Today Bret is racing through the central Caribbean at 23 mph.....ZOOM,ZOOM,ZOOM!!! 2:00 PM AST Tue Jun 20 Location: 11.6°N 66.2°W Moving: WNW at 23 mph Min pressure: 1009 mb Max sustained: 40 mph As you can see the interaction with the North Coast of South America and Bret's forward speed have knocked 5mph off its wind speed..At 23mph Bret will shear it's self!! So being in an area of 30kt shear and having a high forward speed I see no intensification for Bret in the Near future...It looks like 1/2 a storm with most of the convection on the North Side.. We will see if he starts to slow later this evening....He wont live long if he don't. The same Bermuda High that is providing his speed will also try to ridge to him ...meaning he could even go faster and if so,the speed could possibly weaken Bret even more and maybe destroy him....We wait and will update later if Cindy don't interfere...lol Bret has formed in the Atlantic...more to come .HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT FIND THE DISTURBANCE HAS BECOME A TROPICAL STORM... As of 5:00 PM AST Mon Jun 19 the center of BRET was located near 9.4, -59.8 with movement WNW at 30 mph. The minimum central pressure was 1007 mb with maximum sustained winds of about 40 mph. Here is Bret more later... As you can see wind shear ahead of the system is in the 30kt range. Do I expect this to change? That's a tough question it looks to remain the same but as Bret strengthens it could lessen some and lift North...but for now the tendency is about the same. Meaning conditions will be marginal for development and will be gradual. So I say it remains a tropical storm the next few days. Now where will it go? Ok lets look at the steering currents.. WEST WE GO!!!! look at that strong Bermuda High...He may zoom through the Caribbean and that forward speed will keep Bret from ramping up. But as he moves farther West he will slow and when he does,he may go BOOM!!!..Time to watch and wait! Comments: 18 |
