Good afternoon. First day back to the office was nice all-in-all. Good to see old friends, current friends, and new friendships in the making. Quite chilly though with a morning temp of 36 and a decent breeze. I think temps maxed out in the mid 50's. It may have been as cold indoors (exaggerating here) but my new work space felt like a meat locker. 36 forecast again tonight then a nice rebound going into Friday. I lit a fire yesterday evening and have another going as I post this.

Yeah Largo, I was able to check the models not long ago along with the Jax discussion. 70% chance of rain here at the moment for Saturday.

woot for your cooler temps bills. Enjoy them while they last! Tonight should be good for you then possibly one more night to squeeze in tomorrow before the warmth returns for a bit.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
328 AM EST Thu Nov 29 2018

.SHORT TERM (Today - Friday)...
Pleasant dry weather will continue over the forecast area
today as surface high pressure over the northern peninsula
remains in control. Ample high level moisture streaming
across the Gulf will continue to support considerable high
cloudiness through the day with veering winds into the
northeast and east supporting a warming trend with
temperatures climbing back into the mid and upper 60s during
the afternoon. Tonight into Friday the surface high will
move east into the Atlantic as the next short wave trough
and attendant surface low approaches from the west. A
warming trend along with increasing moisture will continue
as winds become southeasterly on Friday. Tonight will be a
much milder night compared to previous nights with lows in
the lower to mid 40s across the Nature Coast, and upper 40s
to lower 50s central and south with highs on Friday climbing
into the mid 70s north, and upper 70s to lower 80s central
and south.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
245 AM EST Fri Nov 30 2018

.SHORT TERM (Today - Saturday)...
Surface high pressure over northeast Florida early this
morning will move east into the Atlantic today as a short
wave trough and attendant surface low approach from the
west. Ample high level moisture within the subtropical jet
aloft will continue to stream across the region from the
Gulf today with mostly cloudy skies continuing. Winds
veering into the southeast around the departing high will
support a warming trend along with increasing low level
moisture during the day with temperatures returning to near
seasonal levels with highs climbing into the mid and upper
70s.

Tonight through Saturday the surface high will move further
to the east over the Atlantic as the aforementioned short
wave trough and surface low track northeast across the
northeast Gulf coast tonight and then across north Florida
on Saturday. Increasing deep layered moisture within a
developing southerly wind flow between the high to the east
and the low to the northwest along with increasing lift will
result in increasing rain chances late tonight across the
northern Nature Coast, with the highest rain chances (Pops
40 to 70 percent range) likely setting up from the I-4
corridor north into the Nature Coast on Saturday where the
best moisture and upper level support will reside, with
lower rain chances (Pops 20 to 30 percent) as one move
further to the south. Temperatures tonight will be much
milder than previous nights with lows in the lower to mid
60s north, and mid to upper 60s central and south. On
Saturday it will become increasingly humid during the day
with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s north, and upper
70s to lower 80s central and south.

Good morning, TGIF. It has been cold this week, but we didn't have the freeze that was forecast due to the cloud cover that moved in each night. Highs have been in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Today should start a big warming trend and it now looks like we are going to turn wet with a rain event starting tomorrow and lasting several days. The WPC 7 day is showing around 3" for my area with this event, but we are really on the edge of the heaviest precip, with heavier totals in the panhandle. Looks like another shot of cold air comes in mid week next week and then potentially more rain for the following weekend. Gotta love the Florida roller coaster winter weather.

Morning. Took a last minute vacation day today. I'll use it to get the outdoor Christmas decorations up once it warms a tad more. Still in the 40's but will hit the 70's later.

Bring on the rain in the coming days minus the severe. I'm watching the "low rider" storm around next weekend. Looks like it could be a big one. We shall see how it evolves for better or worse over the coming days.

I can attest to your heavy traffic, Largo. I had forgotten how bad central Pinellas can get. We have fewer tourists and snowbirds up here in the northeast part. It would help if your namesake town could spend a bit more money on timing the streetlights. They don't look coordinated at all. lol.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
300 AM EST Sat Dec 1 2018

.DISCUSSION...
Aloft - A closed low over the east-central plains slides toward
the lower Great Lakes as it slowly weakens into a south wave trough
with broad troughing remaining over the nations/s mid-section.
This troughiness along with a ridge from the Atlantic into the
Caribbean sea maintains southwesterly flow over most of the Gulf
of Mexico region for the weekend. Surface - High pressure over the
Atlantic...with a ridge back across Fl and over the Gulf of
Mexico...tracks east along 30 North Latitude with lower level flow
gradually shifting from southeasterly today to southwesterly for
Sun. A warm frontal boundary along the AL/GA/FL border early this
morning slides up along the eastern seaboard today and Sun.

The southwest flow aloft and the lower level flow becoming south
then southwest will stream moisture rich air across the area for the
weekend. Model PWAT values run from around 1.6 inches in the south
to near 2 inches in the north...although these values will trend
down slightly later Sun. This moisture will support slight chance
to likely showers along a few thunderstorms...with the greatest
coverage in the north where the highest moisture is. The cooler
temperatures of a couple of day ago have given way to readings
above normal for the weekend.

Morning all.  Looks like most of the rain is forecast to stay to my north and west.  Look at the totals for SE GA.  That's alot of rain for December.  I'll be happy if I get the forecast .5 - 1" over the next 3 days though.  Best chance here looks to be on Monday when the cold front approaches.

Looks like a roller coaster ride in temps over the next couple of weeks. Warm for the next few days followed by a nice cool down. Then warming up a couple of days late next week/weekend followed by yet another cool down. I'm still quite interested in the storm around next weekend. SPC mentions it in their 4-8 day outlook but for now think there won't be enough instability for severe storms at this time. Subject to change of course.

Day 4-8 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0354 AM CST Sat Dec 01 2018

Valid 041200Z - 091200Z

...DISCUSSION...
Relatively cool and stable conditions will persist across the CONUS
during the D4-D8 period with an amplified, progressive upper-air
pattern.

Offshore winds will be ongoing across the Gulf of Mexico and
Atlantic on Tue/D4 as high pressure drifts from the Plains toward
the Southeast. The remainder of the period will feature multiple
shortwave troughs moving through a cyclonic flow regime aloft over
eastern North America, which in turn will result in reinforcing
polar air masses surging south across the Plains.

Various models do indicate the potential for a lower-latitude trough
to move from the southwestern states across parts of the Gulf Coast
into the Fri/D7-Sat/D8 period. However, only weak instability is
currently expected over land.
