Re: Tropical Threats First Part of Sept
Good morning, all. I hope that we are all able to check in today. I've got power at the house in Oldsmar (my network and pool are up and running). Neighbor says no damage to the neighborhood. I'll be heading home by this evening, once we are all green lights at work.

Hey! Hope everyone is ok and rode out the hurricane in good shape. We are all fine. The mutts and us slept through the night fine. No damage. Wind is hustling now though. Lots of leaves and little branches down. Neighbors behind us lost a tree and missed our fence.

I'm back!!! Just got power 30 minutes ago. We lost power 9 pm on Saturday. Had TS/Hurricane winds/gusts for over 30 hours. Then the generator died unexpectedly. Lost most food. Gave meats to neighbor to cook for neighbors.

NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
200 PM EDT Thu Sep 14 2017
Corrected for location of second system
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical
Storm Jose, located over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean.
1. A tropical wave located about 800 miles southwest of the Cabo Verde
Islands is producing disorganized cloudiness and showers.
Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual
development of this system, and a tropical depression will likely
form early next week while it moves westward at around 15 mph across
the tropical Atlantic.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.
2. Another tropical wave, located south of the Cabo Verde Islands, is
producing a large area of shower and thunderstorm activity. This

become a tropical depression during the next couple of days before
upper-level winds become less conducive for development. The
disturbance is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward at 10
to 15 mph across the far eastern tropical Atlantic for the next
several days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

They said on the radio that the one behind TD 14 is the one we'll need to be watching. She said Maria will watched. Uggh
A little early to be saying that. Unless she's a psychic.

The older I get the more anxiety hurricanes give me. Eastern TN, Western NC, or Western VA, southern WVA sounds good.

Lol we've been saying. Tennessee here we come, a bunch of weary hurricane folks from Florida. It's been 12 years since dealing with one and its harder the older we get.

All of those areas are good choices! Low risk of tropical impacts, minimal severe weather in relation to other locations, and the bonus - a full four seasons with actual changing of colors. (Oh, and I'm partial to TN...lol)

Re: Tropical Threats First Part of Sept
I just read on one of my FB pages that is called "Weather Maps", that it now has a new page. It is run by Ryan Maue and he commented in there that he is no longer affiliated with Weather Bell.
I had heard some rumors, but that confirmed it.
https://www.facebook.com/wxmaps/
The homepage URL in the "About" section on the FB page is https://weather.us/
I played with it a bit, but not sure it is very user friendly.

Hmm... the forecast XL page is kinda cool... it has multiple models and the bar graph shows the precip/wind, etc.... with a different color bar for each model.

Hubby has been here since 79, me 83, but hurricanes get tougher to deal with the older we get. My generator is coming home tomorrow and for that I'm grateful and releived.
