Tropical Weather Outlook
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
800 AM EDT Sat Sep 16 2017
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Jose, located several hundred miles south-southeast of Cape
Hatteras, North Carolina, and on Tropical Depression Fourteen,
located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.
1. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave located
about 700 miles east of the Windward Islands continue to show signs
of organization, but it is unclear if the system has a well-defined
center of circulation. Environmental conditions are conducive for
additional development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm
could form at any time today or on Sunday while the system moves
west-northwestward at about 15 mph. Hurricane or tropical storm
watches could be issued for portions of the Lesser Antilles later
today, and interests on those islands should closely monitor the
progress of this system.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...90 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
I can't believe it, here we go again - NOT.
Can anyone recall as many landfall hurricanes in one season? Neighbors behind us had their fallen tree taken care of this morning. I was surprised they chipped the entire tree up. With all the wood fireplaces around you'd think they'd save the trunk and split it. Wouldn't that be something if Maria made, that's my name and bday is 9/24. Very and too coincidental.

yes I'm hoping in 8-9 days time the track will change and CMC says no Florida storke..although it did predict Irma's path correctly beforehand......I hope people are being REAL CAUTIOUS in the clean up..3 people this morning fell off the roof's in my immediate area while cleaning out the gutters and tree branches....stay SAFE out there. pleasePuppyToes wrote:I can't believe it, here we go again - NOT.

I think 2004-5 Florida had like 10 hurricane landfalls? I will need to look that up.

Yes. Very cool we're one day apart. Mom is the 18th. Believe it or not when I was working there were several people that had bday on 9/24. So glad it's not on 9/11!! 55 this year. It hardly seems possible.

BILLSFAN..DONT MISS THIS.................................................Hi Billsfan,
Tell your hubby to check the 120v switch. The one that turns the power on for the electric to flow. Sometime they get weak from not being used. I had to replace mine on my 5500 watts. Just a thought!
Hope that helps

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
Thanks Largo. It sure is a mess! Not a lot of structural damage like we had with Wilma, but a lot tree damage. Not surprising since no storms in 12 years. I really hope we can get generator working in case Maria comes. None of the shops are taking new business. The guy we know took a week or two vacation as last two weeks.

Do you use Sta-Bil in gas tank while it's sitting? Maybe put fresh gas in. Also check carb and clean, might have sediment in float bowl. Check for spark, maybe need coil? This from my husband Ed. Hope it helps Billsfan.

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
Thanks PT and Mr. PT. Yes on the above. The motor aspect works just fine, it's the "generator"' part isn't firing up enough to run everything it should. It's a Generac 8000. And runs AC, tv, drug etc... at present we can run tv and fan.

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
Hey again Billsfan. Ok Ed knows your problem. Yes you're correct generators are made to work and that could be your problem in this case. Call Generac customer service first thing Monday morning and see if they can help you with this issue in the meantime. We were very close and getting a generator and was looking at Generac specifically but we didn't know where to store the fuel so we didn't go forward.

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
It's a great Machine, our mistake. We just keep it empty until he runs it, drain the gas etc. ..
Thanks for the advice.
May Maria go elsewhere!

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
NHC 5am sunday.....Maria..KEY MESSAGES:
1. Maria is expected to strengthen and affect portions of the
Leeward Islands as a hurricane early next week, bringing dangerous
wind, storm surge and rainfall hazards. Hurricane or Tropical
Storm Warnings will likely be required for portions of these
islands today.
2. Maria could also affect the British and U.S. Virgin Islands and
Puerto Rico by mid week as a dangerous major hurricane, and
hurricane watches could be issued for these islands as early as
tonight. Interests in these areas should monitor the progress of
Maria and follow any advice given by local officials.
