Much different mornin here from the others this week. Very warm and muggy this at the house with some fog. We are going blueberry picking tomorrow at a U pick in Bronson. It is going to be hot, but should be great weather for it. Hope some of the rainfall the models are showing materializes next week. I will gladly take a tenth of an inch to knock the dust down a bit.

That's horrible to hear about the school children. I don't know what the bus stops are like in Poinciana, but here they stop on major roads for drop offs. I have never seen that until I moved to Florida. I mean really! Who stops on a 6 lane divided road to drop off school children on a bus!

National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
214 PM EDT Fri Apr 28 2017
...ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES TODAY AND SATURDAY...
.SHORT TERM (Tonight - Saturday)...
An upper level low sits just north of the four corners region with
broad troughing extending over the western U.S. This upper low will
move southeast through the period and the trough further deepens and
extends well into Mexico by Saturday evening. Upper level ridging
continues to hold over the Florida peninsula and will further build
along the east coast through the short term period. On the surface,
a broad area of high pressure near Bermuda continues to ridge
southwest across the peninsula through the end of the week and into
the weekend. This will keep a southeast through southwest wind flow
over the area which will result in above average temperatures. The
coastal counties will top out in the upper 80`s, while the inland
counties will see daytime highs in the mid 90`s on Friday and
Saturday. Rain free conditions will continue through the weekend.

Good afternoon Largo and all. I'm out of work jail for a couple of days. There is a large fire near the FL/GA border. Winds are out of the south now so no smoke concerns but if winds shift from the NW it'll get smokey here.

Good for you, StAug.  Please enjoy.  I've been in work hell all week and it will continue over the weekend and for the unforeseeable future.  Major multiple fires, and three of them seriously cross my path.  Payback time for the work flexibility that I would typically enjoy.  5 years, 8 months, 11 days  -- I'm out! NWS Tampa (clip)....The frontal system early in the week...the short wave trough
mid-week....and a second and somewhat more robust front at
the end of the week will keep skies partly cloudy and
support a slight chance to a chance of showers with a few
thunderstorms. Temperatures initially run above normal but
then decrease to around normal by Fri due to the clouds and
rainfall. Prevailing light southeast and south winds...with
afternoon sea breezes...continue until Fri when they become
westerly and increase some.

Beh is right. Even NWS JAX is being pessimistic with their forecast and downcasting the long term forecast.
"On Friday a band of thunderstorms will move across the area and we
will have to look for the possibility of severe weather. While
people are looking to this system to drop a significant amount of
rain, am not seeing it right now. Right now looking at 5. to 1 inch
over Florida and 1 to 2 inches across interior southeast Georgia but
nothing that is going to extinguish fires or bust the drought looks
to be in the cards right now. Going to use the old forecaster adage
of "when in drought forecast more drought" at least until something
big comes along to kick it over and this is just not that system.
Would not be surprised to see future model runs backing off on this
system`s storm total rainfall."

Jenny and the panhandle folks ........For Sunday night into Monday, there still remains a marginal risk of
severe weather, mainly across southeast Alabama and the Florida
panhandle. A squall line will be approaching the area late Sunday
night. Guidance indicates a small area of unstable air will persist
ahead of it into the far western portions of our area with
sufficient wind shear to maintain the marginal risk of mainly
damaging winds. The squall line is expected to continue gradually
weakening as it moves eastward with the severe weather threat
decreasing farther to the east.
