Morning All,
Well I got .49 in the bucket yesterday. No bad weather in my area. Got storm warned for 60mph winds. Nothing more than 17 in my area. Got lucky!
Did see there were a couple of water spouts down St pete way. No sweater weather for me. This is my last chance for cooler weather. I'm going to enjoy this.
Have a great day all!!

Re: April Showers
Looks like you all had a busy weekend of tracking the storm. I know with all the warnings and the way the radar looked it appeared we were going to get slammed. But when it hit up here, it was nothing more than a rain shower, very little wind and basically no lightning. Nothing like the last two fronts that were both hit the severe threshold at my location. I think two things kept it from being severe here: 1) A shield of light rain/drizzle formed out ahead of the front and cooled the temps down 2) The energy shifted inland with the squall line that developed in north central FL and raced eastward.
I ended up with .75" of nice rainfall. The highest winds occurred after the front passed through yesterday afternoon and continued overnight. It cooled down quickly yesterday with the frontal passage and it was a cold windy 47 here this morning. It felt more like February than mid April, but the sun is already making it feel much better. Hope everyone enjoys this last taste of winter before summer hits in a couple weeks.

did you hear about this??................from CNN..........Should the country's most populous state be split into three separate states? California voters might be able to make that decision this fall.

I have heard about that and NO!!!! they should not be split into 3 states. California doesn't deserve 6 votes in the Senate. And one Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown is more than enough!

They've got some totally insane laws in California, not to mention regulations, sky high taxes (property, sales etc...). They have destroyed the state. I know your daughter lives there Largo, does she ever complain about the wacky ideas?
I do understand why some of the fiscally conservative folks wish the state was run differently!

Re: April Showers
Good afternoon. Got sidetracked with XYZ yesterday then the work grind today. Nothing of significance up here. Winds gusted for a bit (maybe 45mph???) as the squall line moved through. Couple of palm fronds down, .52" of rain, couple rumbles of thunder. Cool, breezy, mid-April day with temps in the mid 60's under full sunshine. Temps dip to the mid 40's tonight then quickly rebound tomorrow onward back to the mid 70's to mid 80's.

WD, thanks for your report!
JR - that loin looks downright yummy!
Largo - not a coffee drinker anymore, but some hot cocoa would be good today.
John - glad you got a nice rainfall, I'm enjoying the temps as well.
St Pete - thats a purdy map you posted.
Bills - you cracked me up with the CA stuff.... I'm with you on all of it, can you imagine 6 senate votes for them? No freakin way, they would have this country in a pit before any of us will kick the bucket!

Re: April Showers
WPC day 6-7 (Sun/Mon) forecast. Rinse/repeat. Models have been hinting at another wet period in a weeks time.
Add: PM Jax discussion: .LONG TERM...Friday through Monday...Short wave ridge aloft will
move across the area Friday and Saturday continuing the fair and
dry pattern. An upper low will move from the west coast into the
lower Ms river valley on Sunday and then into the southeast on
Monday. Models similar in showing a Gulf surface low moving into
the area on Monday bringing a good chance of showers and
thunderstorms late in the weekend into early next week. Onshore
flow will keep temperatures a few degrees below average Friday and
Saturday...rebounding to near average Sunday and Monday.

Re: April Showers
Initial though process in my mind has some concern as to potential severe threat. Based on the WPC map the system would be a "low rider". Note no precip basically north of the Ohio River with it being confined to the southern tier. We shall see how the situation unfolds in the days ahead.

Re: April Showers
Nice cool 43 here today, but not close to the record of 33 for the day that we hit back in 2008. Looks like a warming trend starts today and continues into the weekend. The models don't yet have a good handle on the next storm system forecast for Sun/Mon time frame, but I think it is amazing we are still having weekly fronts in mid April. We havne't had a spring like this in some time. I watched Joe Bastardi's weekly update yesterday and he thinks this pattern for the eastern US will continue into May this year. He is also forecasting a Modoki El Nino for the Fall/Winter and he thinks that will bring an early winter for much of the US.

well since some models have the storm into Florida sun/mon and other have it tues/wens we'll have to wait a few more days and see if they can get their act together but..it sure looks like we have some spring rains coming regardless of what day next week huh.
