Oh my!! I took a peek at the website and there are big changes. I haven't read up on anything but here are the tidbits you will see when you log in!

Select five starters, one garage driver, and bonus picks before the start of the race. Select Pole Winner bonus pick before the start of qualifying.

Each driver may be used a maximum of ten times during the season in a starting slot. Bonus picks have no usage limit.

Live race fantasy points will update for each of the drivers on your roster. You may swap your garage driver for any starter before the start of the Final Stage. Only drivers that finish in the five starter positions will count toward final points.

Not to sound like a tool but what is a garage driver?  I haven't bothered to look.

These changes seem silly and overdone to me.  I have a suggestion for NASCAR which I haven't/won't submit.  Having played fantasy baseball and football for a number of years the league commissioners have the freedom (a good one will poll their members prior to the season) to customize the scoring system to what is agreed upon by the group as a whole.  NASCAR seems to be saying "Here are the rules whether you like them or not.  Deal with it" Lessons to be learned here IMO.

I really don't like the changes at all. Can only use driver 10 times?
And has anyone figured out what a garage driver is? I cannot figure it out.

I am on the "how to play" page and stumbled upon this although it doesn't help.  The statements I highlighted though seem contradicting  "Participants may select one (1) Garage driver for each Team for each Race. The Garage driver must be selected at least five (5) minutes before each Race’s official start time.  The points of the driver in the Garage spot at the end of the Race will not count toward the final score of the Team.  However, participant may substitute the Garage driver for a driver in the starting roster an unlimited number of times, if desired, until the end of Stage 2 while a Race is in progress.  The combined race points of the drivers that finish the Race in the Team’s five active starting roster slots will count toward the Team’s final score.  Only driver picks that finish a Race in one of the five starting roster slots will count against the maximum limit of ten (10) uses of the driver on the Team for the Season."

Then there's this on a separate topic:  Drivers must actively start and finish a Race in order to receive points.  So if, for example, I have Truex and he's led 200 laps then wrecks on the last lap and finishes 15th having not crossed the finish line I get ZERO points from him?  That sounds absurd.  This will be interesting.  Guess I'll just pick like I did last year and give it 2-3 races to see how this is going to work.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the "garage driver."  If he can't accumulate points, why would I need to replace a starting driver with him?   This makes no sense!

Sounds like in order to play best, you'd have to be glued to the race and a device to make all these changes I won't do that. Why did they mess up a good thing?

Bills, I won't be glued to every race either - there are times when I have other things that take priority! Sounds to me like a way for them to try to boost viewership.

+100. Then they cut out the last 10 races. WTH.

These new rules have taken a lot of the fun of the league. I really enjoyed the LL/PD/FL points aspect. One crash and you could go from blowing everyone away to losing your hiney.

Good morning ! Aug- my thinking is that ratings must plummet once. Football starts back up so I’m wondering if that has anything to do with their cut off date.

Because it looks like in order to be successful, you must be watching the race and able to make changes to your roster.

Alex Bowman won the Daytona pole. That's the one we had to pick today.

Not that I'll copy anyone intentionally, but do any of you have any clue who your garage driver will be? Is this a pool of drivers that don't make the race? Back up drivers on teams?

I really don't know Bills. I think (think being the key word) the garage driver is anyone else racing that day but not in your starting lineup. You'd select them as your 6th driver and can bring them off the bench so to speak.

That's how I understand it as well. I think we'll have a learning curve for the first few races.

Didn't I see your garage driver isn't limited to pickling just 10 times? So say if I use up my ten times taking Truex, I can take him as my garage driver. I better go read rules again lol

That seems right bills. As san said, we'll find out after a couple of races. Now that I think I think what it's about watch it be something else. We shall see!

FYI bills - our league member Rooster passed away so when you don't see any picks from her that's the reason. I wonder if you knew her?? She was a WU refugee who mainly lurked. I think her old name there was PompanoDonna

Picks made.  I'll just say it is NOTHING like I would have done last year given the changes. Given Daytona being such a crapshoot I pretty much have a roster of drivers I know I won't be using 10 times during the season.

Aug- sorry to hear about Rooster. No, I don't recognize the WU name,and given that Pompano is just a stone's throw from me.

Watching XFinity race. Enjoyable. Lots of blocking which I believe may be giving Michael Waltrip heart palpitations.

I was REALLY hoping they would improve on their caution clean up procedures/protocol. It seems like they are under way more caution laps for minor issues. Today's race was ridiculous toward the end with the amount of laps they ran under caution. Red flag it then.
