Noctilucent Clouds
Did you know there could be space clouds? Noctilucent Clouds could be just that. Noctilucent Clouds are clouds formed from ice Crystals in the Mesosphere. The Mesosphere is the highest layer of our atmosphere. Most of our weather occurs in the troposphere up to twelve miles high. That makes these clouds rare. Noctilucent clouds were first observed in 1885 after the famous Krakatoa volcano eruption. The blast sent dust high in to the mesosphere and the clouds were observed soon after.
Now there is also a belief that these clouds could also be from space. As our galaxy moves through space and our sun rotates in a spiral band and the Earth rotates on it's axis as it revolves around the sun our Atmosphere becomes a virtual scrubber of space. So as we move through space dust particles can be collected in the mesosphere where it contacts space. Numerous things can cause space dust. planets exploding, asteroids colliding ,stars going nova or even black holes. Sometimes meteors burn up in the mesosphere leaving dust. This dust provides the sticky for the ice crystals. NASA is studying Noctilucent clouds and their origin..
Noctilucent clouds are visible in the North and South Polar regions from 40 degrees North and South respectively. They are silver and blue in color with shapes like cirrus clouds
