Good snippet from Cosgrove.  I thought the time was moving up from say a week ago but seems "stuck" now.

NWS Jax is bringing music to my ears.  ".LONG TERM.../Sunday night through Thursday/...

On Sunday night an upper level low develops over the northeastern
Gulf of Mexico with the rain shield moving over the entire area
overnight. Monday looks to be a washout in all areas with a
surface low developing over the central Gulf. On Tuesday through
Thursday that low moves to the upper Gulf coast and weakens with
the wet pattern remaining over the region. Not seeing anything
that looks like severe weather but maybe an early start to the
rainy/wet season?"

Tropical Depression One-E Discussion Number   1
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL       EP012018
200 PM PDT Thu May 10 2018

The area of disturbed weather that NHC has been monitoring during
the past couple of days has developed a well-defined surface
circulation and enough convection to be classified as a tropical
depression. Satellite intensity estimates from both TAFB and SAB are
2.0 on the Dvorak scale, yielding an initial intensity of 30 kt. The
depression is embedded within an unfavorable upper-level wind
environment, and these winds are forecast to increase further. On
this basis, the NHC forecast calls for the depression to have a
short life, and become a remnant low in 24 hours or sooner.

Since the depression just formed, the initial motion is uncertain
and appears to be west-northwestward or 295 degrees at about 5
knots. Since the steering currents are expected to remain light and
not change much, only a slight turn toward the northwest around a
weak subtropical ridge is anticipated.

FORECAST POSITIONS AND MAX WINDS

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
353 AM EDT Fri May 11 2018

.SHORT TERM (Today - Saturday)...
An upper high and associated ridging extends from eastern Cuba
northwestward over Florida. This will keep a southwest upper level
wind flow over the region through the short term period.
The ridge will move eastward through early Saturday when an upper
low moves into the Gulf of Mexico. This pattern will hold through
the end of the week. On the surface, high pressure over the Florida
panhandle will keep rain-free conditions over the region through the
end of the week into Saturday. The 00Z evening sounding is already
showing an increase in moisture with a PWAT of 0.98 inches. This
trend will continue for the next 36 hours when tropical moisture
begins to move northward which will result in higher humidities and
increasing rain chances into the weekend. More on that in long term
discussion. Temperatures will remain above average through the short
term period with daytime highs in the upper 80`s to low 90`s
expected across the region.

&&

.LONG TERM (Saturday Night - Thursday)...
Stagnant U/L pattern across the CONUS to begin the period with a
strong U/L cut-off low over the inter-mountain west and a weak U/L
disturbance over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The U/L low out west
will gradually fill through Tuesday while the disturbance over the
eastern Gulf deepens a bit. Southern stream flow will develop
across the southern tier of the CONUS Wednesday and Thursday which
will pick up the disturbance over the eastern Gulf and force it to
open up and lift north...however an U/L trough will persist
over the eastern Gulf in its wake.

At the surface, a weak area of low pressure will likely develop over
the eastern Gulf in response to the quasi-stationary U/L disturbance
over the area. This will create broad southerly flow over the
Florida peninsula advecting deep tropical moisture across the region
with high pops expected Sunday and continuing through much of the
upcoming week...with showers and thunderstorms likely each day with
locally heavy rain possible. As the surface low lifts north mid
week, shower/thunderstorm activity will be enhanced along the
afternoon sea breeze boundary which will be focused over the
interior peninsula.

Puppytoes,
Yes I have one. Its an Oregon weather station. it works really well after its calibrated for the area. I like it. one draw back is my area is really dusty and it gets into the rain gauge. I have to keep it clean or the rain gauge dosen't work properly.
It cost a little more but its worth it. I paid 250.00 and it was on sale.
Good luck if you decide to get a PWS

Good morning. Thanks John for the info on your PWS. Do you live on/near gravel road? We get a fair amount of dust after the lawn is mowed, is that what you mean? As I’ve mentioned, FL is going to get wet and it’s shaping up that S FL will likely see the most rain. Flooding may be an issue as well. Since the 2 systems unfold over a period of days, not hours, flooding will hopefully be mitigated to a degree. We’ll see.

Good afternoon. I'm looking forward to the wet pattern. Hope it's not a bust!

Regarding the GFS storm I'm feeling quite certain it's a ghostie. Here is the forecast valid at 6z (2am) on May 21st from 6 days ago.

Here is today's latest run for the same date/time (6z on May 21st). Later in the run it shows another hurricane but the theme is the time keeps getting pushed out. 2 weeks from now it'll still be showing a storm at over 300 hours. It'll be right one of these times, lol

I live out in the middle of almost nowhere. Lots of cows and open fields.
I get just general dust when its dry out.

