area is) but nothing severe.
