@Bills
The eyewall is thrashing the coastline now.
Looks to landfall between Panama City and Port St Joe.
Mexico Beach (again) or Tyndall AFB are the likely locations.

Had a brief 5 minute squall move through here earlier that was severe thunderstorm warned. Also a report of a tornado across the river in Clay County.
A TORNADO WAS CONFIRMED ON THE GROUND BY A JAX NWS EMPLOYEE IN LAKE BROOKLYN. (JAX)
Tornado watch til 2AM but I think/hope it'll expire before that. Not much happening on radar at the moment locally to cause concern.

Re: CLOSED Florida/Alabama Blog - October Tropical Mischief
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
410 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018
.DISCUSSION...
Tropical Storm Michael continues to move quickly to the northeast
into the Carolinas while continuing to weaken this morning. Closer to
home, deep tropical moisture remains in place with bands of showers
and thunderstorms lingering from Michael. As Michael pulls away, a
weak frontal boundary will approach the area and will bring with it a
little taste of fall in the form of lower humidity and cooler
overnight lows, but don`t get too excited as it`ll be pretty short-
lived.
For today, temps will top out around 90 across the area with scattered
showers and isolated storms possible mainly from the Bay area south
where deeper moisture is in place. Drier air associated with the
aforementioned boundary will push into the area throughout the
afternoon and evening hours allowing for a mostly dry and sunny day
on Friday. The noticeable cooldown comes Saturday morning as
overnight lows in the upper 50s expected across the Nature Coast with
60s expected everywhere else except for lower 70s near the beaches
and across far SW Florida. High pressure controls the weather through
the weekend while the high moves off the east coast by Monday which
will result in easterly wind flow over Florida returning allowing for
increasing moisture and rain chances to return over the peninsula
through the middle of next week. Temperatures will return to above
normal to start next week.

Re: CLOSED Florida/Alabama Blog - October Tropical Mischief
Hard to feel good about your personal outcome with the storm when you look at the impact it has had on those pore people of Panama City and surrounding areas. Cedar Key and the rest of the Nature Coast were mostly spared the wrath of Michael and the clean up is mostly done. I am at a loss of words for those in the Central Panhandle. This storm was truly a life altering event for those folks. Looking at the blob of convection in the Carib last weekend who would have believed this historic storm was going to be spawned out of it? Unfortunately the entire state of FL is in a bad spot for Hurricanes and it is only a matter of time until the next one.

My guess, or hope, is that there is not much effort to rebuild Mexico Beach. That little stretch of beach has no protection, its low-lying, no dunes or offshore barrier island. Most of it’s recent development occurred last 15 years or so when the St. Joe Paper company turned into the St. Joe realestate company, and they’re focusing more inland these days.

we here dodged a bullet, i was so worried it would make that right turn like they usually do, i had everything prepped to protect my home etc..but the models said NO..not this time and it kept going. I cannot imagine the death toll for those who for whatever reason, stayed and didnt evacuate...this story isnt over yet thats for sure..soooo many houses in sooo many places up there.. they have to go to each one and search for survivors and yes even for the possible bodies
