I'm hoping Truex wins the cup. He's been dominant all year, has no drama, and the only one of the finalists without a title.

Congrats to Giancarlo for winning the NL MVP. I figured Altuve had the edge over Judge for the AL MVP but there were a number of guys in the NL whose name wouldn't have surprised me if voted the winner.

Happy for Stanton, but he will be gone soon. New owners are already saying they need to cut the payroll and it angers me. No wonder they cannot generate a fan base down here.

I'd be curious to see who would be willing to take on his salary. I know he signed for 10 years/300 mil a year or two ago. A couple of the big market teams (NY and Boston) have Judge and Betts in RF. Both are young. Stanton is from CA - maybe the Dodgers or Angels would have interest? The Dodgers have Kershaw and his similar salary and the Angels still have a worn-down Pujols and his big salary for another few years. Will be interesting to see where he lands! Miami should hold on to him - they have a good core with Stanton, Dee Gordon, Christian Yelich, Marcel Ozuna, Justin Bour, etc... The offense is there. I think they just need to bolster the pitching staff. They had their ace in Fernandez until the boating accident last year.

I hear Dodgers are the most likely place for Stanton ito land . And I wish they could keep the team together too. It's so sad. I so miss watching Fernandez pitch.

Your Bills made it to the playoffs bills! Since the game will be in Jax any plans to buy tickets? Jacksonville rarely (if ever) sells out so I'm sure you can get some at a reasonable cost if you wanted to.

And hooray to my Chiefs as well! Not sure what to think of them this year. They beat the Patriots and Eagles (top seeds in the AFC/NFC) and lost a very close game to the Steelers. Started out 5-0, lost 6 of 7, then won 4 straight to close out the season.

JR - are you interested in joining the fantasy league? IIRC it's not really your "schtick" but it doesn't take much investment in time and is fun. I barely watched a Nascar race before joining up with the crew 5-6 years ago but now watch the majority of the races and enjoy the gamesmanship.

I just like Daytona. I've been known to show up for 500-, bike-, or firecracker- weeks. Takes me back to the good ole days. Just not as fun as it used to be.

From what I have read, the league becomes active around Feb 5th. I logged in to mine and I'm thinking this year all active teams will remain in the league and you just have to setup your roster again.
