good Tuesday morning folks!! well i must have gotten some real good rain overnight here everything is soaking-dripping wet lol..looks like the rains will continue thru the week..our rainy season is here huh..man what horrible news stories out of California huh..real Bad fires there........well have a wonderful day everyone!

Rained here most of yesterday evening, but it was light and I only had .25 in the gauge this AM. I would much rather be dealing with too much rain than wildfires like California is dealing with. Talk about scary. I live in an the middle of 1000's of acres of pine woodlands that haven't burned since the mid 1900's. There is a lot of fuel for a fire to really get out of hand quickly. I try to keep a defensible space around my house, but with a large wildfire the space I have would not do anything to stop the fire. With as much water is around here right now I am not sure you could start a wildfire even if you wanted to.

yeah with all this rain and moisture i think we are safe from fires for awhile huh..the news on the California fires are horrible and with deaths also whew.

well just after 8am and man its really Booming out in the gulf, looks like a line of thunderstorms slowly inch towards the coastline..SAN and maybe even WD etc might be getting this ..wow one just shook my house.

Yes it made it up here Largo. TORRENTIAL downpours off and on so far since around 10 AM. Totals up over 2" so far and it is training this way. Went home at lunch to find a lot of standing water on the road and water from my pond is now up in the yard. Hope the monsoons stop soon or getting to the house is going to be difficult until the water can recede. Levy county has been hammered in July. I have seen some monthly totals that now are topping 20", which is 3X normal. Maybe just maybe August and September will get back to a normal pattern.

ok WD be careful and safe, my neighbor told me we have gotten 5 inches by me since sunday, he has that gauge thing, and..i also got some of that storm this morning, man did it simply Pour down rain lol..well hope that pond overflow doesnt reach your house ..stay safe, more rain coming this whole week whew.

Damn WD, that is a lot of water for July! It seems as though northern Citrus and Levy are always in the sweet spot (along with parts of Hernando). Hope you catch a break soon so that the pond can back off a bit.

producing strong gusty winds...locally heavy rains... and frequent
deadly lightning strikes.

...RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
Many local rivers and streams are running at elevated to flood
levels. Additional rainfall expected today will have the potential
to result in additional river rises from what is currently
forecast. Residents living along rivers and streams should remain
aware of water levels and be ready to move to higher ground
should flooding be observed.

Been busy around work. I have been getting my share of rain almost every day. My July total was 9.25 in the bucket. Just a little above normal for my area. WD need a boat wow that's a lot of rain.

Good Thursday Morning Folks!!..gee i had one big Booming Thunderstorm here around midnight last night,again some heavy rain and booming thunder grrr woke us all up. well weather today is much the same as it has been..news has stories of flooding up in Citrus county etc..and remember dont drive thru standing water over roadways..stay safe out there.......have a wonderful day everyone!

I just watched a tv met describe the possible flooding from the panhandle all the way up the east coast..he mentioned in the next 3 days...folks in some area's of the Florida panhandle could..get 6-8 inches or more rain on top of whats been falling this week...stay safe folks and good luck to those all around florida who are experiencing flooding.

Rainfall amounts around central Florida were 8" above normal, wow.

Says St Pete was below normal in rainfall which I think is misleading.  The July average must include high rainfalls from tropical storms.  I bet if you look only at July's that had no storms, this past month would have been very wet.  It has been raining everyday.

yes indeed and also we must remember..3 blocks from the rain gauge they are quoting, it rained 3 inches and at the gauge nothing..and visa versa huh..we all know..for central Florida.. THIS July was a real wet one..and without any tropical storms etc. my area had a real DRY spring so im thankful for these last few weeks of Good rainfall without any real bad winds mostly...all my tropical plants and lawn etc are doing just Fine now

I don't really have much to say BUT, StPete I totally agree with you statement.
I had 9.25 inches in z-hills and 8 miles north of me in Dade City they had 13 inches of rain. So a wet July it was.

The heat wave in Sweden melted so much of the glacier on their highest mountain, it is no longer the highest mountain. Their 2nd highest mountain is mostly rock, and is now the highest. Hopefully they have a paper mountain to beat the rock mountain.

Geez Largo- I'll be shocked if we get any rain. Barely a cloud in the sky. I'm sick of summer LOL

Hi all. Glad to be back home. The weather cooperated nicely on the way back but 2500 miles on the tires , playing with my 10 year old nephew and 7 year old niece with never-ending energy, brothers AC that broke in 90 degree temps, 4-5 hours of sleep/night has me a bit tired. In other words, great vacation! Wish I had another week to spend. Rain gauge had 2.21" from July 28th through today - most of which fell on Aug 2nd reconciling to a nearby PWS and CoCoRaHS reports.

tropical characteristics while it moves southwestward over the next
day or two, and then lifts back to the northeast while remaining
over warm water through Tuesday. Additional information on this low

Well, the east flow should help out for afternoon showers on the west coast but there is a lot of dry air that will probably prevent much from happening. Maybe by Wed/Thur when the ridge slips south a bit we will have a better shot at some rain. I normally prefer the east flow, and it will change to west with the ridge shift, but hopefully some early morning showers will move in from the Gulf.
