FLORIDA/ALABAMA AND THE HOLIDAY SEASON WEATHER - Page 10 Empty Re: FLORIDA/ALABAMA AND THE HOLIDAY SEASON WEATHER

Post by LargoFL Fri Dec 14, 2018 8:44 am

yeah NWS Melbourne is Warning about the coming Squall line storms.................................
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
A powerful storm system transiting the Gulf Coast will trigger
numerous showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Gulf of Mexico
today. A squall line is expected to cross portions of the central
peninsula this afternoon and evening, bringing a threat for
strong to potentially severe thunderstorms to Lake County and the
Interstate 4 corridor between about 4:00 and 8:00 pm. Storms will
move rapidly northeast at 40 mph and have the potential to produce
damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, deadly cloud to ground lightning,
and torrential downpours of 1 to 2 inches. The environment will
also be favorable for isolated tornadoes. A few strong storms
with gusty winds could develop overnight farther south toward
Osceola, Brevard, and Okeechobee counties as well as the Treasure
Coast.

Residents and visitors within east central Florida should monitor
forecast updates and remain weather aware this afternoon and
evening. Ensure you have a severe weather plan in place that
includes multiple ways to receive timely weather warnings.

FLORIDA/ALABAMA AND THE HOLIDAY SEASON WEATHER - Page 10 Empty Re: FLORIDA/ALABAMA AND THE HOLIDAY SEASON WEATHER

Post by LargoFL Fri Dec 14, 2018 8:50 am

(clipped) storm prediction center........................................Prevalent ongoing convection over much of northern FL should
effectively limit the northward extent of appreciable
destabilization, and thus, the potential for surface-based severe
storms. This suggests that west-central/north-central portions of
the FL Peninsula should have the most probable severe risk today,
which could continue into this evening. Deep-layer shear will
increase to around 35-45 kt across this region by the afternoon,
which will support continued organization of inland-spreading
convection into the western/north-central FL Peninsula. Isolated
strong to damaging winds will likely be the primary threat given the
linear storm mode. A tornado could also occur with circulations
embedded within the line as strong flow in the 0-3 km layer supports
enlarged low-level hodographs.

Well now closing in on 5" today. It is training over Levy County at the moment. Current rainfall rates over 2"/hr, with no end in sight for the next several hours. Should be an interesting commute this afternoon. Local roads are already going under. The local rivers are jumping up fast as well. Definitely an El Nino event.

Good afternoon. Yeah WD, your area has been deluged today. Stay safe.

Bad line of storms there St Pete. May last awhile with the movement.

Slow drip here with heavier bursts. Maybe 1". I don't think the 3-5" with localized 8" materializes.

Should be an interesting commute this afternoon. Local roads are already going under. The local rivers are jumping up fast as well. Definitely an El Nino event.

well I didnt see too much in the way of dangerous strong winds here by me, yeah there were some gusts..my guess around 25-30 mph, enough to sometimes make some tree's sway..by me it was the HEAVY rain, and Booming Thunder..alot of it,,,its been quite awhile since ive had actual booming thunderstorms here..but we did need the rainfall and thankfully the winds didnt get dangerous like they thought they might...we get another front towards the end of the coming week..seems like every weekend we get storms huh.....

Chalk up another 3" my way. I didn't see anything severe, but wasn't watching closely once I saw things breaking up (instead of building up). Lots of long-rumbling thunder with this one.

Hope you're ok up there, WD. Looks like you got plenty.

Morning. 2.89" event total here. Few very light showers nearby then a pleasant week (as illustrated above) before the next system rolls in.
