Re: CLOSED May Blog: Higher Temps, Higher Dew Points, Higher Irritability
(clipped) NWS Melbourne.............Tue May 15 2018
.NOW...
A deep fetch of tropical moisture across east central Florida
will lead to another day of high rain chances with showers and
storms developing by late morning into the afternoon hours.
Numerous showers and isolated lightning storms will produce
locally heavy rainfall amounts today to 2 to 3 inches in areas
where showers and storms storms train over the same areas. The
rainfall may produce minor flooding of roadways and poor drainage
areas. A few storms may become strong with gusty winds. Initial
development of showers and isolated storms is expected along the
coast into early afternoon and then will transition farther inland
during the late afternoon hours. Highs will reach the lower 80s
along the immediate coast to the mid 80s across the interior.

Morning. Coffee smells good today, thanks Largo. CoCo says we got .75 yesterday and we’ll take it. I must say I’m a bit disappointed considering all the hype in the models but there’s more to come. Also that pesky storm keeps showing up on the models as well. It’s so far out at this time it’s more of a watch and see.

breeze's are getting a bit stronger here in my area, and sun's peeking thru the dense overcast which may provide more lift for the showers later today.

Hi John, we got .75 according to CoCo yesterday. We’ve got some rumbling going on but it’s trending to the south and east of us now. Seems the wet pattern will continue so if we’re missed today, tomorrow is another day.

Good afternoon. No complaints with the pattern change here thus far. Last 3 days have brought .10, .77, and .41 (thus far today) for a total of 1.28". Actually had a short-lived thunderstorm this afternoon but the C2G's were generally to my east or west.

Hey everyone! PT I'm with you, I too have found the rainfall totals to be disappointing and certainly not living up to the hype in our area. My gauge readings have been:
.22" - 7am Mon
.44" - 7am Tue
.14" - so far today since 7am
.22" - 7am Mon
.44" - 7am Tue
.14" - so far today since 7am

It’s just came down heavy for a good 20 minutes. I’ll check the rain gauge and report back. And we definitely aren’t getting the hardest part of the storm. North of me is (as always)

Re: CLOSED May Blog: Higher Temps, Higher Dew Points, Higher Irritability
ea Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
339 AM EDT Wed May 16 2018
.SHORT TERM (Today and Thursday)...
Morning IR satellite imagery shows a disorganized area of
low pressure continues to spin across the eastern Gulf of
Mexico. This feature will slowly lift northward, becoming
absorbed in a weak upper trough over the next couple of
days. As it does so, it will continue to generate greater
coverage of showers and storms than we might typically
expect. As some areas of seen upwards of 6 to 9 inches of
rain over the last two days, the threat of localized
flooding will persist.
Nocturnal blossoming of thunderstorms has occurred over the
warm Gulf waters early this morning. This activity will
likely drift toward the Tampa Bay region and points south
through sunrise. Thereafter, a scenario much like yesterday
is primed to unfold. Lingering showers and perhaps even a
few storms will persist through late morning and into the
early afternoon. As daytime heating and seabreeze
convergence increases, storms look to become more numerous
for areas east of the I-75 corridor. Thunderstorm outflows
may eventually allow storms to build back toward the west
Florida coast toward evening.
The story will be much the same on Thursday, but as the
area of low pressure lift north into Georgia and the
Carolinas, greater chances for showers and storms may shift
a bit further inland due to veering winds. Still, most areas
will see at least a chance for showers and thunderstorms,
even as the weak area of low pressure departs.
Temperatures will be quite constant with highs in the low
to mid 80s and lows around 70 degrees.
