SOUTHWESTERN HILLSBOROUGH COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 545 AM EDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. However small hail
and gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

through 8:00 AM...

A strong squall was approaching the I-4 Corridor in the pre-dawn
hours and will move into the Orlando Metroplex through sunrise.
Individual storm cells were moving northeast at 45 mph. These fast-
moving storms will affect the I-4 Corridor with frequent lightning...
strong to severe wind gusts...hail...and heavy downpours. Tornadoes
will be possible as well. People in east central Florida should pay
close attention to the weather this morning.

A TORNADO WATCH is in effect for areas along the I-4 Corridor...
including Lake...Volusia...Seminole...and Orange Counties.

FOR SOUTHWESTERN POLK COUNTY...

At 745 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of
Bartow, moving east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Bartow, Lake Wales, Fort Meade, Crooked Lake Park, Dundee,
Frostproof, Hillcrest Heights, Highland Park, Homeland, Alturas, Lake
Wales Municipal Airport, Babson Park, Bartow Municipal Airport,

Rip currents: There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the Gulf
coast beaches today.

Thunderstorms: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to
move into the region later this morning with a frontal boundary. A
few stronger storms will be possible through the afternoon, producing
frequent lightning strikes, locally heavy rain, and gusty winds.

Wind: Stronger storms moving into the region later this morning with
a frontal boundary may produce gusty winds up to 50 mph. Gusty
northwest winds will overspread the South Florida waters behind the
cold front this afternoon and evening leading to hazardous boating
conditions. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect.

Visibility: Patchy fog will be possible over the interior through
daybreak. Local visibilities of less than a mile are possible,
especially near ongoing wildfires.

Waves: Seas will build over both the Gulf and open Atlantic behind a
cold front this afternoon and evening leading rough seas and
hazardous boating conditions.

Instead, even after leaving my bedroom slider open a foot, so that it could wake me up, I slept right through it. Woke up with the last sprinkles happening. Almost a half an inch of rain here -- looks like you got a little over an inch. I'll take it, but I wish Gomey was just a little bit more considerate for us down here. If conditions clear out and the wind dies I think temps will really plummet in FL even. I am expecting upper 30's at my place in North Central Florida on Saturday morning. Would not be surprised to see some frost in some open fields even.

I believe since the energy with this system transferred more East and South of me. That you are correct and may have a better chance of seeing ole Jack ...watch the humidity and dew points before sunrise it will let us know if we will have a mild jack attack!

Forecast was a bust overall around here. I left work early to not get stuck in school traffic and the weather. I had a lovely nap at home LOL. It was good not to have any severe weather. My rain total for Monday and Tuesday was over 5". It's a beautiful day here today. Mild and breezy.

Good Afternoon folks!..walked the dogs in the park and what a Beautiful cool breezy day it turned out to be here..you just KNOW a cold front is moving thru..and I'm guessing all that Heavy hard pouring rain washed away some of that damn Pollen...air is fresh and clean finally.

Why they bother with their predictions is beyond me. They with amend it at least twice during hurricane season, and usually toward the end to "prove" how accurate they are. I get it's a tradition and people love hearing it but... LOL
I think when they predict a busy season it freaks insurance companies out, but when they say below average, it doesn't work that way.

The PWS 1 mile down the road says .05" and my rain gauge had nothing measurable. I woke up at 1:45am to thunder and when I got up at 4:45 there was thunder.

I'm glad you finally got some rain Largo, the line looked much better on my south and north sides.

Sorry, BillsFan. Nice weekend coming though, and its looking like you're week ahead is better than here, due to the easterly flow. After a warmer winter for most of us, this is gonna be a pretty nice April week to be having.

Good afternoon.  Thunder woke me up at 3:30 AM so  had to force myself out of bed to check the radar app on my phone with groggy eyes.  I was clipped by a storm but the "good stuff" passed to the north.  I did have a little pop up storm yesterday afternoon which dropped a quick .2"  Overnight was .11".  .31" total.  Mon night/Tue morning totals were 2.31" so I am pleased.  Amazing how quickly the landscape recovers with the liquid gold.

Perfect April temps are here. I hope everyone enjoys and can avoid a possible late season frost. Not expecting any here with lows remaining 40/low 40's at worst.

I feel ya. I was in the low 90's here this week, and I'm north of Tampa. Enjoy this next week, as it will probably be our last shot at anything remotely resembling spring.

well the next chance for rain here by me according to the latest run of the GFS model is in about 9 days so our dry spell continues,but then we all know these model runs can change on a dime huh...im guessing my area might have to wait for the tropical season to start for any of those good rains to come....sprinklers on LOL

I'm over in the New Port Richey area.  Unfortunately, I'm so close to the coast (about 1 mile) that the sea breeze convection misses me to my east, and the coastal shelf, I believe, plays a role in eastern moving precip splitting in half as it hits my area.  Tarpon and Spring Hill get pounded while I get hosed 75% of the time.

Well, I awoke yesterday morning to the heavy smell of pine needles burning, most likely from the preserve just north of me.  Then today a brush fire at the crossroads of 2 major arteries thru the most densely populated county in the state.

yes its simply amazing how fast..once the humidity drops down that the fire danger starts whew.
