Hump Day Howling
Ok, it's Hump Day and there is nobody on the site. Guess I will give the bots a reason to be here and write a Hump Day Blog.
Today we start with Fred, Fred smashed the Cape Verde Islands earlier this week Hurricane force winds . Today Fred is getting a taste of Sal,this dry air will keep him in check. As you can see Fred is chewing vigorously and swallowing tons of dust . The dust has made it all the way to his core.
Fred is heading WNW at 10mph with winds of 45mph and a pressure of 1004mb's. I expect Fred to continue on this course with a turn to the North later. We may see a naked swirl soon as the only convection is in the NE Quad.
Fred has two things to contend with, both are storm killers. One is Shear 20kts., the other is dry air from a Saharan Air Layer(SAL) . So in my opinion FRED IS DEAD.
Looking elsewhere in the tropical Atlantic,Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. one feature dominates,shear due to El Nino.
I don't expect tropical development for the next few days.
That concludes my Hump Day Howling...

SAN IS FIRST!
First! Fred was naked almost all day before firing the recent convection.
Ex-Erika will be exiting the GA/FL coastline tomorrow and may provide some entertainment.

Re: Hump Day Howling
1. A well-organized tropical wave will move off of the west coast of
Africa several hundred miles southeast of the Cape Verde Islands
later today. Conditions appear conducive for gradual development
over the weekend and into early next week as the system moves
generally westward at 15 to 20 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent
