ok Billsfan, i see alot of storms to my west around Tampa area..next few hours we should get the rains here on the gulf coast,i just looked outside, sun is gone and a light overcast has covered my skies here..sure hope the rain doesnt miss me.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Western Orange County in east central Florida...

* Until 615 PM EDT.

* At 442 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small
stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain has
already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Orlando, Apopka, Ocoee, and Winter Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

yes im thinking that is what's happening here by me also gee...but the Tampa area is getting hammered with alot of Lighting along with the heavy rains etc.. etc..i hope later some of that moves across the bay to me lol

well there sure are alot of rain clouds over across the bay by Tampa area..the thunder boomers are really far off in the distance,hope no lightning injuries over there whew.

this storm.

of west central and southwest Florida. A few storms will be
capable of producing strong gusty winds...locally heavy rain...
and frequent deadly lightning strikes.

...FLOOD IMPACT...
Locally heavy rainfall is possible and may cause flooding of low
lying flood prone areas and poor drainage areas as well as
ponding of water on roadways. Motorists should exercise caution.

...RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
Heavy rain that fell on Sunday and additional rain expected today
may cause a few rivers across west central Florida to rise above
flood stage over the next several days. Residents living along
rivers or faster flowing streams should remain aware of water
levels and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding be
observed.

Good Monday morning. I got lucky enough to get two rounds of rain yesterday. One nice light rain in the early afternoon and then a big T-storm in the evening around 9 PM. I ended up with 1.35" total for the day. I have been getting at least one nice T storm a week for the month of June and I am now up to 5.67" for the month which is probably right around normal. Looks like normal east flow summer time pattern is continuing this the next couple of days with hot temps, high humidity and afternoon showers. Forecast for now is to switch back to westerly flow and morning showers from Wed-Fri. Then, we switch again back to easterly flow with some additional disturbances to enhance our afternoon showers for the weekend. Here is what the NWS Tampa Bay has to say about it:

.MID/LONG TERM (Tuesday Night-Sunday)...
Period will begin with an extensive U/L ridge across the southern
tier of the U.S extending from the desert southwest...across the
southern Plains...to the Florida peninsula. An U/L disturbance
will dig over the Great Lakes on Wednesday with the trough axis
approaching the eastern seaboard Wednesday night and Thursday. May
see a brief dip in heights over extreme north Florida Wednesday
night, however this will be very short lived as the trough lifts
out to the northeast on Thursday.

An U/L disturbance will push onshore the west coast of the CONUS on
Thursday which will help build the downstream ridge with the center
shifting east to the Lower Mississippi Valley. As the S/W digs over
the intermountain west on Friday and begins to lift over the
northern/central Plains over the weekend, the center of the
downstream ridge and associated excessive heat will continue to
build and shift to the Ohio River Valley and mid Atlantic coast.
Florida will be located on the south side of the U/L ridge...and
heights will actually lower a bit as the core of the high lifts
north of the area.

At the surface, a weak ridge axis will extend across south central
Florida from high pressure over the western Atlantic...and will
persist over the forecast area Wednesday through Friday with onshore
boundary layer flow along the west coast of Florida. This will
promote scattered showers/thunderstorms to develop along the west
coast sea breeze boundary over the coastal counties during the
morning/early afternoon hours...pushing inland and increasing in
areal coverage during the afternoon hours. Highest pops over
southwest Florida in region of best L/L convergence and deep layer
moisture. Very warm muggy conditions will also persist with winds
off the very warm Gulf of waters...with overnight lows several
degrees above climatic normals.

A bit of uncertainty toward the end of the long range period. As
the U/L ridge shifts north of the region over the weekend and
Florida sits on south side of the U/L high...very possible a few
weak U/L disturbances will slide under the ridge and track from east
to west across the peninsula. This would provide some additional
U/L forcing to aid in thunderstorm development. Boundary layer winds
will become light from the east to southeast which will enhance
convergence along the west coast sea breeze boundary, holding it
closer to the west coast of Florida. Scattered to numerous afternoon
showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain possible under
this scenario.

be possible across all South Florida waters today.

Irritating storms!! Coming right at me, and poofing as it did. I got .1 of sprinkles. Went for a bike ride to taunt it, expecting to find a park shelter when it really came down. Never needed to stop, but it was a nice and cool ride.

well no rain by me yet, outside Very Humid and HOT!!..;lets see if those storms in south Florida make it up here later. they seem to be flowing NW

Good Tuesday morning folks!!...and OMG what a STORM i GOT HERE BY ME LAST NIGHT!!!....booming thunder and lightning for what seemed like hours,then came the HEAVY pouring rain for sure well over an hour, then it eased up and the storm moved slowly away and the thunder booming kept up for awhile..I have no idea on rainfall amounts..my guess is several inches by my house...well with that news, guess i'll make the blogs coffee...have a great day everyone!

Morning All,
Largo yes I got 1.58 in the bucket sunday late afternoon and evening. I got .14 in the bucket last night. So for the month I have 4.69 in the bucket. Sunday was crazy lightning and thunder that rolled on forever. Lasted about 2 hours. I see Tampa and parts west got really good rain last night.

yeah that was a bad one last night here by me John but...i really needed all that rain badly

well today im a happy camper..just walked around outside and for the first time in a LONG while..my ground is still soaking wet!!!!...st Pete..did you get a good rain yesterday too? boy was it BOOMING loud and strong, thunder was shaking my house lol...nws was saying 40+mph winds, but i dont see any big branches down etc this time.
