SPC has shifted the risk further north and added enhanced up in the Carolinas

NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0751 AM CDT Sun Apr 15 2018

Valid 151300Z - 161200Z

...THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SAVANNAH VALLEY
TO SOUTHERN VA...

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS NORTH FL TO VA...

...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTH FL TO THE
UPPER OH VALLEY...

...SUMMARY...
A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will move northeast across
the Southeast and Lower Mid-Atlantic States today into tonight.
Damaging winds and tornadoes are most likely from the Savannah
Valley into southern Virginia this afternoon and early evening.

...North FL to VA...
A generally decaying line of thunderstorms is ongoing from southwest
GA to the eastern FL Panhandle. With a nadir in instability inland
ahead of this line, severe risk with this activity should remain
localized through most of the morning. But as the large-scale
outflow impinges on the Atlantic coastal plume of mean mixing ratios
near 14 g/kg per 12Z Jacksonville and Charleston soundings,
convection will intensify towards midday amid MLCAPE of 500-1000
J/kg. The line will also expand northward given robust mid-level
height falls downstream of a 100-kt 500-mb southerly jet. In spite
of highly meridional deep-layer wind fields, 50-60 kt low-level
southerlies atop backed southeasterly surface winds (in response to
cyclogenesis) will result in enlarged hodographs. A few supercells
embedded within or just ahead of the line seem probable, with the
tornado risk appearing maximized from the Savannah Valley into parts
of southern VA during the afternoon. Otherwise, swaths of scattered
damaging winds and brief QLCS tornadoes are expected through early
evening. The severe threat will nocturnally wane tonight but at
least an isolated wind/brief tornado risk may persist towards the
Mid-Atlantic Coast within a low CAPE/high shear environment.

...South FL...
The severe threat should decrease with southern extent given minimal
mid-level height falls and weaker deep-layer shear. While multiple
rounds of convection should affect the peninsula, focusing on the
east-coast sea breeze this afternoon and along the impinging cold
front in the afternoon and evening, overall severe potential should
remain marginal, favoring locally strong winds and marginal hail.

Good morning JR, I'm looking forward to our low temps the next two days.  woot

Back to current conditions..... SPC considering a watch for parts of Florida

Mesoscale Discussion 265

Mesoscale Discussion 0265
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
  0834 AM CDT Sun Apr 15 2018

Areas affected...northern Florida through southeast Georgia

  Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

  Valid 151334Z - 151500Z

  Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...Storms have shown an increase in organization and
intensity during the past hour and might remain capable of damaging
wind and a couple of tornadoes through the morning. Trends are being
  monitored for a watch.

DISCUSSION...Storms have recently increased in organization and
intensity from southwest GA into northwest FL and this might be in
part to the influence of an MCV that is moving northeast through
southwest GA. The downstream boundary layer is moist with middle to
upper 60s F dewpoints, and some cloud breaks will allow further
boundary layer destabilization this morning. However very weak lapse
rates and the presence of a mid-level inversion remains a limiting
factor. Nevertheless, storms are embedded within very strong
low-level and deep-layer shear profiles supporting potential for
embedded bowing structures and mesovortices. Further destabilization
of the boundary layer might be sufficient for a sustained severe
  threat through the morning.

You can't see enough on Tampa radar as it is just coming into view, but looking at the PSU radar, that area forming on the tail end of the line down south is starting to beef up rather nicely.

I've noticed that the cloud cover here doesn't seem to be as thick as it was this morning so of course I took a look at visible.  Plenty of clouds here, but Aug's area looks to be rather thin.  One of the webcams up in his area shows some light getting through - that won't bode well for NE FL.

You are always in the sweet spot for rain!  I watch the lines move in and more often than not when they come in from the GOM my coast line in New Port Richey busts the line up!  Coastal Hernando and Tarpon Springs to my south win the blue ribbons!!

You are the "Palatka" of the west coast!  I keep swearing I'm moving to Palatka for their rainfall totals.  Very Happy

81 here also but the DP is only 57, so that at least makes it nice out right now.

Wind wise and cloud wise it feels about the same as early this morning. The winds are giving the tide some pushback, the air has gotten really thick, and the sun is definitely heating thru the cover.

Rays at 1pm; Briston at 2pm. It would be nice not to lose power or cable. Wink

I wouldn't be surprised at this point if they extend the watch area, this MCD is for the Tampa area which is not included in the Nader Watch currently.  Your "bow" is mentioned as well PT

Mesoscale Discussion 267

Mesoscale Discussion 0267
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
  1118 AM CDT Sun Apr 15 2018

  Areas affected...west central Florida

  Concerning...Tornado Watch 51...

  Valid 151618Z - 151715Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 51 continues.

SUMMARY...Storms will likely move onshore near the Tampa area around
17Z and may pose a risk for mainly strong to damaging wind, but a
brief tornado cannot be ruled out. This area is south of tornado
watch 51, but the existing WW can be locally extended a few counties
south as needed, or a separate severe thunderstorm watch could be
issued. Plans are also to expand the slight risk farther south
through remainder of the Tampa forecast area with the 1630Z update.

DISCUSSION...Line of storms with broad bow echo configuration
located off the west central FL coast is moving east around 30 kt
and will reach the coast near Tampa around 17Z.
The atmosphere
inland is moist with upper 70s surface dewpoints and temperatures
rising through the 80s supporting MLCAPE around 1500 J/kg. Some
increase in low-mid level winds is expected next hour or two. The
overall environment with strong low-level and deep shear, moderate
instability and influence of MCV located near northern end of the
bowing segment appear supportive of a organized structures with a
threat for damaging wind as the line moves inland.

Yeppers that’s it San. The bow just might fit into the coastline a glove. We’ll see.

There ya go JR!  Ruskin NWS has the update but SPC doesn't yet.  You must have gotten the phone alert.  :-)

I take that back, it doesn't look like what you posted has the updated counties.

Well we are sitting outside since there isn’t much lightning with the storm. Windy thickening clouds and we’re are at T minus 30 minutes? Let’s get the show on the road. We’ve been watching this storm for days. We have pre anticipation storm fatigue. A new one for the DSM LOL

LOL PT!!

Looking at the radar on NWS instead of WU, it looks like the line is beginning to lose some oomph (from my words to God's ears)
