CLOSED Tropical Season heats up for Florida/Alabama

Good afternoon. I'm half tempted to signal the "all clear" for Florida the rest of the year from a hurricane perspective but still 5 weeks or so to go until late season threats shift elsewhere. I don't want to jinx anyone.

Easterly flow continues on. Had 2 very brief bursts of 3 minute rain this morning.

hey St Pete and JR.....some Bad thunderstorms filled with Lightning and heavy downpouring rain etc about to come across the bay from Tampa,towards Pinellas..this is a bad line of storms guys..stay safe ok.

COUNTIES UNTIL 630 PM EDT...

At 533 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Zephyrhills North to near Parrish to
Myakka River State Park. Movement was west at 20 mph.

Winds of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Tampa, Clearwater, Lakeland, Largo, Sarasota, Bradenton, Pinellas
Park, Plant City, Temple Terrace, Seminole, New Port Richey,
Zephyrhills, Palmetto, Dade City, Downtown Saint Petersburg, Hudson,
Fort Desoto Park, Holiday, Fish Hawk and Saint Petersburg.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

one good thing, the TV guy says this bad line of storms is really moving and wont be like the storm line here yesterday that stayed around for hours..hope no real bad winds like yesterday

Nor South Florida. I consider this time of year our peak season. Once anything makes it way into the western Caribbean or GOM it comes our way

Good Tuesday Morning folks..well i sure got one strong and long lasting Thunderstorm last night..and it wasnt "fast Moving"..it stuck around awhile by me..Booming thunder and lots of Lightning, wind..and Heavy down pouring rain..now that..i needed..well have a great day everyone!!

How are termites doing this time of year? 2 recent tents near me, and I hardly ever see any. Does the wetter weather impact them? TIA.

For most of the year, termites are hidden away, silently chomping on the wood from the inside out. During the Spring/Fall they “swarm” and that’s when most people discover they have a problem. When termites swarm, they are starting new colonies. Since the majority of folks find out they have termites roughly at the same time, we get swamped during these months. Usually by this time of year, tentings are winding down, but often companies will push their warrantied work until it slows down. We offer discounts to people who are willing to wait until off season to tent.

yes it sure poured down heavy by me whew..the lake in the park went up a foot and alot of LOW patches in the grass are now lil ponds..and it seems more storms again here later today

and another day of ALOT of storms in the same area's of the western panhandle and beyond..

ok models are beginning to hint at some storm action in the Caribbean sea below us around the first 2 weeks of October..who knows if it verifies, still weeks away huh

ok, this time of year i always stay alert to the gulf kind of storms and below us,along with any tail end cold front LOWS that drag thru the gulf..i always stay extra alert in Oct and beginning of November...hopefully we get thru the end of this season without any bad storms giving us damage huh

That was quite a thrunderstorm Largo. I went to the Rays game and they let people park for free because the folks collecting money and directing cars didn’t want to stand out in all the lightning.

gee another Bad Thunderstorm here by me Last night(Tuesday)...along with all the rain and some wind..the TV weather guy said there were 1000 Lightning strikes every 10 minutes here in Pinellas county and..we had several rounds of that..man it was a very LOUD dinner time  whew

Good Wednesday Morning folks!!...it looks like summer wants to hang out a lil longer here in Florida..whew these 90+ temps. high Humidity etc are really making the daytime outdoors really hard on me, but we all know sooner or later the cold fronts will..be knocking on our doors huh lol..well have a wonderful day everyone!!

Well, after a prolific rainy season here in the Nature Coast that began in May, it appears the season is starting to wind down here. Following my string of 23 straight days of rainfall from August into mid September, I have only had 2 rain days in the last 10 days and they totaled up less than an inch. Temps and humidity are still high for late September, but you can feel a slight change in the humidity level in the mornings and the afternoon storms are now isolated instead of numerous like they have been the entire summer. Now we are waiting the first frontal passage that will drop our humidity levels and temps down to more tolerable levels.

well my neighbor with a gauge said day before yesterday his gauge read 5 inches from that bad storm..seems we here are indeed getting some rain..but seasons are changing..maybe your turn comes soon Billsfan

I see there's a big cold front pushing down from Arctic into the Midwest. Certainly it won't make it all the way down here, but it's a good sign of things to come!

FV3 test model seems to see something close to SE Florida..........................................

well when October gets here, the Caribbean may get a bit active storm wise...................