John - aside from clearing out the dust do you have to replace alot of parts and such? I only have an analog rain gauge (which I like). A PWS would be cool but I don't want to be investing much in the way of money if it gets zapped by lightning or suffers damage from wind or another source.

On another note - it was 95 on the car thermometer running an errand over lunch. Dew point was quite low so although the temp is high it didn't feel bad.

Jax snip

.SHORT TERM (Saturday night to Monday)...
The area begins the period along the western periphery of the
Bermuda Ridge with the Atlantic Sea Breeze front dominant during
the evening. Gradually during the day on Sunday a trough over
south Florida will move north with the rain shield gradually
encroaching on the Florida portion of the area late in the
day/evening. Overnight Sunday night a low pressure center will
develop over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and drift north with the
rain shield then moving over the Georgia portion of the forecast
area by late Monday Morning. Rain is likely for most areas with
some locally heavy rainfall possible, especially over the
southern most counties and the coastal areas.

.LONG TERM (Monday night through Friday)...
Monday night into Wednesday the Gulf low slowly moves to the
north or north-northwest with locally heavy rainfall for all
areas. The Low moves over the southeast states and opens up on
Wednesday and Thursday, but the wet pattern will continue on both
days. By Friday a ridge will build over the area and things
become more diurnal but still some locally heavy rainfall in the
sea breeze front convergence.

It felt fine bills. Not the steam bath of summer with similar temps but higher dew points.

I suspect you'll be first in line with the clouds, rain, and moderate temperatures. Full sun here although some higher cloud tops along the seabreeze front that has pushed through to my west.

San does a great job digging up nuggets of info most of us miss or are oblivious too (I am quite frequently, lol).  That weather station looks promising and it's mobile.  Only thing I would wonder about is where to place it if, say, a heavy wind event (whether severe storm, TS, or hurricane) is inbound.

Hi Aug, I believe the PWS can be mounted on a pole. I wasn’t going for the ‘hang it on a screw’ mount. This is exactly what I’m been looking for, i hope the price keeps me in the ring. June is just a few weeks away!

Hey PT... I'm liking that PWS also! The problem I ran into with the one I have is it needs to be mounted on a tripod or pole type doojob up on the roof. This new type can go on a small pole in the yard and is mobile. I'll be watching it also.

Although not well-depicted for my part of the state I'm partial to regimes 1,4, and 6.  Keeps the seabreeze from either blasting through mid-day or keeping it pinned along the coast. A nice slow moving east coast sea-breeze making progress to around the St Johns River basin late afternoon is my sweet spot.

Watching the seabreeze is a cool thing. You can literally see with your own eyes looking out the window and it's often evident on radar reflections.

Outflow boundaries are cool too.  Read a NWS discussion during summer and you'll often see references to seabreeze's and outflow boundaries interacting with one another.  If the east/west coast seabreeze collide or an outflow boundary collides with one of the seabreezes then BAM in many cases.

Edit: I love summer! Minus hurricanes, lol

I'm beginning to think less rain than they first projected.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
341 AM EDT Sun May 13 2018

.SHORT TERM (Today-Monday)...
High pressure over the southeast U.S. has been slow to
retreat which has allowed drier air aloft to hold over west
central Florida. An inverted trough over the Florida Straits
and the Bahamas will lift slowly northwest toward the
eastern Gulf of Mexico today and Monday. As the inverted
trough moves over the Florida peninsula today, deep tropical
moisture will advect across the central and southern
forecast area...and the remainder of the forecast area
tonight and Monday. This will allow pops to increase today
from south to north with the best chance for afternoon
showers and thunderstorms south of the I-4 corridor. On
Monday, the inverted trough will interact with an U/L low
over the eastern Gulf which will allow an area of low
pressure to develop over the southeast Gulf. Deep south to
southeast flow over the Florida peninsula will pull deep
tropical moisture over the entire forecast area with locally
heavy rain possible.

.LONG TERM (Monday Night through Sunday)...
Long range models continue to point to a rather prolonged
wet weather pattern as we head into next week. This will
occur as a large upper low meanders northward across the
eastern Gulf of Mexico within a very moist tropical airmass.

Daily rounds of showers and isolated to scattered
thunderstorms can be expected as we remain on the eastern
periphery of the upper low and a weak surface low over the
eastern Gulf. The influence of this feature coupled with
modest daytime heating and afternoon sea breeze circulations
should favor scattered to numerous showers and storms
virtually every afternoon. With southerly flow, seabreeze
convergence will be maximized over interior parts of the
peninsula east of I-75. With abundant cloud cover a
increasing chances for rain, highs will be limited somewhat,
only rising into the low to mid 80s most days.
