I couldn’t get signed up with Yahoo the day Gome sent it, then my Mom had some complications with her health this week and it seemed every free moment was spent talking to my aunt and the hospital.

Nice job san.

I'm going all-in this week with my roster. Will be out of remaining picks with Kybu, Harvick, or potentially both after today but plenty of other options to round out the fantasy season next weekend.

A few Saturday tidbits................Weather has been an issue at Indy.

Xfinity practices were canceled as well as qualifying for them. Cup practice was canceled this morning but they have not canceled the final practice or qualifying scheduled at 6:15pm this evening.  In the event those are canceled, the lineup should be set by owner points, I believe.

Could we have a repeat of last year?

Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. crashed out of the 2017 Brickyard 400 at Indy, then Busch's crew chief Adam Stevens got into it with the No. 78 crew.

Kasey Kahne explains why he will miss Indianapolis race, decision to step away after ’18

By Reid Spencer NASCAR Wire Service  September 7, 2018  at 11:53 am
SPEEDWAY, Ind. – In a Friday conference call with reporters, Kasey Kahne provided greater detail as to why he won’t be racing in Sunday’s Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard.

Kahne opted to exit the No. 95 Leavine Family Racing Chevrolet for the final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular-season race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (1 p.m. ET on NBCSN, IMS and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) after suffering from extreme heat exhaustion and dehydration during the final 100 laps of last Sunday’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

The issue has been a chronic problem that came to a head at Darlington, even though Kahne had made a point to stay hydrated in the days leading up to the event.

“I was super hydrated,” said Kahne, who announced in August he will retire from full-time Cup racing at season’s end. “I was in really good condition going into the race. Had a great practice on Friday. About halfway through the race, I started getting to the point where I couldn’t drink any more. Once I can’t drink any more, I’ve already lost a lot more at that point in time in fluids than what I was able to put in.

“That’s why (when) I can’t drink any more, it will start coming back out. I keep drinking the most that I can throughout the rest of the race, but it just gets super hard. My body keeps sweating so much that I have, like, absolutely nothing left by the end of the race.”

Kahne slowed down and tried to stay as motionless as possible inside the car because his heart rate was elevated.

“At Darlington, about 100 (laps) to go, it was really hard to keep my eyes open and see,” Kahne explained. “I was struggling to do that. I was trying to control my heart rate because it was so high. I basically just kind of laid in the car and drove around the corners.

“I had to just control the car just to try to do as little as possible, so my heart rate would go down because it was so high. At that point all I’m doing is focusing on my body and my health, not on what I should be actually focusing on, and that’s racing.

“After the race, I went to the care center. I threw up all the way there. A lot of fans saw it. Threw up in the care center. They got IVs going in both arms. At that point I got to where I wasn’t sick any more. Sick all the way on the drive home.”

Since then, Kahne has been working with his doctors to trying to find a solution.

“It’s just been a rough week,” he said. “That’s where I’m at today. Not racing Indy. Really tough decision. I would much rather be there than not.

“At this point I have to just figure out how to finish these races, how to be able to go that long in a hot car in the environment that we’re in, between the air temp and the dew point degrees, just to control it all.”

If Kahne can’t find a way to combat the condition, he may miss more races than the Brickyard 400. The forecast for the Sept. 15 event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway calls for 100-degree temperatures throughout the weekend.

“Just taking it one race at a time,” Kahne said. “My whole reason for doing this is because I know that Indy is a tough one, the dew point is always up there. I just know that I’ll be in that same situation there.

“For the full race, I’d be in the same situation. I can’t go through it again, so I’ve had to not go there, you know, learn more by the next one, decide from there.”

Champion Martin Truex Jr. on the market for 2019

By Staff Report NASCAR.com  September 4, 2018  at 2:19 pm
Defending Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. will race elsewhere in 2019.

Truex, a four-time winner this year, is in his fifth season with Furniture Row Racing. The Denver, Colorado-based team announced Tuesday that it will cease operations at the end of the 2018 NASCAR season.

