Agreed, WD. Out of the ordinary for this late in April. We'll get 1 really good overnight down here it looks. I will enjoy, but have a work heavy weekend ahead -- Sat night into Sun morning.

Looks like South Florida has good chance for rain through the weekend

I checked the rain gauge at lunch and I ended up with 2.5". This front greatly over performed in my area. Now it looks like COC weather! Hope all have a great weekend

Morning. Beautiful weather here as well. 50 degrees this morning and 82 forecast for this afternoon. .22" total from the last front with St Petes zzzz-cast dominating the week.

Flowers looks great JR. I have to work the next two Sunday evenings/nights so not really looking forward to that. Oh well, I get OT pay.

.SHORT TERM (Today - Tuesday)...
Today and Tuesday, an upper level low will linger east of
Florida as broad ridging aloft builds into the Gulf of
Mexico and Florida Peninsula. At the surface, the
subtropical ridge of high pressure will continue to extend
from the western Atlantic across northern Florida, setting
up light and generally easterly winds across the forecast
area, with an afternoon sea breeze turning winds onshore
near the coast. This pattern will favor warm and rather
stable conditions, with high temperatures topping out in the
upper 80s and low 90s, and morning lows in the 60s and lows
70s. Mostly rain free conditions are expected, but a few
isolated to scattered showers or storms cannot be ruled out
along sea breeze boundaries each afternoon.

Good Monday morning. After a gorgeous weekend, the heat is finally starting to turn on. Highs this week are all upper 80's to low 90's so bye bye Spring, hello Summer. Next rain chance looks to be Friday again, but temps don't really lower this time. I think our frontal season has come to an end. Now we start turning our attention to the rainy season. If you believe the CPC, we are going to have another wet Summer, but ultimately we will see how things turn out.

With it now the end of April, here are my monthly and YTD rainfall totals:

January 5.71"
February 1.86"
March 1.22"
April 5.47"
2019 YTD total 14.26"

.SHORT TERM (Today-Wednesday)...
An U/L ridge will hold over west central and southwest
Florida with strong subsidence and above normal temperatures
across the region each day...with afternoon high
temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90. Surface high
pressure will persist off the mid Atlantic coast with
easterly boundary layer flow across the Florida peninsula.
This will hold the west coast sea breeze boundary near the
coast during the afternoon hours. Sufficient moisture and
instability below a mid level subsidence inversion will
allow a few showers and possibly a thunderstorm to develop
near the coast along the west coast sea breeze boundary
during the late afternoon hours...with the best chance
south of Tampa.

normal temperatures. Deep layer moisture associated with an
U/L low over the Bahamas will gradually advect across the
Florida peninsula late today and Thursday. Conditionally
unstable atmosphere combined with daytime heating will lead
to a chance of afternoon showers and a slight chance of
thunderstorms over the central and southern forecast area
today.

The U/L low over the Bahamas will retrograde toward the
east coast of Florida on Thursday increasing pops across the
forecast area with showers likely and a chance of
thunderstorms.

It has a near zero chance of formation during the next 48 hours, and a 20% (low chance) of development during the next five days.

ok folks..especially those on the east coast. stay a lil extra alert next few days..this whatever is coming to florida then they think it goes back into the ATL then up the east coast of the US and as it does this another front comes down into Florida..so the weather is heating up...we just bought 5 cases of bottled water for the coming storm season.

Thanks, Largo. It looks like we've got a good chance at some rain over the next few days. I'm most interested in what's gonna happen Saturday night. I've got a bike&beer planned for a couple of buddies in Oldsmar.

Thanks Largo. A bit too early for anything serious to crank up but hoping the "blob" brings a bit of rain over here. Jax has 70% rain chances tomorrow and 60% on Friday.

.SHORT TERM (Today-Friday)...
An U/L low will move toward the Florida peninsula today with
increasing deep layer moisture and instability. Scattered to
numerous showers and a few thunderstorms will develop today
across west central and southwest Florida. Shower activity
will gradually decrease tonight with the loss of daytime
heating.

The U/L low will be picked up by the westerlies on Saturday
and lift away from the region. Residual moisture combined
with daytime heating will continue chance of shower and
thunderstorms. Boundary layer flow will become increasingly
onshore which will push highest pops over the interior.

.LONG TERM (Friday night-Wednesday)...
Weak high pressure will build over the forecast area on
Saturday while an U/L trough moves across the Lower
Mississippi Valley. Sufficient deep layer moisture persist
over west central Florida and combined with daytime heating
will allow scattered showers/thunderstorms to develop
across the region. Onshore boundary layer flow will again
favor highest pops over the interior.

The U/L trough will push across the northern and central
Florida peninsula on Sunday with an increasing chance of
showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will build over the
area in the wake of the trough early next week with
increasing large scale subsidence and drier air aloft
advecting over the region. This will decrease risk of shower
activity with only a slight chance of an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm. Daytime temperature will climb back into the
upper 80s to around 90.
