toward the Volusia and northern Brevard county coast into late
afternoon and early evening. A few of the stronger storms may

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead

* Flood Warning for Small Streams in...
Northwestern Flagler County in northeastern Florida...

* Until 515 PM EDT

* At 343 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to three inches of rain
has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Andalusia and Espanola.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

No rain up here, Largo. 1" of rain was less than 2 miles away. I was in the line of storms, but got caught in a dry slot. I did get a nasty lightning strike nearby; it took out power for a couple of seconds.

I had 2 rounds of storms late yesterday afternoon/evening. 1.52" total. Had a brief shower earlier but haven't checked the gauge. Guessing .1" tops. HRRR wants to light my area up around 7pm give or take 1-2 hours.

No, the convection built up to just north of me and left me dry. It's pretty typical that Cape Coral gets pounded and just south of the Caloosahatchee we get nothing except a view of the light show.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
A high coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms is expected
today, including over the Space and Treasure Coasts where
lightning storms have been more isolated recently. Initial
development of storms should occur along the sea breeze as it
moves inland from the coast early this afternoon. Coverage and
intensity of storms will increase elsewhere through the remainder
of the afternoon. The primary hazards will be cloud to ground
lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall. Storm motion will be
generally toward the northeast around 10 mph but thunderstorms
that form as a result of boundary collisions will exhibit slow and
erratic movement.

.FLOOD IMPACT...
Slow moving lightning storms will be capable of producing locally
heavy rainfall this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches
in a 60 to 90 minute period will be possible in a few spots which
will cause temporary flooding of roadways and low lying areas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...

Periodic patchy shallow ground fog is possible through sunrise
which will reduce visibility below 1 mile at times.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this morning with an increase
in thunderstorm coverage and intensity this afternoon and early
evening especially across northeast Florida near a meandering
front. Locally heavy rainfall could cause flooding, especially in
poor drainage areas and where recent heavy rainfall occurred.

A few strong to severe storms today could produce gusty winds up
to 60 mph. Excessive lightning is also expected in stronger storms.

Storm motion will be initially to the east to southeast around 10
mph this morning, then into the late afternoon storm motion will
become more erratic and light, which will promote locally heavy
rainfall potential.

..Locally Dense Smoke Impacting Roadways Near Rockledge...

Smoke from a lightning-induced wildfire near Rockledge yesterday
continues to burn and smolder this morning. High humidity and light
winds shifting southwest have caused smoke to spread and cross over
Interstate 95 posing a significant hazard to driving with
visibilities capable of dropping to below one-quarter mile within
very short distances. Select roads in the vicinity may be closed for
the morning commute. Interstate 95 Southbound has already been
closed. The smoke will drift into parts of Rockledge and Cocoa.
Motorists are urged to use extra caution and be prepared to stop.
Detours may cause additional delays. Always use low beam headlights
in fog and smoke.

The smoke hazard will persist beyond sunrise into the mid-morning. As
the wildfire burns well into the day...diurnal mixing will help thin
and disperse the smoke.

well NWS is saying we on the gulf coast..our harder rain chances may be Wednesday as the storms may get pinned to the coastline..and with slow moving storms whew..might be a lot of rain for us tomorrow.

I am up to 21.41 inches of rain for June so far. So if you all want this kind of rain,I'll try to ship it to you!!! Even the grass is water logged and wont grow. Have not ben able to do any yard work and the only thing that loves this rain is the weeds!!!...

Convection set up over the I-75/US-41 corridors midday today and is now slowly starting to build back in towards the coast. I don't expect anything as dramatic as last night's Special Weather Statement storm, but we'll see!

Local met on baynews9 is saying some storms should be drifting westward towards our gulf coast area's late afternoon/evening tonight,we'll see how this plays out...sure would like some once again here by me..these sunny and hot days sure do a number on plants and grasses huh.

I dunno, it sure looks like the storms are moving eastward not westward .......

well just checked outside and the moisture clouds are getting higher out in the gulf,and it sure seems like the humidity is high here by my area...could it be our rain chances once again could come from the gulf later today?...lets see how it all plays out.

NHC is saying that African wave that everyone was watching over in the doc's blog...has died off...kinda early in the season yet for those waves to develop and make it all the way over here..conditions just aren't right just yet.

The last 3 days were welcoming here with a combined total of 4.02"

Yeah, both were from yesterday although the top one which is zoomed has a time stamp of today.  But if you compare to the other radar you can see the rain in identical locations.

Current radar from Tampa.  This is static and won't update. Good luck later west coasters!

Small cell popped in Pinellas in the Dunedin area.

Thanks, Aug. That Dunedin storm is just a few miles due west.