Truex, 38, has four wins and four Busch Pole Awards this year for Furniture Row, which operates in partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing. His performance has placed him among the Big 3 championship contenders, alongside other series front-runners Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing and Kevin Harvick of Stewart-Haas Racing.

He and crew chief Cole Pearn have emerged as one of the best driver-crew chief pairings in the garage, and the driver is in the prime of his career.

Truex brought Furniture Row’s No. 78 Toyota its first Monster Energy Series championship last season. The organization began racing operations in 2005.

“I’ve always felt that we could be a competitive team and run for a championship even when it seemed like a pipe dream to many racing insiders,” team owner Barney Visser said in a release provided by the organization. “But to be successful in any business you need to assemble the right people and make a strong commitment to succeed. We achieved what we set out to do and feel like we climbed Mount Everest. To continue with anything less than a competitive team would not be acceptable. It’s been one incredible ride.”

Truex indicated Aug. 17 at Bristol Motor Speedway that his future with Furniture Row was uncertain, saying, “I’m starting to hear rumors. That’s kind of how it works in this sport, I’ve been in this position before.” All but two of his 19 Monster Energy Series wins have come with Furniture Row and Visser.

“Barney Visser, Joe Garone and the entire Furniture Row Racing team took me in while my career was in a bad place, and together we reached the pinnacle of the sport,” Truex Jr. said. “I will forever be grateful to each and every one of them, and also to Furniture Row, Denver Mattress and the Visser family.

“But make no mistake this is not the immediate end. We still have unfinished business to attend to and that’s to give everything we have to successfully defend our Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship. Right now that is foremost on my mind as it is with the entire team.”

Truex marched to his first title in NASCAR’s top division in 2017 by winning eight races, including the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He is also a two-time champion in what is now called the Xfinity Series, going back-to-back in 2004-05.

“NASCAR wishes the very best to Barney Visser and his family,” a NASCAR statement read. “Barney has been a successful owner and an amazing champion, and his presence will certainly be missed. We look forward to seeing Martin Truex Jr., Cole Pearn and the entire No. 78 team finish the 2018 season strong and competing for another championship. NASCAR will continue to work on growing the sport and working with the race teams on competitive and operational excellence. Much of those efforts have already been put in place, and will continue to be a focus.”

NASCAR set to launch NASCAR Fantasy Live 2018 playoffs edition

By Official NASCAR Release NASCAR.com  August 28, 2018  at 6:00 pm
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Just in time for the 2018 NASCAR Playoffs™️, NASCAR®️ has unveiled a new playoffs edition of its popular fantasy game, NASCAR Fantasy Live™️, and players can register today at NASCAR.com/fantasy.

The NASCAR Fantasy Live 2018 Playoffs Game will launch with the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™️ race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 16 and will also be accessible via the NASCAR Mobile app.

While similar in format to the regular-season version, starting rosters will go from five drivers to four, and two of the four drivers must be NASCAR Playoffs-eligible. Players will still be able to use their “garage” pick by swapping in-race for a driver of similar playoff eligibility prior to the beginning of each race’s final stage.

Players must maintain an even balance of two playoff and two non-playoff eligible drivers in their lineup anytime they make a garage swap. Individual drivers can be used an unlimited number of times throughout the NASCAR Playoffs.

Players can begin building lineups at NASCAR.com/fantasy once the official entry list for Las Vegas is posted. Current NASCAR Fantasy Live players will be able to maintain their entries for the NASCAR Playoffs game and all regular season scoring will be reset to zero.

“The NASCAR Playoffs are the most exciting and pressure-packed time of the NASCAR racing season, and the new fantasy game is designed to match the intensity each week of the postseason,” said Tim Clark, vice president, NASCAR Digital Media. “We look forward to seeing how players adjust their strategies and driver lineups — both leading up to and during each of the 10 NASCAR Playoffs races.”

Much like the regular season game, game scoring will once again follow NASCAR official scoring and reward points based on race results and driver finishing position for all three stages. Bonus picks will also remain for the Busch pole winner, stage winners, race winner and winning manufacturer.

