Largo,

The only way to prevent the updates is to go into your settings and turn them off. I have done that in the past, but am hesitant to do so with all of the hacking that is going on. I would prefer to have the security patches that Microsoft puts out.

Hi everyone.
That update sounds like a pain in the butt! I hate the IPhone updates too .
Largo- I agree, I sure hope that precipitation map is over- exaggerated! Yikes.

Boy San, you sure do start work early!

Hey Bills! I normally get started around 5am, but I woke up and was not dead tired, so I decided I wanted some quiet time at work. By 6:30, I start getting pulled in every direction and it's hard to get anything done. Thank goodness I work from home!

I just had probably the best storm I have had in quite a while. I had a little bit of everything. I actually jumped with one of the "cracking" thunders! I still have some light rain, but I ran out a few minutes ago to check the gauge (when I thought it was over), and it is showing 2"

Good afternoon. Had some small cells in the area today but none at my homestead. Looks dry through the rest of the work week unless a rogue 20-30% storm pops the next couple of days. Bermuda High is nosing in squashing activity here and favoring the inland/west coast areas in the northern peninsula.

...Heavy Rain Potential Through the Upcoming Holiday Weekend...

Broad low pressure is forecast to enter the southern Gulf of
Mexico from the Caribbean later this week. Regardless of further
development of this feature, tropical moisture will remain well
established over all of East Central Florida with the potential
for locally heavy showers and occasional storms daily through the
upcoming holiday weekend.

Many areas will see between 3 and 5 inches of rain during this
period, however locally higher amounts are possible. Several days
of localized heavy rain will lead to a continuation of flooding
potential through the weekend.

Many areas of the Treasure Coast to Lake Okeechobee are already
saturated, due to rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches over the past
week with some isolated areas greater than a foot since late last
week.

If the forecast rainfall continues as anticipated a Flood Watch
may be needed for portions of East Central Florida. Persons should
be prepared for the likelihood of flooding rains later this week
and into the weekend.

...Moderate Risk of Rip Current Atlantic Beaches...
...Thunderstorms Possible Across South Florida Today...

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Rip currents: There is a moderate risk of rip currents along Atlantic
beaches.

Thunderstorms: A few thunderstorms will be possible over the
Atlantic waters and east coast this morning, becoming scattered
across the interior and Gulf coast this afternoon and evening. The
main threats with any storms will be cloud to ground lightning and
locally heavy rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

A tropical disturbance is forecast to lift slowly northward into the
Gulf of Mexico late this week into the weekend, bringing another
surge of deep tropical moisture to South Florida. Regardless of any
development, numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are
expected to return to the forecast for the end of the week,
continuing through the Memorial Day weekend. Heavy rainfall will be
possible during this time, aggravating ongoing flooding concerns. In
addition, gusty winds and locally rough seas, and occasional
lightning will accompany this activity.

The risk of rip currents will remain elevated for the Atlantic
beaches through the Memorial Day weekend.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be needed today.

Re: CLOSED May Blog: Higher Temps, Higher Dew Points, Higher Irritability

Post by LargoFL on Wed May 23, 2018 11:38 am

(snip) NWS Tampa morning discussion...........
.LONG TERM (Friday - Tuesday)...
The main concern through the long term forecast period
continues to be the potential for heavy rainfall across the
region. A developing area of low pressure in the western
Caribbean will move into the southern Gulf of Mexico this
weekend. The National Hurricane Center is currently giving
this system a 50% chance of development in the next 5 days.
Regardless of development, the real concern with this system
will be the heavy rainfall and flooding potential given the
increasingly saturated ground across the area. Exact
rainfall amounts would ultimately be determined by the track
this system were to take. Much uncertainty exists at the
moment however between model guidance with respect to the
placement, track and strength of this feature. Nevertheless
the one thing that seems certain is that with deep tropical
moisture in place across the area...widespread showers and
storms will be likely nearly everyday. Unfortunately, for
those with Memorial Day weekend plans, it looks like the
weather is going to have a significant impact on them.

With all of the rain across the region for the last week
now, soils are getting very saturated at this point and
rivers are starting to run high (some already in flood
stage). Additional heavy rainfall is not a welcome scenario
for many spots, and hence we will continue to closely
monitor the evolution of this disturbance for this upcoming
weekend. Flood Watches may be needed for portions of the
area in the coming days. Temperatures are forecast to run
below normal on Friday and into the weekend due to the
likelihood of abundant clouds and frequent showers.

For early next week, global models continue to show
cyclonic flow over the region with continued deep moisture
in place across Florida, so the threat for additional
rainfall looks to remain even after this low pressure system
moves north of the region.

60% now................................Special Tropical Weather Outlook...Corrected
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
800 AM EDT Wed May 23 2018

Corrected header

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

A broad surface low centered near the coast of northeastern Belize
continues to produce a large area of cloudiness and showers
extending from the northwestern Caribbean Sea across Cuba and into
the Florida Straits.  Little development is expected during the
next couple of days due to strong upper-level winds and proximity to
the Yucatan Peninsula.  However, environmental conditions are then
forecast to become more conducive for development, and a subtropical
or tropical depression could form this weekend over the eastern or
central Gulf of Mexico.  Regardless of development, locally heavy
rainfall is possible across western Cuba and the Cayman Islands
during the next few days, and over much of Florida and the
northern Gulf Coast during the weekend. For more information on the
heavy rain threat, please see products issued by your local weather
office. The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system
will be issued by 800 PM EDT.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent.

Just checking in here. No rainfall here the last couple of days. Everything stayed inland from me. Not too concerned with the storminess this weekend as it doesn't look like a wind event and we are only sitting at 3.75" so far for the month of May. Just hope no training cells set up along the Nature Coast. That is when we get could potentially get some huge rainfall totals that could lead to some nuisance flooding.
