Good afternoon. She's moving at 315 or so now Largo (due NW). Place your cursor over the eye at the beginning of the loop then compare to the end. Over time the NW heading should turn more NNW then N. Here's a static loop as I believe yours auto-updates. She looks around 20.8N and 69.5W at the moment.

Kinda interesting I ran an errand over lunch. Had over 15" of rain last week. Mowers were out mowing the entrance to the subdivision. I had to drive through a dust cloud. The ground is like a sponge up here.

Hopefully a rumor, but I heard it may be late October before debris is picked up. Miami-Dade offered double the price per cubic load, so we are lowered on the totem pole.

Yes, it is sad for PR. I cannot imagine. They are at least getting supplies in. Hopefully the law that everything has to go through the port of Miami before it can get to San Juan can be relaxed.

Awww Largo, that was very nice of you to mow your neighbor's lawn for him. I hope he recovers quickly!

hi Billsfan, yeah he is 78 and was still going strong till this happened,he should be home in a week I think his wife said..at least he wont have to worry about debris and the lawn..looks good now..on PR they sure will need ship loads of bottled water and food an medical supplies etc and..for the long haul too gee...cannot imagine that happening here in Florida,i guess we really do need to watch these Cat-4's and 5's huh...I do know if Maria hit here by me and the recovery was as long..i myself surely would not have enough supplies to last...I guess this is a learning experience for us all huh on what COULD happen...here in the USA recovery probably wouldn't be soo long but it could be months here too if the damage was so spread out.

NWS Miami....Fri Sep 22 2017

...HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS BEACHES OF PALM BEACH COUNTY...
...MODERATE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS BROWARD BEACHES...
...SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS STORMS THIS AFTERNOON...

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Rip currents: There is High Risk of rip currents along the beaches of
Palm Beach County, and a Moderate Risk of rip currents along the
beaches of Broward County.

Thunderstorms: Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are possible this
afternoon over South Florida. The primary impacts will be lightning
strikes and heavy rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

Scattered to numerous afternoon thunderstorms are possible over
South Florida on Saturday, before drier air works into the area late
this weekend into early next week reducing the coverage of the
thunderstorms.

Long period northeast swells from distant tropical Storm Jose and
Hurricane Maria will continue to lead to an enhancement of rip
currents along all Atlantic beaches through early next week.

Atlantic waters could become hazardous this weekend into early next
week due to the long period of northeast swells.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

NWS Melbourne...FRI SEP 22 2017

.NOW...
Scattered to numerous showers and isolated lightning storms will
move onshore from the Atlantic into the mid afternoon hours. Showers
will mainly affect the coastal counties through late morning and
then move toward the interior by early to mid afternoon. Heavier
showers may bring a half to one inch of rain as they move inland.
At east central Florida beaches a northeast to developing east swell
will contribute to a moderate risk for rip currents. Remember to
only swim near a lifeguard.

Yes Largo, While I fear the CV storms from the east, October and early Nov are worrisome months IMO. You often don't have as much time.

oh if any of you have family or friends around the outer banks of the Carolina's..the over night models all bring Maria real close to..or quite possibly touching the shoreline..might warn them a hurricane or by then a real strong TS..could be up there sometime mid week..dont concentrate on the eye..the storm in area will be quite large

Morning. Had a brief shower around 8:30 or so yesterday evening then another overnight. .24" in the gauge.

Looks like we are moving towards La Nina. Might be a warm, dry fall/winter for the FL peninsula. Time will tell.

Good morning Largo and all. Although right now it's only us, lol.

I learned yesterday a good friend of mine was in the eye of Hurricane Irma with 185 mph winds when it crossed the British Virgin Islands east of Puerto Rico back in early September. I'll dig up a pic or two she provided.

Good morning, All.

First of all, I cannot even comprehend what the folks of the Leeward Islands and PR are facing right now.

An hour long sprinkle yesterday evening as the boomers split my location, and consolidated just past me.  Hellacious light show south of the bay area after sundown.

Love the rainbow and sunset JR.

Raining buckets here now. Irma must've clogged up one of my downspouts. No flow coming through it and gutters overflowing. Guess I know what got added to the chore list this weekend.

Nice rains, StAug. I think Largo is the most diligent among us with the gutters! I use your method as well. Wink

I put these metal sort of lil baskets open at one end that fits into the top of the downspouts..really helps keep the downspout pipe clean of blockages..all I have to do is go on the roof with the blower and blow out the leaves and lil twigs,no clogged downspouts etc...but..its that time of year here when all the tree's start dropping huh..and besides..its a good workout lol

I feel like Largo now - gutters cleaned!  No debris in the downspouts but sorta like a beaver dam surrounding a couple that needed cleaning to get the water flowing again.

Rain stopped.  2.12".  Forecast was for .25" or less.
