Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Continues
Yesterday was a sad day in the Weather chasing world... Three chasers lost their lives while chasing a warned storm out in Lubbock, TX.
Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall were chasers that were seen on a national weather channel periodically. Corbin Jaege also lost his life in the accident.

Yes....was sad, could have been any of us..
Not like i haven't chased my share, some to post here...LOL
When I think of cutting my way to the Alabama,Mississippi coast with chainsaws for three days after Katrina, then seeing what I saw..
When I think of pulling pine trees out of my house the morning after the havoc of a major eye wall..and then wondering where to start...
we realize, these people did not die in vain, what they learn helps all...

Re: Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Continues
Sad to hear of the storm chaser fatalities. Avoidable but folks probably got caught up watching the sky versus the roads.
I was watching TWC last night and was extremely disappointed they only gave Kelly a 60 second goodbye on air at the very end of their WU show. He had been giving regular live updates for several weeks but was tossed aside like road kill. No pun intended.
Beautiful pic of the 5 funnels.

Agree Aug.... CNN had an article and TWC did not when I looked at both websites last night. I couldn't even find a mention on the TWC website.

Just dodge any potential severe but best dynamics look north of you as the system scoots off to the NE. I know you know so I'm preaching to the choir. Or is it peaching to the choir?

Well the system is approaching...
I just had a pop up shower ahead of the front.
it deposited .25 of an inch of rain...
So the event has started..
up-date as it happens.

Gomey is in the rain capitol of the US. No true dry season in the Mobile area. Check out the average monthly precip. 3.7" is the worst. I'm envious. http://www.usclimatedata.com/climate/mobile/alabama/united-states/usal0899

Re: Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Continues
40% chance of watch being issued
Mesoscale Discussion 0382
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0433 PM CDT Thu Mar 30 2017
Areas affected...Western/central FL Panhandle...Far southeast
AL...Far southwest GA
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible
Valid 302133Z - 302300Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent
SUMMARY...Convective line approaching the region may pose a risk for
damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two. Trends across the region
will be monitored for possible watch issuance.
DISCUSSION...Well-developed convective line extending from far
southern AL into the northeast Gulf of Mexico is expected to
continue eastward/northeastward over the next several hours. Current
storm motion estimate for this line is northeastward (230-240
degrees) at 40 kt, which brings it near VPS around 22Z and to ECP
around 23Z. The airmass downstream of the line across the
west/central FL Panhandle and southeast AL/southwest GA is
characterized by temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s, dewpoints
in mid 50s to mid 60s, and modest instability. Mesoanalysis
estimates the MLCAPE is currently around 500 J/kg. Low-level
southeasterly flow ahead of the line will help advect better
low-level moisture into the region, resulting in a modest increase
in instability just ahead of the line. This southeasterly low-level
flow will also contribute to better low-level shear, resulting in a
non-zero tornado threat, particularly given the anticipated
moistening of the airmass. Additionally, some forward propagation of
the line may result, contributing to increased threat for damaging
wind gusts. However, coverage of these severe events is currently
expected to be isolated, owing primarily the limited extent of the
better low-level moisture and the resulting less-favorable
thermodynamics inland from the coastal areas. Even so, the
well-developed nature of the approaching line bears watching and
trends across the region will be monitored closely for potential
watch issuance.

The loop reminds me of the old TV days when the signal would go out and there was "snow". I know it's just due to it still being dark there.

It does! What I thought was odd was that the FL loop had more of the white out than the SW loop

I miss TV snow...
When digital TVs lose signal...it locks, sound and picture .You get nothing
Old analog signals you at least got sound and could keep up with the game or show you were watching.

Re: Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Continues
Snipped from the SPC for tomorrow: Organized severe thunderstorm development is expected across parts of eastern Texas into western and central Louisiana Sunday through Sunday night. This includes a risk for tornadic supercells, a few of which could be strong, along with considerable potential for damaging wind gusts with an evolving squall line.
