Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
415 AM EDT Tue Mar 19 2019

.DISCUSSION...
Currently a cold front is stalled out in the
Florida Straits with high pressure in the southeast which
has caused an overrunning scenario for Tuesday.

A trough is pushing along the front which has enhance shower
activity. There will be a sharp contrast when it comes to rain
shower chances. Areas north of Hillsborough County will
stay mostly dry with chances lower than 40 percent. South of
I-4 shower chances will increase quickly with our southern
counties around 90 percent. The cooler northeast flow and
overcast skies will also keep temperatures cool with high
staying in the 60`s.

The front will finally start to move away by Wednesday which will
slowly push out the cloud cover and shower activity and allowing our
temperatures to get back into the 70`s. Thursday and Friday will be
the opposite of the first half of the week. PWs could be as low as
0.3 by Friday which means we will have plenty of sunshine to end the
week with highs staying the mid 70`s.

Temperatures will be on the rise by the weekend with most of us back
in the 80`s. Models have come into better agreement on the next
frontal system heading our way. It looks like the front will be
moving a little slower which means the weekend will stay
dry. A few showers will be possible on Monday but better
shower chances will be coming back into the forecast by next
Tuesday.

NWS MIAMI...803 AM EDT Tue Mar 19 2019

...LOCALIZED URBAN EAST COAST METRO AREA FLOODING POSSIBLE TODAY...
...HAZARDOUS SEAS, ATLANTIC RIPS, AND WATERSPOUTS POSSIBLE TODAY...

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Rip currents: A high rip current risk is forecast for the Atlantic
beaches today.

Flooding: Locally heavy rainfall, particularly over East Coast metro
areas, may cause localized urban flooding. Ponding of water in low-
lying or poorly drained areas will be possible.

Waterspouts: There is a slight risk of waterspouts across all South
Florida waters, particularly along lines of clouds or showers and
thunderstorms.

Waves: Seas are forecast to increase to 7 feet or greater in the
Gulf Stream waters off the Atlantic today, potentially reaching as
high as 10 feet. Seas in the outer Gulf waters are forecast to reach
6-7 feet. This will cause hazardous marine conditions over both the
Atlantic and Gulf waters.

Wind: Gusty winds are forecast across the Atlantic waters, Gulf
waters, and Lake Okeechobee today. This will cause hazardous marine
conditions.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

Widespread rainfall is expected to affect South Florida through
Wednesday, with locally heavy rainfall particularly over East Coast
metro areas. This may cause ponding of water in low-lying or poorly
drained areas and localized urban flooding.

The elevated rip current risk will continue for the Atlantic beaches
through the week.

Hazardous marine conditions for seas and/or gusty winds are expected
to continue for the Gulf waters through Wednesday morning and the
Atlantic waters through Thursday morning.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not anticipated, however individual spotters
are encouraged to report severe weather, flooding, or other weather
hazards to the National Weather Service forecast office in Miami.

Always a few bad apples in the bunch ruining it for everyone else. Sorry to hear bills but nice you got some rain.

It was cold and breezy here too. Heat came on today under cloudy skies, temps in the low 60's, and winds gusting to 30mph or so.

Mid level troughing over the central U.S. moves eastward over the
next 48 hours. The base of the trough moves over Florida by Thursday
morning. The upper low and associated troughing moves over the
northeast U.S. as ridging builds in the area from the west through
the weekend. On the surface, the front has drifted south while high
pressure builds in over the east coast and ridges southwest over
Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. This will bring in decreasing
rain chances and pleasant weather for the remainder of the week and
into the weekend. High temps will be in the low to mid 70`s with
overnight lows in the mid to upper 50`s.

You bet, Aug. JR weather is in full swing. The warm Feb brought out the jasmine, and the house is open overnight. Smile Not the intense blooming that we got last year, but good enough. I remember when my favorite month was April -- March is winning now-a-days.

Sadly, I've been very under the weather since last Monday. Just got back to work on Tue, and I still feel like crap. It's been years since I've gotten sick; this certainly made up for it.

rea Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
315 AM EDT Thu Mar 21 2019

.DISCUSSION...
An upper low sits just south of the Great Lakes with associated
troughing extending south through the Mississippi River Valley.
Farther to the west, sharp ridging extends from Texas northward to
Montana. Cooler and drier air is filtering in on the east side of
this ridge allowing for pleasant weather conditions for the next
couple of days. The ridge approaches the east coast through the
weekend before the next trough moves in by the start of next week.

On the surface, low pressure remains well to the north while high
pressure builds in from the Gulf of Mexico producing pleasant
weather for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
Temperatures will be several degrees below average on Thursday and
Friday before a warm up on Saturday and Sunday. The next cold front
moves north of the area on Monday and Tuesday next week, with only a
slight chance of showers expected. The next brief cool down will
move in on Wednesday with daytime highs in the low to mid 70`s. So
all in all, a relatively quiet weather pattern can be expected for
the next 7 days.

NWS MIAMI for Billsfan!!......348 AM EDT Fri Mar 22 2019

...CHILLY TEMPERATURES ACROSS INTERIOR SOUTH FLORIDA THIS MORNING...
...HIGH TIDES COULD BRING MINOR COASTAL IMPACTS...

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Rip currents: There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the
Atlantic beaches.

Wind: Gusty northwest winds around 20 knots have overspread the
local Atlantic waters and offshore Gulf waters this morning, leading
to hazardous conditions.

