Re: 4/16/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog
might be a few Storms in the coming rain over the weekend east coasters............................................Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
320 PM EDT Fri Apr 21 2017
.DISCUSSION...
...Unsettled Weather Sunday into Monday as Low Pressure Tracks
across the Southeast...
Tonight...High pressure offshore will allow low level southeast flow
to continue overnight. Should see isolated light shower activity
remain across the ATLC overnight as low lvl flow veers to SE/SSE
toward morning. A deep layer dry airmass will allow skies to be
mostly clear overnight though some marine stratocu may approach the
Treasure coast late. Areas of smoke are again expected near larger
inland smoldering fires as winds become light around 5 mph or less
inland after midnight. Lows in the lower to mid 60s for the interior
and upper 60s to around 70 along the immediate coast and beaches.
Saturday...Low level winds will veer to the SSE with a slight
increase in low level moisture across the area. GFS hints at some
light QPF along the inland moving sea breeze boundary though NAM and
ECM remain dry. Will lean toward the drier solution and keep any low
afternoon rain chances across far srn sections. Highs will be warmer
in the mid 80s coastal areas to upper 80s for the interior.
Weekend...An area of convection is expected over the SE Gulf and FL
Straits associated with a weak and slow moving upper wave/
disturbance will lift NE ward toward S FL as the upr feature phases
with an approaching shortwave moving across the LWR MS Valley. A
fetch of deeper moisture containing PWAT greater than 1.75" wl be
transported Nwd across the FL peninsula overnight Sat night and into
Sun, bringing an increasing chc of showers along with some embedded
storms. The forecast features isold showers around Lake Okee late
Sat aftn spreading north overnight Sat into Sun with the best chc of
area wide rains along with a chc of storms during Sun.
Low pressure system along the SE US coast late Sun will drag drier
air into the area from the west, effectively shunting moisture and
best chc for rains to the ATLC waters by around daybreak Mon.
Next Week...Post frontal drying behind a rather potent area of low
pressure moving away from the region on Mon with breezy conds will
be expected into Mon eve with dry and mild conditions in place
through at least the middle of next week as high pressure is the
main feature.

Re: 4/16/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog
tampa bay lets hope this pans out huh.........NWS Tampa.....................LONG TERM (Saturday Night - Friday)...
Saturday night and Sunday, as a longwave trough swings south through
the southern Mississippi River Valley, an upstream shortwave trough
will advance into the Florida Peninsula from the eastern Gulf of
Mexico. This will allow for a significant increase in atmospheric
moisture, mostly for the areas south of Interstate 4, with PWAT
values of 1.5 to 2.0 inches forecast. As a result, scattered to
numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Saturday
night and Sunday. The longwave trough will move in late Sunday night
and into Monday, pushing a surface cold front in and leading to
another round of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures
will be a little cooler on Monday, with highs generally in
the upper 70s and low 80s, but will then quickly start to
increase again by Tuesday. The rain chances will move out by
late Monday afternoon through Tuesday as high pressure and
relatively drier air fills in from the west. High pressure
will then build through the rest of the week, with rain free
conditions and increasing temperatures. By the end of the
week, highs are forecast to reach into the low 90s inland,
with generally mid to upper 80s along the coast.

Good luck on the rain Largo. A few more clouds here today as well but no rain chance until tomorrow. It's a little warm but doesn't feel too bad with the sun peeking in/out of the clouds. I've been out checking on some yard sales to pick up some stuff for my daughter but didn't have much luck. Took about a 2 1/2 mile walk afterwards. I need to burn off about 10 lbs I gained over winter.

JR, are you getting in on that little bit of moisture that is sliding east, or did it pop too far north for you?
This is from the PWS Webcam a mile south of me. It is aimed SE, so that rain shaft on the right side of the screen is probably Citrus Park/ Eastlake Tarpon area.

Well, I witnessed Largo's rain shower as I headed down to Clearwater this afternoon. I caught 5 windshield drops with that one. At that point, I was disconnected and indoors until this evening. No diff; 0.00 at my place.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
427 AM EDT Sun Apr 23 2017
.SHORT TERM (Today-Monday)...
An upper trough will be moving over south Florida today as

from the NW. The front will then move through the area late
Sunday night through Monday afternoon with just a slight
chance of rain with the front. Winds will increase for
Monday and be gusty/breezy. Temperatures will be in the mid
to upper 80s this afternoon for highs and in the lower 60s
to lower 70s for lows tonight. Highs Monday will be cooler
behind the front in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

.SHORT TERM (Today-Monday)...
An upper trough will be moving over south Florida today as
an upper low pushes into the deep south tonight. The upper
low will then move over GA/N FL Monday. At the surface, a
weak trough will lift over south Florida today and bring a
chance to likely rain chances across much of the area with
the highest pops south and inland this afternoon. As the
trough pushes east, a cold front will then approach the area
from the NW.

Morning. A bit more humid here this morning with the SW flow. Almost feels like summer. I'm not holding my breath on the rain chances here.
Glad to see SFL get rain but looks like it was hit and miss. Some areas had inches while others virtually nothing.

Morning everyone!
Glad you got a good shower yesterday Largo. It just couldn't make it's way to me. :-( I thought maybe you missed out on it JR.
I see the Collier County fire is still raging. 5500 acres burned and still only 20% contained. The scattered rain didn't put much of a dent in it.

Good morning! Nearly an inch of rain for me so far. It's stopped raining, but still cloudy. Hopefully we get some more!

That's great for you Billsfan! The radar still looks very beneficial for south Florida.
