Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
346 AM EDT Wed Apr 19 2017
.SHORT TERM (Today - Thursday)...
Upper level ridging extends over Florida, then northward over the
eastern seaboard through Thursday. On the surface, strong high
pressure sits north of Nova Scotia and ridges south-southwest
through the western Atlantic. The parent high moves northeastward,
while a secondary high develops off the mid-Atlantic coastline by
Thursday morning. This will keep dry conditions, warm temperatures
and a predominant east through northeast wind flow over the Florida
peninsula.
&&
.Long Term (Thursday Night - Tuesday)...
High pressure will continue to ridge across the area through Sunday
keeping E/SE flow in place with afternoon sea breezes. A cold front
will then move through the area later Sunday through Monday night
bringing a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Drier and slightly cooler high pressure will then build back into
the area for Tuesday. Temperatures will be above normal through
Sunday night, then fall below normal for Monday, and be near normal
Monday night and Tuesday.

that's the trouble with central florida area's this time of year..all the fronts come into the south and then head NE and hardly anything gets down to us here....we must wait for things to change and the storms and rain etc come thru florida from the atlantic or in from the gulf...just a few more months and the change and the tropical season begins...thank goodness for sprinklers lol, but still I lost portions of the lawn grrrr.

Re: 4/16/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog
NWS Tampa...looks like rain chances UP sunday and Monday..........Long Term (Friday Night - Wednesday)...
High pressure will continue to ridge across the area through Sunday
keeping E/SE flow in place with afternoon sea breezes and allowing
for a few afternoon showers Saturday and a chance of some pre-
frontal showers and possibly a storm Sunday. A cold front will then
move through the area Sunday night and Monday bringing a chance of
showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Drier and slightly
cooler high pressure will then build back into the area for Monday
night through Wednesday. Temperatures will be above normal through
Sunday night, then fall below normal for Monday, near normal Monday
night and Tuesday, and above normal Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
905 AM EDT Thu Apr 20 2017
.SHORT TERM (Today)...
An upper ridge ridge was across the area with a dry and
stable airmass...the 12Z TBW RAOB came in with PWAT at 1
inch and an inversion at 765MB. Low level flow was easterly
thanks to Atlantic high pressure ridging west...north of
the area. These features continue during the day with
mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies...as some clouds drift
in from the Atlantic. The upper ridge will preclude any
significant rainfall. Although slightly deeper moisture in
the far south could support a few showers in Charlotte and
Lee counties. Current forecasts on track with no updates
planned.

Thanks for the heads-up, Largo. I was both for and against the Rays moving here, for different reasons. No too disappointed, but I kinda would have liked them here. The increase in traffic shouldn't have been a major impact to me personally.
They've moved on, and are now in the process of screwing up MY park (even further)!.
underutilized-sheffield-park-set-to-shine
I agree with the comments more than the article.
-eagle nests are long-gone
-indiscriminate deforestation (there is NO selective cutting going on)
-not properly maintained
-disc golf?? - don't care one way or the other, except for the habitat destruction that it's causing -- and it is called a "Nature Preserve"
The good side of these changes is that they've cleaned out the drain/flood control ditches/ponds and are rebuilding the decrepit boardwalk.
Regardless, I will still enjoy walking and riding thru the park. It's just no longer the Nature Preserve and small neighborhood park that moved beside, some 20+ years ago. This small town does have a good number of parks, and they've done a good job in connecting them all thru trails and wide-sidewalks.
I'm not alone though -- Your park is next Largo!

Good afternoon.
Glad to hear all went well gomey.
3 day weekend in store for me. I needed a break.
No issues here Largo but I do have issues with my laptop freezing up on occasion. Perhaps that was your issue??
Hmmm, I wonder if a local nor'easter is going to set up shop here in a few days after the FROPA based on the WPC rainfall forecast. Haven't had time to read up on much the past few days.

Re: 4/16/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog
Check out THIS forecast.....................................................Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
412 AM EDT Fri Apr 21 2017
.SHORT TERM (Today-Saturday)...
A weak upper trough will be in place across the western
Gulf through the period. High pressure at the surface will
ridge across the area through the period as an inverted
trough over the southeast Gulf lifts deep moisture and a
chance for rain across the area Saturday afternoon. Dry
conditions this afternoon will cause fire weather concerns
for a few counties. Generally E/SE winds will be in place
with a weak sea breeze near the coast each afternoon.
Temperatures will be above normal, with highs generally in
the 80s and lows in the 60s.
.LONG TERM (Saturday Night - Thursday)...
Models are in reasonably good agreement with synoptic scale
features during the long term period so a blend will be
used. A short wave trough over the southeastern Gulf of
Mexico at the start of the period will be lifting out to the
northeast across the south-central peninsula ahead of an
amplifying upper level trough moving into the eastern U.S..
Deep moisture (Pw`s increasing into the 1.6 to 1.8 inch
range) associated with the short wave trough over the Gulf
will support decent chances for some much needed rainfall
(Pops in the 30 to 60 percent range) with scattered showers
and possibly a few storms expected across central and
southern portions of the forecast area Saturday night, and
then across the entire region on Sunday with the highest
rain chances setting up over inland sections along the sea
breeze boundaries during the afternoon.
During Sunday night into early Monday additional showers and
storms (Pops in the 20 to 30 percent range) will be
possible as a vigorous upper level trough and closed low and
an attendant cold front approach and move across the
forecast area. In the wake of these features pleasant dry
weather will return to the forecast area Tuesday through
Thursday as high pressure builds in over the region.
Temperatures will remain above normal through Sunday night,
then will fall to a few degrees below normal during Monday
and Monday night. Temperatures will then return to near
normal on Tuesday, and then climb to above normal during
Wednesday and Thursday when highs will reach into the upper
80s to around 90 over inland locations each afternoon.

Re: 4/16/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog
The only good thing about this dry weather is the morning lows are actually running a few degrees below average here every morning due to the low humidity and conditions prime for evaporative cooling. This morning it was 52 degrees which feels really cool due to the highs getting into the mid 80's each day. Doesn't look like much rain on the near horizon. WU forecast for Chiefland has about a 40% chance on Sunday with a prediction of 0.06". Hope maybe more will come through to wet down the road as it is getting way too dusty living a mile in off the pavement.

good morning WD,yes local met has my area also at about 40% for sunday but we'll see how this plays out..the real moisture is coming from the carribean I guess..so it may turn out that central and south florida might get a bit more..i sure hope so,everything is so dry here and the pollen still is terrible by me.waterdipper wrote:The only good thing about this dry weather is the morning lows are actually running a few degrees below average here every morning due to the low humidity and conditions prime for evaporative cooling. Nice mornings up there, WD. I've been on the verge of early summer this week, with mornings right around 70. Maybe low to mid 60s coming on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Red flag warnings today for Polk, Manatee, and Hernando.
