well, catch 22 for me. While I appreciate the rain, it really messes up the work schedule. I have to reschedule everyone.

yeah and from what the various NWS say, the next 5-7 days could be just like this or..even heavier rains etc towards mid week next week..even my NWS here is mentioning possible very heavy rains towards next tues-wednesday with possible localized flooding etc...but..in reading all the nws discussions..alot..of uncertainty remains.

Honestly, unless you leave days early, it would be tough getting out of South Florida by car. You never know where storms are going to go. For a time being, Matthew looked like it was going to be a South Florida event. A shift, a wobble and that all changed.
When Hurricane Floyd 1999 had us in his sites, hundreds of thousands of people tried to evacuate. Gas stations ran out of gas, people were stranded on the highways etc... No thanks to that!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Jacksonville FL
1016 AM EDT Fri Jun 2 2017

.UPDATE...Surface analysis was showing a trough near the state
border and a quasi-stationary front across cntl Ga. A short
wave (producing morning showers across N cntl Fl) will move
offshore the Fl east coast this afternoon. Afternoon convection
will be initiated with the combination of heating...the seabreeze
fronts...and the surface trough. High-Res HRRR hinting convection
being enhanced along the surface trough and seabreeze collision
near the I-95 corridor during mid to late afternoon. 12Z JAX
sounding showing less dry air in mid levels so chances of severe
weather appear to be less likely but storms will still be capable
of heavy rain...frequent lightning...gusty winds.

Too late though Sad
It was coming down first thing this morning, and ground is too wet etc...
At least there's cloud cover so it's not quite a 100 degrees. Very Happy

Good Friday afternoon, folks. I'm still alive, having survived a serious work tsunami that kept me underwater for 4 weeks. Flood waters are still hip deep, but I am breathing again, and was able to unwind a bit with the Memorial holiday weekend at my folks place in Jax. I've also got a bunch of home repairs going on, which is an added challenge.

I pretty much missed out on all of the rain some folks got. The month of May was 2 episodes of 1/10" and 2 of 1/4". This is not enough to sustain life, when you have 2 sprinkler zones that blew a head, with no time to fix. Some of my gardens are not pleased with me.

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend and was able to reflect upon why we celebrate it.

I'm not gonna worry about it unless it becomes a Hurricane. It most likely looks like a weak low bringing much needed rains to the FL peninsula.

The radar looked impressive last night and this morning and I thought I was going to get some rainfall, but I had to settle for a brief sprinkle and cloudy conditions. At least it cooled the air temps down significantly, it was really hot and dry the last couple of days here.

JRnOldsmar wrote:Good Friday afternoon, folks.

Hiya JR..and welcome back here!!!!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
219 PM EDT Fri Jun 2 2017

.SHORT TERM (This afternoon - Saturday)...
Upper ridging continues to get pushed into the N Carib while slow
moving shortwave in the SW Gulf will continue WSW mid-upper flow to
push series of vort maxes and pump deepening moisture over the
region from the Gulf through Saturday. Very weak Bermuda high
extending into the area to keep weak low level flow in place with
some diurnal heating through cloud deck to produce afternoon sea
breezes then weak overnight land breeze. All features to combine for
overnight into morning E Gulf convection that will then translate
inland in the afternoons with seabreeze convergence. PWATS expected
around 2 inches which is over the 90 percentile so expect scattered
to numerous rounds of showers with embedded thunderstorms this
afternoon through Saturday for beneficial rainfall. Cloud cover
and rain should keep daytime temps below climate averages with
overnight temps above climo.

Happy Friday everyone!

Nice to see you are surviving the work onslaught JR!  Although radar has looked promising, I'm still sitting here with no rain and cloudy skies.  I'm okay with that, it keeps the temps down a little bit.

Largo, I think I'd ride out a Cat 2 here at the house.  I would guess anything stronger than that and I might consider going inland.

Have y'all seen Levi's vid with his 2017 outlook?  I'm going to post the Youtube link in here, as it will embed it.

Good afternoon.

Nice to see you back JR.

I too would stay hunkered down. There is an emergency shelter (middle school) 2 blocks away I could go to if needed.

Nice Levi update san - I always enjoy his input.

It is raining here. 30 minutes of steady, light rain. May see a quarter inch but radar has potential for more. We shall see.