Before the NASCAR Playoffs begin in Las Vegas, each player will be asked to pick who they think will win the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship™️. Correct picks will be rewarded with 60 additional bonus points.

The NASCAR Fantasy Live Playoffs game will run throughout the 10-week Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs and culminate with the Ford EcoBoost 400®️ at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18.

The overall points leader after the final NASCAR Playoffs race will be crowned NASCAR Fantasy Live 2018 Playoffs champion and win $5,000. Ten weekly prizes of $250 NASCAR Superstore credits will also be awarded to randomly selected weekly NASCAR Fantasy Live 2018 Playoff Game league winners.

“This year, we made it a goal to have all of our fantasy products reflect modern-day NASCAR as closely as possible,” said Clark. “Delivering a game designed specifically for playoffs racing was a big step in bringing that vision to life.”

For more information on NASCAR Fantasy Live, including rules and eligibility requirements, please visit NASCAR.com/fantasy.

NASCAR 2018 - Page 2 ONBx8dr

It's wet in Indy Sunday but is there a chance?

Sep 9 at 3:52am
The NASCAR Monster Energy Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT. The weekend has been soggy and wet with places in Central Indiana getting well over 3 inches of rain since Friday and some places more. Bottom line it has been wet and we're not 100 percent done with the rain on Sunday.
So what is the forecast for the Brickyard 400 on Sunday? Will they race? While I am NOT very optimistic about the chance of racing Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway but there is still a chance as rain lessens into the afternoon Sunday. But will it be enough? Our ODDS OF RACING Sunday have remained steadfast at 30 percent. The concern Sunday afternoon is lingering rain, mist and drizzle as moisture remains over Indiana. With a large 2 and a half mile track where it can rain on one end and be dry on the other and vice versa that is the first challenge of the day, drying and keeping the track dry. The next challenge in drying the track will be the cool temperatures and lack of wind. And of course any pockets of scattered light rain and mist that is expected during the afternoon.

But it just takes the track getting dry and a long enough break to get the race complete or at least to the end of stage 2. Can they do it? Nothing I see is that optimistic but doesn't mean I am 100 percent right. I am about 75 to 80 percent confident we will be wet into the early afternoon then we will have to deal with lingering rain and drizzle. This is challenging but I do see a scenario, be it slim, that could allow racing. We need the rain not just to taper off but end completely by noon to 2 pm so track drying can get done. Then we need it to stay dry so we can get the race complete. A lot of data suggest the opposite but I have seen crazier things. The meteorologist in me still thinks the odds favor the race being postponed but the fan in me does want to see racing and hopes I am wrong.

Please keep in mind, while I am not confident we race Sunday I am not calling it a washout. There is that chance and I've seen us race even with our Odds of Racing being near 30 percent. It is going to be a long day I think and we will just have to wait on Mother Nature.

How 2018 Fantasy Live for the playoffs works - Some FAQs

By RJ Kraft NASCAR.com  August 28, 2018  at 6:00 pm
NASCAR Fantasy Live’s Playoff game will cover the 10 races in the playoffs and function similarly to the regular-season edition of Fantasy Live. There are some changes to this game from the regular season, which are explained below. Leagues put together in the regular season will be kept intact, although scoring will go back to zero for the playoffs.

Accessing the game to set your roster can be done by logging into your account and going to the Fantasy page (NASCAR.com/Fantasy). You also can access the game by opening NASCAR Mobile, logging into your account and clicking the Fantasy icon on the bottom of the app.

Here is a primer to get you up to speed on the playoff game for 2018.

How is the playoff game different?
The first major difference is that there is no limit on how many times you can use a driver in the playoffs. If you are thinking that means you can roster all of the “Big 3” of Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. — there is a twist there that we will get to below. The roster composition of teams is different from the regular season as well (further explained below) and there are some limits on how you can utilize the garage driver. There also is an additional bonus pick that must be set by the playoff opener in Las Vegas.

What is the roster composition?
Players will be able to field a roster of starters with two active playoff drivers and two non-playoff drivers. You have one driver in your garage. Driver and garage selections lock five minutes before the race start time and do not carry over week-to-week, meaning you need to set your roster for each race.