Flooding: Locations along both the Atlantic and Gulf coast, as well

Temperatures: A chilly airmass will allow temperatures to drop into
the mid to upper 40s and low 50s across much of interior South
Florida this morning and again overnight.

Waves: Occasional seas to 7 feet are possible in the Gulf Stream
waters off Palm Beach County this morning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

An elevated rip current risk will continue for the Atlantic beaches
through the remainder of the week.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Post by LargoFL Fri Mar 22, 2019 6:34 am

and for us up here pn the central gulf coast......Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
343 AM EDT Fri Mar 22 2019

.SYNOPSIS...
No adverse weather expected through the weekend and much of next
week.

GOES WV imagery illustrates a progressive mainstream flow pattern
across the CONUS with a negatively tilted trough over NV/UT/AZ with
a swath of moisture along and ahead of it over the southern Rockies.
This feature will play a role in our weather on Tue/Wed, as it
weakens and pushes eastward into a persistent ridge over the central
U.S. A deep trough will linger over the eastern U.S. seaboard today
and shear off to the east this weekend as the aforementioned trough
over the southwest U.S. lifts to the east.

.SHORT TERM (Today through Monday)...
Today will see sunny skies with one more day of slightly
below normal temperatures before warming up to at or
slightly above normal this weekend and into much of next
week. Normals are running in the upper 70s to low 80s for
highs and upper 50s to low 60s for lows across much of the
area. In short, some great weather is expected with
northwest flow weakening and veering to the east late
Saturday and through Monday.

.LONG TERM (Tuesday through Friday)...
The next cold front will push into the region - similar to
the cold front we experienced last weekend into earlier this
week. The potential exists for some light showers Tue into
early Wed...with less moisture depth noted over southwest
Florida. Another brief period of near to slightly below
normal temperatures expected Wed/Thu before warming up later
in the week.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
137 AM EDT Sun Mar 24 2019

.SHORT TERM (Today-Monday)...
High pressure to the north shifts east today to over the
Atlantic. Winds will shift to the E/SE and be light enough
for a sea breeze to develop this afternoon. A low pressure
system will move east through the SE US but remain to the
north of the state through Monday, with weak high pressure
continuing to ridge across the state. Highs will be in the
upper 70s to lower 80s each afternoon, with lows tonight in
the lower to mid 50s north, to the upper 50s to mid 60s
central and south.

.LONG TERM (Monday Night-Saturday)...
The cold front associated with the low pressure system to
the north eventually moves through the local area Monday
night/Tuesday, but is expected to remain mostly dry. A
secondary system and upper shortwave will then move into the
area Tuesday night/Wednesday, with a shower or two possible
with it. This also creates a tight pressure gradient just
behind it, with winds increasing for Wednesday as it shifts
off to the east and high pressure to the north builds down
across the area. Cooler and drier air will move in and winds
will remain elevated through Thursday. Winds then subside a
bit through the rest of the period as temperatures and
moisture moderate. Temperatures fall below normal Tuesday
night and continue below to near normal through Thursday
night. Temperatures rise back above normal then Friday
through the end of the period.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
351 AM EDT Wed Mar 27 2019

.SHORT TERM (Today - Thursday)...
A potent shortwave trough swinging southeast through
Florida today and towards the Bahamas on Thursday is helping
to support a surface low just east of southern Florida
today while a strong surface ridge extends from the
northeastern US into the western Gulf of Mexico. Isolated to
scattered showers and a few storms will be possible across
much of the area this morning into early this afternoon as
moisture wraps around this low, but the main weather concern
will revolve around breezy winds brought on by a tight
pressure gradient between the areas of low and high
pressure. A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for this
afternoon due to sustained winds of around 20 to 25 MPH.
Additionally, waves breaking onshore will cause a high risk
of rip currents at area beaches today and tonight.

The breezy north winds today will bring in a shot of cooler
air, with highs this afternoon expected to range from around
70 over the Nature Coast to upper 70s over southwest
Florida. Low temperatures Thursday morning will bottom out
from the mid 40s to around 60, then temperatures will start
to moderate a bit Thursday afternoon as winds turn to more
northeasterly under partly cloudy skies.

Had a brief period of heavy rainfall last night. Ended up with 0.65" in the gauge. Missed out on the hail storm that started in Lafayette County and travelled southeastward through Gilchrist, eastern Dixie and Levy and into Marion County before falling apart. I heard on the news the hail was deep enough to shovel in some areas. Haven't seen any pictures, but I will post them if I find any.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
1013 AM EDT Wed Mar 27 2019

.UPDATE...
A potent shortwave trough is over the region this morning with broad
surface low pressure off the Florida east coast. The morning KTBW
sounding shows very cold temperatures aloft and this has led to
numerous hail reports from around the region. Radar has since
quieted down for the local forecast area and we can expect a mostly
dry rest of the day once the last of the activity winds down. The
afternoon will end up being quite nice as some drier air gets pulled
southward over the region behind the departing low. For the update,
just made a few minor changes to PoPs to account for latest radar
trends, but nothing else is needed at this time.

At the airport in New Orleans and the Weather Channel is on. No volume but looks like east coast Florida is really getting it. Any reports from Aug?

It wasn't bad here. Got clipped yesterday morning by a brief downpour on my way out the door to work. .72" in the gauge. Northern Flagler/southern St Johns County were in the sweet spot. It was quite breezy as well. I'm sure the beaches took a pounding with wind/surf.
