This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for West Central And Southwest
Florida.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
...THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
Scattered thunderstorms will likely develop late this morning and
last into the afternoon and evening hours. Locally heavy rainfall
and gusty winds will accompany the strongest storms.
...FLOOD IMPACT...
Several days of heavy rainfall have led to flooding in some areas.
As the ground remains saturated, and locally heavy rain will be
possible again today, flooding may become a concern once again.
This will especially be true of areas along the west central and
southwest Florida coast.
...RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
Several area rivers remain in flood stage due to runoff from the
recent heavy rains. River flooding may worsen in some areas where
additional heavy rain develops.

Well another .8 overnight. It looks like the train is setting up a little further north today. That's good for Manatee and Sarasota. They need to drain and dry out a bit. San has incoming now.

Hiya guys!!
I've had a bit of the rain train the past couple of days! These numbers don't include today - I have about 2.52" sitting in the gauge since 7am this morning. Without today's tally, I was up to 11.02" for the month. It really rallied, as I thought I was going to be lucky to hit 6" for the month the way it was going!
The last 8 days up to and including yesterday:

still 9-10 days out no track can be trusted yet..lets wait to see what the models say on Labor Day,but..its a good idea, if we go over our storm plans since the Peak of season is fast approaching and decide what we would do or go IF...guess we need to remember there will be more storms after this one probably.

93L......
1. A low pressure area located just west of the Cabo Verde Islands has
become better defined since yesterday. Any significant increase in
the associated thunderstorm activity would result in the formation
of a tropical depression within the next day or two. The low is
forecast to move generally west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph over
the tropical Atlantic during the next several days. Heavy rain is
possible over portions of the northwestern Cabo Verde Islands
through tonight.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

San, you've had more rain the past 5 days (counting your today total) then I have the past 5 1/2 weeks.
Yeah Largo, last thing TX/LA needs is a quick 1-2 punch. Eastern FL experienced the same in 2004 with Frances and Jeanne (both strong hurricanes) making landfall around Pt St Lucie within a 3 week period.
Send 93L away from here. Looks like it could be a healthy storm down the road.

Uggh Aug. What unpleasant memories! Frances meandered out there for an eternity it seemed. Knocked our power out three or four days ahead of her landfall 2 hours north of us. They wouldn't come out and fix the lines as the winds were TS strength for days (even though we didn't even get it! )

yes we have many days watching 93, I'm hoping it falls apart somehow but in reading the NHC discussions..that doesn't seem like it will happen..well I guess we could live with a oh Cat-1 hurricane, hope nothing stronger should it hit Florida....but again..its a good time for us to go over plans etc..just in case...look at how many in texas didn't listen and look at what's going on over there now..thousands being rescued..gee...Hurricane season..always have the plan and be prepared always huh.

And I would throw in Charlie, for the Polk Co Trifecta. I was shocked driving into Orlando the day after Jeanne blew through.
I got another .5 today, so am in good shape. 3.2" for the event, following a 10-day dry spell.

I honestly am not sure how an evacuation would work in Houston. The Rita evacuation was a nightmare and there's probably even more people there now. Ditto South Florida. An evac would be impossible I think.

Contra-flow has since been implemented after the Floyd scare but with the ever increasing population I agree it'd be impossible unless you get out days in advance. We can all pool our resources for a private jet.

Re: CLOSED FLORIDA/ALABAMA/TROPICAL BLOG
I was mesmerized by the Frances loop... it's amazing to me how storms can keep a good chunk of their structure crossing Florida.
I have my opinion on the lack of an evac in Houston. I believe they had plenty of notice ahead of time, and those in low lying areas should have been under evacuation orders. I understand the complications regarding an evac in a city the size of Houston, but I don't think the Mayor handled this responsibly.
He basically told everyone that there was hype around the expectations of Harvey. He should have asked those that had the ability, to evacuate so that resources could be utilized for those who didn't.... Just my little ole opine.