How does the garage driver work?
Players can substitute their one garage driver up until the start of the Final Stage. Once the Final Stage starts, no more switches are allowed. However, if your garage driver is in the playoffs, you can only swap him for one of your two playoff drivers. If your garage guy is a non-playoff driver, you can only swap him for one of your two non-playoff drivers.

Example: Your active roster for Las Vegas is Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch as playoff drivers with Jamie McMurray and Paul Menard as your non-playoff drivers. Martin Truex Jr. is your garage driver. Truex can only be swapped for Harvick or Busch. You CANNOT replace Truex for McMurray or Menard.

Which races make up the playoffs?
The playoffs, which start Sept. 16, consist of 10 races: Las Vegas, Richmond, Charlotte road course, Dover, Talladega, Kansas, Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead-Miami. Only the Charlotte road course and Homestead-Miami have not held a race this season before the playoffs.

Do eliminated drivers shift from playoff to non-playoff?
Yes, drivers that are eliminated from the playoffs will see their designation (playoff or non-playoff) transition at the start of a new round. This will give players fewer playoff options to choose from as we get deeper into the playoffs but more non-playoff options to choose from at the same time.

So which drivers end up scoring points?
The drivers ending the race in your main roster will comprise the drivers that make up your total score. A driver that ends the race in the garage would not see their results count toward your score.

Are there any limits to how much a driver can be used?
No. Unlike the regular-season game, there are no use limits on any driver. In theory, you could field the same lineup every week if you choose.

What is the scoring system?
The scoring will reflect the NASCAR Official Scoring System. For example, if Chase Elliott wins Stage 1 & Stage 2 and wins the race, he will earn players 60 fantasy points for that particular race just as he would earn 60 points for himself in the season standings.

Drivers running in the top 10 at the end of Stage 1 and Stage 2 receive points, starting with 10 points for first, nine for second, etc. The race winner receives 40 points, while second-place receives 35 points, third receives 34 points and all the way down to 1 point for drivers that finish 36th through 40th.

Are there any bonus picks?
Yes, players can make bonus picks for the pole winner, Stage 1 winner, Stage 2 winner, race winner and manufacturer winner. The pole winner bonus pick selection will lock approximately five minutes before the start time of qualifying. All other bonus picks lock five minutes before the race start time. Bonus picks DO NOT count against driver usage.

NEW FOR THE PLAYOFFS: Players can choose a playoff champion pick that is worth 60 points. This pick will lock five minutes before the green flag of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This bonus will be added to your score at the completion of the 10-week playoffs following the Homestead-Miami Speedway finale.

What is the value of each bonus pick?
Pole Winner (5 points for correct pick)
Stage 1 Winner (10 points for correct pick)
Stage 2 Winner (10 points for correct pick)
Race Winner (30 points for correct pick)
Winning Manufacturer (10 points for correct pick)
Playoffs Champion (60 points for correct pick)

Will my leagues and teams from last year be available?
Regular-season leagues will see their full membership move over to the playoffs while scoring will reset to zero.

Went to the fantasy home page per the article and can't quite figure it out. I'd play. Oh well, it's a week out. Need to get through today first and try to hold off bills!

LOL Bills, I happened to think about the race with 3 laps left in the 2nd stage. I had Truex in and Larson in the garage. I barely got that switch made!

Another win Aug...congrats big boy!

Thanks ladies. I was too wrapped up with work to even think about the race but would have definitely benched Truex. All's well that ends well. Now we reset the clock and onto the playoffs!

Looks like we don't have to do anything to get ready for the Fantasy playoff league. Nascar did everything internally, so we just log in and make out picks!

I reviewed the rules while on quick break today. No limit as to how many times one can select a driver. Just need to pick 2 in the chase and 2 out of the chase. Garage driver (if used) has to be swapped in for a chase/non-chase driver. IE: if your garage driver is out of the chase you can only swap him out for the 2 non chase picks and vice-versa.
