Maria is now a Cat 5. Models are far to the east. Gonna be hard to bring it to FL at this point. Works for me but I feel sorry for Dominica and Puerto Rico.
My local Publix was fully stocked and back to business as usual when I picked up a few items over the weekend. Hope ya'll get your stores restocked in the next couple of days.

Hope all are getting back to normal after Irma. Seems the rainy season has possibly come to an end at my neck of the woods. Since even before Irma, we have begun transitioning into Fall and I for one and happy about it. Afternoon temps are still hot, just not quite like they were a few weeks ago. Morning temps have been in the mid to upper 60's now (65 this AM!!)and the humidity is down significantly. We will still have some hot days to come as it is only mid Sept, but we are trending in the right direction now.

Thanks John for the generator advice. I think we have someone that will look at it this afternoon. Fingers crossed.
Happy for you WD that fall is coming to you. We won't even begin to feel anything like that for a minimum of 4 weeks, but as they say, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Have a good day all.

gee with all the bad pics of the flooding going on in so many places..the last thing we need is another hurricane with a lot of rain with it too huh..hopefully the model tracks today will verify and she goes elsewhere,we'll really be in trouble if somehow she changes course and heads this way or to the gulf huh

Good afternoon. If Maria goes east as forecast she should pull down dry, less humid air over Florida - maybe even some cooler temps. Fingers crossed.
I see WD is already benefiting from some milder mornings. Cooled off a tad here but still running on average low 70's during the overnight.

In this case we want Jose there. Â Keeps a weakness in place and prevents the ATL high along with the high over the NE from bridging which would force her more to the west if they did bridge. Â Jose gives Maria an outlet to the north with the weakness between the two ridges.
No doubt I'll continue to watch until she passes by 30N latitude.

I really hope they are correct in the northward movement. If it starts trending west at all trouble. At 175 mph it's going to create a huge wind field?

Good morning Largo and all. Our area hasn't even begun to pick up all the debris. It took about three-four weeks after Wilma. Boy those folks who run the debris removal companies are going to make a killing. Look at Texas and Florida alone with mountains and mountains of debris. Plus minor damages in other states from Harvey and Irma. Guess we won't even have to worry about those names again.

Good afternoon. Been a busy day returning to work after a 2 week hiatus for varying reasons.
Aside from possible higher surf along the FL east coast Maria should be of no concern to FL. NC northward may be another story with how the coastline is much further east in longitude as one goes north.
5pm NHC cone has Maria a good 400-500 miles east of FL.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
920 AM EDT Thu Sep 21 2017
.UPDATE...
The 12Z morning sounding is showing a slight uptick in low and mid
level moisture with a PW of 1.51 inches. This is apparent in
satellite imagery and surface observations showing a SCT/BKN mid
level cloud deck around 10kft. Although there is a little more
cloudiness this morning, a fairly nice day is on tap with partly
cloudy skies and minimal rain chances expected. Similiar to
yesterday, the highest rain chances (20-30 percent) POPs
will remain south of the I-4 corridor over southwest
Florida. Under partly cloudy skies, temps will warm up to
slightly above average with low 90`s expected region wide.
No changes needed for the forecast at this time.
