ational Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
308 AM EDT Fri Oct 12 2018

.SHORT TERM (Today-Saturday)...
Upper shortwave moving through the SE US pushing first cold front
of the season into the area early this morning with surface high
pressure dropping into the Gulf Coast region bringing a much
drier airmass to most of the FL Peninsula today through Saturday.
Ahead of the front, some moisture pooling is producing patchy
fog, low clouds and light rain mainly from the Suncoast down
into SW FL early this morning. But with frontal passage and
drier air mixing those conditions are expected to be short
lived except will keep about 20% chance of afternoon showers
as the front finally moves into S FL later today.

Afternoon temps hold in the mid to upper 80s today and Saturday,
while low temps will be noticeable cooler tonight into Saturday
morning. Expect much drier atmosphere over the area with PWATs
dropping to an 1 inch or less through C FL today then through
southern areas tonight-Saturday.

.LONG TERM (Saturday Night - Thursday)...
During the second half of the weekend, broad mid level ridging will
build across the Florida Peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico, shifting
slightly east into the western Atlantic during the first half of
next week. At the surface, a strong ridge of high pressure sprawled
across the eastern US will push east into the Atlantic by early next
week, then will slide south during the middle part of the week as a
cold front advances through the eastern CONUS. This pattern will
support persistent easterly low level flow through the long term
period, with generally isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon. The rain coverage will
become a bit more numerous Tuesday and Wednesday as atmospheric
moisture becomes more favorable. Temperatures will run several
degrees above normal, with highs generally in the upper 80s and low
90s. Sunday morning lows will bottom out in the 60s over the Nature
Coast and low 70s over southwest Florida, then low to mid 70s across
the area through the rest of the week.

Good morning! Happy Friday. The radio weather guy said, maybe, just maybe, we might get a cool front in a week. Pretty please???

It absolutely POURED yesterday afternoon. Of course, right when I left work for the day and had like four stops after work. Rolling Eyes Oh well, I don't melt and the lawn really needed it.

yes that name is gone from the list now forever,i was listening to this scientist about his thoughts on Global warming and he is of the opinion that..the hurricane season just may, be extended a month longer and..there may be reason enough to make a Cat-6 strength in the storm categories in the years to come whew...

Morning all. Sorry to hear about your sisters roof StPete. Hope the house isn't a loss.

It is 56 here right now. First time probably since April I've been able to open up the slider for a bit and give the AC a break. I might be able to squeeze in one more morning tomorrow then afterwards lows go back to the low 70's.

While I was not exactly expecting the forecasted 67 to actually verify, it got down to 65 this morning. The house is wide open, at least for a couple of hours. First Fresh Air. Smile

I'm sure the dogs are lovin' this, Largo!

Congrats on the rain, Bills.

Good/bad news on your sister's front, StPete. Best wishes for her. Michael had crippled many livelihoods. Good riddance to the name.

What an absolutely beautiful morning here! Like JR, I was doubtful about the low temp actually verifying but it did.

StPete, sorry about the roof but I guess if there is a silver lining, at least the house is still intact aside from the roof.

Go-Pro video from Mexico Beach courtesy of Mark Suddath  showing the fury of Michael as he roared ashore.  The gulf isn't even visible at the beginning of the video then a little later surge is pouring over the streets and washing out the road. Structures also visible at the beginning of the video are completely gone or severely damaged.

Once a tropical system passes through an area of water, aren’t the waters cooled, at least temporarily? Seems I’ve heard that before.

Morning all. Another beautiful morning. About 10 degrees warmer than yesterday but still mid 60's.

Largo - do you know what is the culprit for your pollen? Grass? We have none here on the pollen index. Plant growth is slowing down or beginning to go dormant based on plant species.

I had a 4' black racer inside my screen enclosure yesterday afternoon. I grabbed a long broom and tried to guide him towards a screen door I opened but he slithered off into a bed I have thick with butterfly ginger then began making some sort of sound telling me "you best leave me alone". I walked back inside, lol. I don't know if he's still there or relocated overnight. If I spot him in the open I'll try again but not putting my hands anywhere near the plants.

LOL on the Racer, i have one who loves my back yard..an old timer told me never to kill THAT snake..they are the good ones..come to think about it..ive lived here since mid 80's and ive never seen a mouse...the black racer just smiles at me hahaha..he got into my screen door once...i caught him with a semi wet beach towel that the kids were drying out there...worked great, i let him go out back..he never came in again that i know of....yeah pollen is high here..grass and ELM they say

Yeah, they are good snakes and I won't harm them but they'll strike for sure. Just trying to get him back where he belongs. Smile

Do you guys have the huge, green lizards? They look like mini dinosaurs.
