so refresh my memory... You've paid an annual renewal since 1995?  If so, yes, that sounds good.  We deal with Formosan termites down here, very aggressive, but in your area not a concern... yet. Do you have an annual premium with them?  sorry, my mind has been in 24 directions the last week.  We install termite bait stations down here that we check quarterly.  (and bait if needed)... but the Fipronil is the same idea.

Thanks for the reply, BillsFan. Yes, I've had the same termite/pest control service since 1994 (actually Sears, then Terminix). Annual inspections, and 6-month and on-demand indoor/outdoor treatments. I just was wondering about the fipronil, and getting a 2nd option. Wink Thanks.

Thanks for all the updates today Largo.  It's hard to stay updated when you're knee deep in technical meltdowns at work!

What a great amount of precip for some folks in north FL.  I would love to get in on a little action at some point....    fiddle

Whew, just wrapped up work.  11 1/2 hours is good enough.  Tomorrow is my worst day of the week.

Official gauge report is 2.31".  Very nice for here considering April is one of the driest months with an average of 2.57".  Almost got it all in a day.  I've turned off the irrigation and should be good for a couple of weeks. I only use it as a last resort but had to run it the past 3 weeks.

93 and windy is forecast for tomorrow.  I'd get a good wind burn/farmer tan but look to be stuck indoors.

Tomorrow seems to be trending more severe. Heads up

blog - CLOSED 4/2/17 Florida/Alabama Weather Blog - Page 3 5EQ5vp4

Snipped from the SPC overall discussion: ...Southeast into the Mid-Atlantic...
Warm air advection/LLJ related convection should form along the
northward-moving warm front early Wednesday morning across parts of
eastern MS, AL, and perhaps GA. This initial activity will pose a
threat for all severe hazards, including tornadoes along/south of
the front where surface-based convection will be more likely.
Additional supercell development appears likely within the broad
warm sector across the central Gulf Coast States, particularly
across AL into GA/SC Wednesday morning/afternoon as large-scale
ascent associated with the upper trough begins to overspread the
Southeast. Forecast soundings across this region suggest strong
tornadoes will be possible with any discrete storm that can form in
this environment, in addition to very large hail and damaging
straight-line winds. Severe probabilities have been
increased/expanded westward slightly in western AL/eastern MS with
latest model guidance showing convective development both Wednesday
morning and another round associated with the large-scale forcing
for ascent with the upper trough Wednesday afternoon ahead of the
cold front.

Hope this doesn't happen.  The Tuscaloosa tornado will forever be stuck in the memory bank with a few others.  The panic from the videographer is evident.  Just a pointer - if you see a tornado seemingly stationary and it's not moving left to right or vice versa, it's moving TOWARDS you.

Thanks for the updates, Aug.  90s already --- ouch, but I guess you're not seeing much sunlight.  Sounds like we've got a few folks here 'earning their keep' right now.  Wink  I feel your pain; hopefully it all turns into brownie points.

Glad to see that we have another nice weekend left in us here.  And we might even get some dang rain out of it.

NWS Tampa wed 4/5...................(clipped)........As for the front currently in eastern Texas, it will quickly
cross the Gulf of Mexico today and is expected to move
southeast through the forecast area tonight and Thursday
morning. A few showers will be possible late this afternoon
entering Levy County and the adjacent Gulf waters, but the
main event is expected during the overnight hours, with
numerous thunderstorms moving through the Nature Coast and
into the Tampa Bay area, then rain chances tapering off
during the morning hours as the system moves through
Southwest Florida. With moderate speed shear and 500 mb
temperatures of around -10 to -12 C, the potential is in
place for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly after
midnight over the Nature Coast and into the Tampa Bay area.
With the front clearing the area fairly early on Thursday
under breezy west to northwest winds, temperatures should be
quite a bit lower Thursday afternoon, with highs in the 70s
from around the Interstate 4 corridor north, and in the low
80s over Southwest Florida.

Good morning. I picked uo 2.11" yesterday at my place in Longwood. Also had a lot of hail too. Started with pea size hail around 3pm then stopped with a lot of heavy rain and lightning then the heavy rain let up again then much bigger hail began to fall for several minutes infact. Hail was atleast the size of quarters. I find it odd how when there's always a lot of hailk the the rain lets up.

Wow! What a rain event for north central Florida, in April of all months. I was at the southern end of all the action and got 1.1" of beautiful rainfall. Check out these gauged readings from the Suwannee River Water Management District:
Newberry 6.00", Perry 8.30", Itchetucknee Springs 9.75", Fanning Springs 5.3" and Suwannee Farms takes the cake at a whopping 10.2".
Luckily it was very dry or we would have had some major flooding. Took one of my kids to the Dr. in Gville yesterday and they had a couple of their rooms flood due to the heavy rainfall causing a mini-flash flood in their business park. I am sure there are more stories like this all over the area that got hit hardest.

Post by StormTrackerScott Wed Apr 05, 2017 8:09 am

What a day yesterday and the NWS in Melbourne straight up had egg on their faces yesterday I called them at 7am yesterday and said you guys need to get on the ball as this line across north FL is going to build south once we heat up and they told me not to worry as the line will die out. I told them I lived here all my life and I've seen this set up many times before and this will be no different and sure enough I was right. Many areas picked up close to their average April rainfall. However Orlando got left out yesterday as the big storm in my area was building along a out flow boundary that came in from the NE from strong storms in Volusia County.

I think most meteorologists missed it with this system. None of the models were calling for a widespread very heavy rainfall/severe weather event for the northern Florida peninsula. I mean there are some areas in Lafayette county that got over 15" of rainfall in 24 hours!! Also, none of the models or mets said anything about the front moving through then coming back last night as a warm front with another round of heavy rain and storms. Sometimes mother nature is gonna do what ever she wants, regardless of what "the experts" say.

The amazing thing is in most areas this didn't make up for the large rainfall deficit we have been building for the last 6 months.

What they missed or did not anticipate was that pesky little Low that bounced around on the tail end of the front South of Panama city..It was a moisture pump that fed the training. Then as Scott said add day time heating and Boom!..

I don't care how many times I see that video, it scares the devil out of me every time. And I never heard that about tornadoes, that if it doesn't appear to be moving left/right it is moving toward you. Interesting, thank you! Smile

Started with pea size hail around 3pm then stopped with a lot of heavy rain and lightning then the heavy rain let up again then much bigger hail began to fall for several minutes infact. Hail was atleast the size of quarters. I find it odd how when there's always a lot of hailk the the rain lets up.
good morning Scott..glad you got some good rain there..not a drop here by me..just hot and humid and kinda windy yesterday..tonight might be a different story maybe.

once again...NWS Tampa...please be alert and safe folks tonight/tomorrow morning...........................THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
A strong cold front will move across the region late tonight and
early Thursday preceded by scattered to numerous thunderstorms.
A few of the storms could become strong to severe storms and
produce strong damaging winds, hail, locally heavy rainfall, and
frequent deadly lightning strikes.

so refresh my memory...

Good deal! Especially the peace of mind and it's always good if you have a transferrable termite warranty on house should you ever sell. Smile

I don't know what to think about it at all honestly. Part of me thinks it isn't going to materialize.
