Had some great storms last night. the worst of them went to the east and west of me. I had .72 in the bucket with tons of thunder and lightning. I had no hail but they had plenty in the green swamp area.
Have a great day all!!

Re: CLOSED 7-1-17 Florida/Alabama Weather
Checking in from Levy County. I have been off on a long vacation out west with my family, but have been back for a week now. The Florida rainy season appears to have kicked off full bore while we were gone, but so far for the most part has missed by homestead. It has been really dry in Cedar Key as they only got 2.6" in June and haven't gotten much so far in July. I have been getting just enough to make my grass grow like crazy. It took me 10 hours to mow when we got home. This week we have started having our first batch of the "morning storm" pattern here in the Nature Coast and I have totaled about 1.25" out of the pattern. Today and the next few days look like afternoon storm potential and then a stronger morning storm pattern for the weekend and early next week.

NWS Melbourne......TUE JUL 11 2017
.NOW...
Isolated showers and storms will form along the coast and farther
inland ahead of the developing east coast sea breeze from late
morning through early afternoon. This activity will move slowly
toward the west to northwest, and will produce light to moderate
rainfall. If any storms develop, dangerous cloud to ground
lightning, brief gusty winds and locally heavy downpours will be
possible.
Additional showers will develop across the coastal waters...moving
west to northwest. However...much of this activity should weaken as
it approaches the Treasure Coast.

Good afternoon. Great pic JR! Not sure if it was your camera but the contrast in sky color inside the inner bow vs outward was interesting.
I wouldn't give up on the day yet Largo. The east coast seebreeze is chugging westward through the state. Could go BOOM when it hits the west coast seabreeze and earlier storm outflow boundaries. We shall see.

Thanks, Aug. That was the sky color, and the 2nd bow was pulsing/fading in and out. It was cool.

Got half an inch from earlier storms, and lost power at some point. Still have a chance for more later on. The line is crossing into Hillsborough Co now. It might not hold together this far out. I think we might not have the energy left to keep it going.

Re: CLOSED 7-1-17 Florida/Alabama Weather
Storms were all around yesterday but no rainfall at the house. This Summer has started out as a typical summer rainy season so far with hit or miss showers around the state every day. Some favored areas get it just about daily while some of the not favored areas watch it rain around them. What this Summer has lacked in comparison to the past two is the many large scale systems that enhanced the daily diurnal and nocturnal rainfall pattern around the state. We really haven't seen anything like a dying front or tropical wave to really hang out and enhance the rainfall yet this rainy season. Maybe it starts this week with EX TD4, or maybe this summer we just get what we get with normal pop-up storms along the seabreeze/outflow boundaries.

Good afternoon everyone
It's hit and miss as usual down here. I keep hearing on the radio that it's raining here, raining there, but not in my area, just HOT. If you can believe the WU weather station nearest my house it says it "feels like" 116.

FPL line clearers are working in my neighborhood clearing limbs from the power lines. Silly people plant trees (especially palms) right under the power lines and then do not maintain said trees, and the limbs crash into the lines and cause the power to go out.
The day after the Matthew scare, scare for us at least, not others the winds were still whipping and the power was knocked out for hours because of tree limbs in the way.

Along with points farther north. I'm obsessed with the same, BillsFan!!
The seabreeze definitely seems to be hugging the coast a little longer today. I think we'll see something start popping up here, pretty soon.
